After ep7, the drama is kinda off for me. The pacing is problematic and especially the narration. I thought it would've been more mature execution, where is the angst and the seriousness of the beginning ? I do have an issue with WJY's acting. The grief and the deep pain of her charcter is less apparent on her face, especially in her eyes, and imo the actress should've done a better job making her charcter showcase different emotions at the same time. In the recent eps, she behave in more relax way, it should've been more about confidence than that ... confidence and determination to keep up with the revenge plan ... But I was already aware that she was unable to display texture in her acting ... But I got carried away by her amazing charisma during the first eps ...
I thought the drama would've a tone like the one in "Nirvana in Fire" or "Royal Nirvana", but it's looking more like your generic costume cdrama ...

I can understand your opinion. I won't say his love or obsession is the reason people are intrigued by him, at least, it's not my motivation. I think the actor is doing a good job displaying the complexity of the toughts of his characters especially when he intetacts with the fl: the complexity between his own greed for power (probably motivated by his own reasons) and his feelings for the fl, her being the only person he could trust while being unable to see properly (but it's too soon to be certain, I'm sure the writing will give us more details).

The acting was highly disappointing. The fl's perf was very superficial, she was unable to comprehend the deepness of her character. She has no range of facial expressions which was frustrating to watch. Her karisma was definitely interesting in the beginning tho. The ml did the bare minimum with this role. He usually can showcase his skills imo but in this drama, he was boring af. He made his character look like a teenage boy ...
The story of the lovestory of the lead was absurd. They didn't fall in love, they fell in lust and that's that. It was so cringy to see them pretend they were bonded by a deep connection LOL.
The writing of the characters was honestly so basic and bland. The lovestory of the 2nd cp was problematic as hell too.

It's ok, I don't aim to have the same opinion as everyone. Obviously, I stated that it was an unpopular opinion for that reason. Ml was getting more attention because of his last drama that did great in china, and good for him.
The directing is stunning !! Liu Xue Yi's acting as usual is very impressive (and daaamn he is sooo fine !!!)! I'm glad he's getting more 1st male lead roles. After "the double", Wu Jin Yan is again improving her acting (not as impressive as LXY but she is doing good). Her action scenes were very good and in this drama this time she can display a more "mature" chemistry with her ml !
The story is definitely intriguing, hopefully the writing will keep being enagging. I'll say maybe the storytelling is definitely straightforward. They could've let us a little more subtility and mystery ... The structure of the narrative is more simple that I expected. I was hoping for more complexity when it comes to the psychology of the characters.
The main complain I have tho is about the second characters, I don't think the actors and actresses they chose are that good ... especially compare to the leads, the gap between is huge imo.
I like the chemistry between the fl and the ml but also with the 2nd... but the thing is that I find the Marquis Lu Jia Xue more fascinating to watch. Unpopular opinion : Ci Sha is stealing all my attention... and it's not the first time Zhang Wan Yi (despite the fact that he is a good actor) gets overshadowed by the 2nd ml, in "Lost you forever", Tian Jian Ci was definitely getting the spotlight too ...
The 2nd ml, Marquis lu Jia Xue is so interesting, he's lowkey stealing my attention. Ren Min can have chemistry with anyone ! I love how the fl's clever mind, Ren Min is doing great, her way too be cute is so natural. But honestly I need Yi Ning to find out Shen Yuan isn't her brother, cause the chemistry is too strong for me to not see what's already going on ... But I like how the drama is walking a fine line.
I had high expectations for this one since the trailer was gorgeous but honestly those 10 eps were so boring, the scenes are too long for no reason, the editing is dragging them too ... The winter aesthetic is lovely to watch but the cp has barely any chemistry ...
I already watched the 1st version twice years ago and I just finished this one. No matter how many times I watch this gem, it still affect me in so many ways. The writing is insanely good, the directing very creative dispite some flaws. And the acting and chemistry are amazing !! The fact that this drama had two newcomers as main leads was so refreshing too ! The angst is great because the complexity of the emotions portrayed by the characters is simply outstanding.
