Wow. I´m impressed to see such a positive review. (Sounds meaner than I actually mean it) That alone convinced me to binge this series starting this evening.
OK. Clearly your trolling with that 3.5 but I can't let this just sit here. I may have to start leaving actual…
I don´t get why people disagree with you (@Jakksen) on a personal level and make it look as if you were just sulking about the fact that someone rated it a 3.5, when actually what you said was a legitimate statement which I support: Compared to all the other LGBTQIA+ shows that were released, this show is definitely not a 3.5.
I have also written about that in my review, which was triggered by the exact same issue I had with some of the lower reviews. Even though all reviews are based on personal preferences, I think that if someone decides to write a review, thus getting some cloud on MDL or whatsoever, they have some sort of responsibility to be fair with each aspect and their critiques towards a show.
Yes, the screenwriting was a bit disappointing but the acting was better than in most shows prior to this. Yes, this is not one of the new 2022/23 gems, but nonetheless, the Acting and the Music were not as bad as some people make them look. The dialogue carried this show, the vulnerability was portrayed by good acting. They correctly adapted the story from the original novel.
I see many reasons for this show to not be one of the best but I also see many reasons, some of which I had just mentioned, that do not legitimate a 3.5 rating. Just wanted to share my opinion, since that´s what this website is for.
Thank you for your review. I was almost going to give up on this series after seeing so much lower ratings like…
I think that people hoped for something less melancholic and conflicting. The characters show their flaws, stuggles, vulnerability and yet at the same time their progressiveness and resolution. It was a very serious show to me.
Not a bad show, but please stop editing in a way that’s unnecessary exploiting people of their privacy. I think it was not necessary to show HyoGi’s crying scene in the last episode for such a long time, to this extent. Too personal. (But it’s reality TV after all, I can’t judge one of their main aspects - “intervening with the casts personal space/ life”)
I just came to vent it out. Bothered me a lot. Hated it, actually.
I get all the controversy about how Tae-wan is too jealous and careless when it comes to expressing himself. Fair and healthy communication is something he still has to improve in. However, I think that Hye-yeon has also a huge package of self-work to do. Despite Tae-wan’s weird attempts to gain her attention, she only gave him excuses. Especially the “That’s just how I am” excuse really annoyed me. Yes, that’s how you are. In my opinion she has OF COURSE the right to be herself, however, if she wants/ desires/ aims for a healthy relationship and she want to be admired and treated better for the right reasons, she should stop with her excuses and start being more honest to herself. In my opinion, she fell out of love with Tae-wan. She would tell him she didn’t like expressing her feelings and showing affection but didn’t shy away from some affection towards unknown guys that she had just met. She had the right to do that, but dragging Tae-wan along with excuses has only made things worse. Their communication is just so toxic, they hurt each other and Hye-yeon did not even react to her boyfriends tears.
Out of the entire series, which is a explosive dramaland, I can sympathize the least with Hye-yeon. I feel like that there are some narcissistic tendencies that she has to work on, while Tae-won has to stop trying to manipulate his way (back) into Hye-yeons heart.
