I watched many Thai dramas and liked a number of them. This is the first one I couldn't digest it. I am aware abuse is not unusual in thai dramas, but they are not always this extreme. Thailand has produced good dramas without needing to devalue women and sugarcoat or normalize criminal levels of abuse. In the case of this drama the scriptwriters were all male and it was obvious in the way they handled the subject of rape among other topics. LM's behavior was disgusting, and the Thai viewers were up in arms about it on Twitter and other platforms for several weeks. It won't be long before the entertainment industry in Thailand will wake up that audience is no longer willing to accept women being raped and discredited for being a victim, or accept they suffer physical or emotional abuse only to live happily ever after with an abuser or accuser. The shelf life of these types of dramas is dwindling fast.
I stopped at 9 but super skipped my way through the last half on youtube hoping it would improve so I could pick it up again.. but no.... It's just got worse...such was a mess.
I KNOW RIGHT! It's sad because back in the early 2000s, Taiwanese dramas were the thing, and many viewers from…
I think it was a Lego Lee drama that got me started, I ended up watching several of his dramas after that before moving on to other T-Dramas. It was a few months before K-Dramas sparked my interest, eventually other countries followed. Taiwan has a number of good dramas, I only have issues with one ep. a week being released, I end up waiting until it's almost over and then I have to find time to indulge. Once I start it is nearly impossible to break free. Recently I stumbled upon a Singaporean drama, My Star Bride, now I am wondering why those are not here on MDL. It is one of the best dramas I have seen recently. I'm wondering if it's special or if they usually have good dramas.
Was it just me or did the ending kinda of suck? Like I was expecting more?? And it looked like they cut a lot…
Absolutely agree the lasts 4 EP are a waste of time, I actually went to make sure there wasn't one more week....especially the ending... why would anyone write it this way?
From Ep 11, I think the chef is gay and have felling with the doctor but the doctor is closet gay who doesn't…
I think we need more back story which this drama is not going to give us. We know they were friends. They had a one-time experience in college. What was it? Confession? Attraction? Kiss? Sexual encounter? Something else? He feels shame about whatever it was. Did he get into a situation unexpectedly? Was there mutual attraction there all the time? Was it one-sided? Were they drunk and he was persuaded? Was it an actual mistake and he just wants to forget it, but he still cares about his friend? Why are they still friends all this time? Granted... He could be covering for his friend. He could like men. He could also have feelings for both men and women. The doctor appears to have never wrestled out his identity and suppresses himself from truly figuring it. Did he run into a marriage to hide his inner fears, rather than discovering who he is....There are lots of internal reasons why people end up having a "sexual" experience or interest in a person, especially when you are younger. Since it is a one-time experience it leaves a lot of possible options ... I do think he genuinely respects and cares for his wife, but hiding who you are (or a fear you might be something) in a marriage, you have a mask on and a wall up. Even if he is not gay, he isn't fully free to love or be loved by her, because he doesn't want to reveal his fears about himself or his past to her. Honestly, deep down I hope he isn't gay, and they can salvage their marriage and be happy. I couldn't imagine being a woman and finding out your husband has such a secret. I really don't know how this is going to unfold...I am curious. The sad thing about this drama is that there are too many relationships I want to know more in-depth and we most likely won't have that opportunity for the sake of time.
You're generous. I gave it a one because that is as low as it allows. I guess the first few episodes are worth…
I don't fault the actors, most of them were excellent. The script was a mess. It's the worst Thai drama I have seen to date honestly, I'd like to give my brain a shower to forget it. The topic of rape and also the way the ML dealt with it...this couple should never have worked out in the end, way to much trauma...I was reading a lot of the Thai comments on youtube, they were cursing the scriptwriters (all male) for producing such sewage.
I keep waiting for the moment when CHS finds out his older sister's relationship with his boss and the full story between the doctor and the chef, even though we keep getting hints along the way....
May I know the age difference between the two leads in this drama. I don't like it if there is a big age gap between…
In the script, she 28 and he is 27. The actors are actually 5. 5 years apart, 29 and 24. It's nothing extreme. I still feel the age difference is more than a year between.
Can someone tell me if the mother of the FL has a mental illness or is she like that?? Cause I seriously don't…
Not diagnosed. It seems like she has some form of PTSD after discovering her husband was cheating. I think she idolized her husband and her relationship in a fairy tale-type context. She couldn't handle or accept it, so she pushed back her reality when became distorted. Later, Her insecurities and fears manifested onto her daughter, especially after her husband died.
Thanks for sharing this... The whole thing is unnerving...the last statement WTF??? “We invite you all to forgive him [the husband in the series],” they said in a February 8 tweet. “Fans don’t miss it next week.” That says a lot.
