I am not sure why this is set for 2020 release since it was made a few years ago. Maybe it has to do with the issues between China-Korea... alot of dramas were on hold from being released for about a 2 year period only now they're starting to surface. If you look this title up you will find youtube and blog posts about it from 2015-16.
I think most people are talking about the age gap just because they don't like the male actor's appearance!! If…
What we find attractive is often cultural. For many Korean women, the number one trait they find most attractive is height. (not that looks aren't considered) The lead is 6'1 or 187 cm which makes him very taller than the average Korean male which is 5'9 or 175 cm. He may not be super trim but he isn't fat. I think the way they dress him makes him look bigger in size. They have him leaning down or slumping over in some shots to balance his height against hers, this can make someone look less trim. He is often wearing baggy clothes which add bulk to his larger frame. Keep in mind the camera also adds weight too.
The age gap thing... people need to get over it. It's part of acting. Age gaps happen often between actors including in reverse. . It may not make everyone comfortable but they are both legal adults. She could have passed on the script if she was uncomfortable with it.
Side note M dad was 30 and my mom 19 when they met. They got married a year later and stayed together 41 years until my dad passed away from ALS.
“The Last Empress” Announces Changes To Schedule For Upcoming Episodes by J. LimSBS’s Wednesday-Thursday…
my guess is that they wanted to pick up viewers who missed parts of the story.
Or scheduling wise... the script maybe to short for all of the weeks they have to air or the Lunar new years in coming up they may be trying to balance their airing schedule in advance or there was some other tv event competing with the show in the same airtime
“The Last Empress” Announces Changes To Schedule For Upcoming Episodes by J. Lim
SBS’s Wednesday-Thursday drama “The Last Empress” has announced a few scheduling changes to its upcoming episodes. On January 11, a source from the drama stated, “At 10 p.m. KST on January 16, we will be airing a ‘The Last Empress’ special that plays like a highlight reel of the 32 episodes that have aired so far. Therefore, episodes 33 and 34, which would have originally aired on January 16, will air the next day on January 17.”

It airs tonight so the wait is nearly over. BTW...Asiawiki.com usually post updates on a dramas title page when there are changes a cast member or the drama is delayed or canceled. It's good place to check for notices.

Since being in Korea for a good portion of the last 6 months I have slowed down on my drama viewing. I am not sure it this is why my list is so short or if I found the options less interesting. I did drop several more than usual in 2018. I also found t-dramas, often my second favorite, as well as C-dramas, J-drama and Lakorn, didn't make much of an impression this year either.
Anyway these are the Kdramas I enjoyed the most.... 100 Days My Prince A Poem a Day Your House Helper (*I like Ha Seok Jin) Grand Prince Mr. Sunshine My ID is Gangnam Beauty Lawless Lawyer At the moment I'm watching The Last Empress and Cleaning With Passion For Now. I am sure I missed a few dramas from 2018 I need to go back and watch.
Sometimes I wonder..are there really so many Chaebols in South Korea..as there are in K-Dramas ? :')
It was recently reported that there are 45 conglomerates that fit the traditional definition of a chaebol, according to Korea's FTC . The top 10 own 27% of SK's business assets. If you think about the number of children and grandchildren under the umbrella of those companies...It's a reasonable amount of heirs.
I wouldn't be shocked if they bring MYR back ... It's a bit soon to kill her off with this only being the halfway…
It seems unlikely...yet it's a drama so anything is possible. There are 6 weeks to go and she has been a main part of the story. It seems unusual to take her out so soon. On the other hand her entire history has been exposed, there are plenty of enemies lurking around in and out of the shadows to keep the plot moving forward. If they keep her on it could be annoying, I'm hopeful the part she plays is really finished.
The end of episode 24 makes me wonder if the emperor is jealous of their relationship even when he commanded Chun…

The drama adaptation of "Masquerade", is a story that takes inspiration from "The Prince and the Pauper" by Mark Twain.
