I'm liking the drama ! I like the slow pace, it is done in the right way.
The acting is on point especially from the two leads, it's quite technical, I'm enjoying it. Their chemistry is lovely and suprisingly quite deep.

Ps : People saying the fl can't are the same ones overhyping the most boring actresses at there ...

The actor Ji Lingchen takes on really interesting and complex roles. I also found him to play the most interesting…
Indeed, and it does it effortlessly which is nice, so far, I haven't witness him overacting or looking fake on screen !

Agree. I feel the same. And now not sure whether will continue
I'm gonna try my best to not drop it yet, I'm still kinda curious about the fl's reaction to the real identity of the ml ...

The first 7 eps were so good but after, damn eps 8-11 were boring to me, even the main cp is getting bland. The revelation of the identity of the female lead to the male lead was dull as hell. The angst isn't there at all.
It's not bad but it had the material to be epic and instead it's just disappointing.
Suprisingly the main leads are boring me after ep8, the 2nd cp is pure nonsense to me so I'm literally skipping their scenes.
To be honest the 3rd male lead aka Lord of Yunpei City is the only character that has a rather fascinating undertone.

So which one better this or the love u gave me
I haven't watch "the love you gave me" yet, hopefully I'll soon, the cp is lovely !

indeed the situation with the 2nd fl is so creepy, it's like they're trying to romanticize stockholm syndrom or something.... lowkey hoping for her to actually take her revenge on him later...

But I must admit that I find it triggering that the writing tries to make Rui Wen likeable while we saw he's an actual a r-pist.
Obviously the historical context of the time pushes us to understand to what extent this kind of thing was normalized but in 2024, I think the team behind the drama should've take into account the extent to which r-pe has a visceral impact on a human being. I think the management didn't make the necessary effort to do this.

So far this drama is incredible ! The quality is insane.
The directing' style is exquisite and it was a while since I saw this quality in a costume cdrama. I love the writing, the storyline and the dialogues are very interesting.
The chemistry of the cast is very nice especially the one between the main cp.
It has a "Goodbye My Princess" vibe that I love.
The display of sensuality and caution between the cp is lovely to watch !

update : ep8 & 9 were very underwhelming ... They better not ruin the drama ! 🥲

Title Echo of Her Voice Spoiler
Up to nowAre they together? When?Any love triangle?Breakup?
If I remember correctly I stopped at ep 16. 2nd ml likes the fl, ml and fl shares mutual feelings but ml lied to her by being cruel to "protect" her ... he couldn't brave himself to defend her in front of the emperor ... boring stuff going on to be honest, the directing and the writing are meh, but the chemistry of the two cps are cute for sure.

why is it ruined? lol
Because the central element of the story, that is to say the development of a friendly to romantic relationship, is not written in a deep prism, trying to understand the psychology of the two heroes (what pushed the characters to never try anything before, what will pushed them to try to become a couple... they explained a part in what, 2 episodes and in the most basic way).
The writers, as is often the case in this trope in kdramaland choose to procrastinate by adding sensational subplots because they don't have the writing talent necessary to depict the changing nature of a relationship in a strictly psychological and sentimental prism.

K-ent always goes out of its way to ruin dramas around the friendship-to-lover trope ... 98% were already ruined, and this one is another one to add to the list.

I kinda agree, but I also think if your acting skills are great, you face wouldn't be a problem ...
For, exemple, through his past photoshoots, he was able to change his "energy" but since they were pictures, he didn't have to talk, move etc, he didn't have to act ...
