OMG Tencent just did a retarded move. 1-2 days after the final two episodes of the donghua released from VIP for free viewing, they put all the episodes after 5 under VIP. That is so retarded, at least give people 1 week to watch for FREE after the final episode becomes un-VIP. What if someone has a busy schedule and can't watch this series until the weekend, they'd be royally screwed, loyal to the series to the final two episodes then Tencent comes out and screws with them!

They did The Untamed, CCP noticed due to its popularity and quickly banned the BL (gay love) genre. Tencent doesn't want to become the scapegoat for the NEXT banned item: Polygamy/harem dramas. Harem shows aren't necessarily bad, but when all the women end up the MC's wives, instead of just one, that kind of work is BANNABLE becoz polygamy is not only illegal in China but everywhere else in the world!

They dont have any in house talent like Tencent. Without Tencent making this drama, the Three Body IP would have been destroyed and neutered by BiliBili and Netflix.

Jin Yong other stories don't have the dramatic value of a tragic ending unlike Fox Volant. So yeah, many more Jin Yong dramas will be made in the future but NOT by Tencent. And I can assure you, the quality and CGI of those dramas will be very terrible compared to typical Tencent production.

Guys (and gals), go watch A Will Eternal (anime) on WeTV, same place that streams Fox Volant. If you enjoyed Fox Volant Side Story, then A Will Eternal has the same/similar story. BUT the ending of A WILL ETERNAL should be much HAPPIER than ending of Fox Volant.
ML in AWE saved FL's life by almost sacrificing his (like how Hu Fei didn't care about his leg to save Ziyi). How does the girl then repay him? She erases all her memories of their past relationship, almost like Ziyi becoming a nun to spite Hu Fei.
BUT the other girl (2nd FL) in AWE, in the book she had a child with MC. So I don't think she will die in the anime unlike Cheng Lingsu who died to protect Hu Fei.
So yeah, if you like Fox Volant BUT not the sad ending go watch A Will Eternal anime. THAT series should be a much happier "version" of Fox Volant...
1. Not done by Tencent. Companies that rely on selling airing rights to TV channels don't put much effort into their production except superficial hype. Just look at the traversity called Tribes and Empires, so much hype but delivered so little. Tencent relies on getting money from VIP subscriptions. It's a different business model than selling airing rights and it requires the drama quality to be utmost top notch above other companies productions.
2. No Song Junwan. Wut the hell? In the anime Bai Xiao Chun only spent little time with Du Ling Fei. She literally disappears from the entire first season after only a few episodes with BXC. Meanwhile, his other flirt Song Junwan, BXC spent like over 1/3 of the first season with her. Plus I ship BXC+SJW relationship. They make a very cute couple. I literally giggled when Song Junwan made first appearance as fairy like older woman while BXC hadn't gone thru puberty yet. What more they literally called her GuGu. I really love it when somebody rips off Jin Yong's Condor Heroes Return ML+FL characters and does a really good job at it!
3. Is the anime even finished yet? I have just started watching S2. I am looking forward to more BXC+SJW cute/funny/romantic scenes and might even skip this live action done by another company becoz SJW not even listed in the cast!

You can see how each episode ends in a cliffhanger. That is Tencent trademark editing.
You can see how Miao Renfeng finishes Tian Long sect leader off in a few moves. That is trademark Tencent storytelling. They dont beat around the bush. There are much bigger scenes to complete like Lingsu dying.

BTW, Boyz and Girlz, not to belittle this drama or anything. Fox Volant Side Story is the BEST drama I've ever watched next to The Untamed... BUT, the Hu Fei depicted in this drama is ultimately a pussy. He keeps on chasing after Ziyi out of fear of abandonment. Even tells her he never had a friend b4. Hua Mei don't count he sees her more like big sister. And that his greatest fear Ziyi abandoning him and leaving him all alone.
The fear demon in him got the better of him again in Medicine Valley. He slowly started opening up to Lingsu because he was gonna become a loner otherwise. So, God took Lingsu away from him too coz that relationship will have developed out of fear (of being single) not true love.

BTW, this comment alone tells me you don't know how Tencent works. They not like other companies that make money selling broadcasting rights. They main method generating revenue is VIP subscriptions. With VIP subscriptions you have to constantly feed new dramas on WeTV. The most recent drama ended, the next one must be shown right away or people get bored and won't renew their membership. So, Tencent don't really care about hype and publicity. Their bottom line is they always need to have new drama to show after last one ended... And each drama must be very high quality or people stop being VIPs!
The good thing about VIP business model is you can use hype from more popular series to hook viewers then shows like Fox Volant keeps them hooked without needing to constantly attract new membership thru hype, although that is not a bad thing.

Nope. It has Tencent magic behind it. Please just look at the anime section on WeTV. Each anime series produced by a different company. I'm shocked everytime I enjoy a new anime series on WeTV, it's made by different anime studio... BUT why they all got similar looking character designs? Why they all have similar bad-ass feeling? Because they all got TENCENT magic behind them!
Another clue, look at the intro and ending credits. Do they look like some unknown noobie company did those sequences? Why all dramas with Tencent play button logo at the start have quality op/en sequences? Cuz Tencent sent their men to oversee the production, sent CGI artists to do the CGI for them, etc.

First as sister. But after Ziyi became a nun, he mentally freaked out that there was no one left for him, so he slowly decided to accept Ling Su. But just as Hu Fei was about to ask her to marry him, she paralyzed him so as to be unable to talk. Because she knew right there one of them had to die, so didn't want Hu Fei to admit his love and feel even more sad after her passing... So best he never said it in the first place!

It NOT that bad as you thought. The only reason why Ziyi became a nun because she's an upright person. She didn't think it fair for Lingsu to witness her being a relationship with Hu Fei. So her being a nun is her way to force Hu Fei to marry Lingsu. But hey Lingsu got poisoned and died... So... Use your imagination. The original reason why Ziyi became a nun became no longer valid after Lingsu's death... I think at some point Ziyi forsook her nun-hood and got back together with HF! She not the kind of person to go blindly follow some Buddhist faith... she seems way smarter than that!
