I enjoy their chemistry and watching them together. There is a a lot of truth in this plot.Chinese dramas are often developed in a manner to educate the public. This is not simply a romance. The lead ML is suppose to be awakened by the imbalance and injustices woman deal with in corporate world. He will grow in his desire to support his wife's career dreams and protect thier family. FL will learn to overcome the challenges in her career and balance her family life. I get the over the top reaction of the mom. She has some valid concerns about her daughters future. In china, even in korea where I live, women are asked in interviews if they have a boyfriend and if they will get married. It's seen as a disadvantage. Women are often passed by for a position if they want a family or have one. The company expects a women will soon quit and take care of a husband or kids, so why should they waste money and energy hiring them at all. They're are no anti-discrimination laws protecting women in the work place. Once you have a baby and quit, it is nearly impossible to get hired again. Her moms views are not entirely crazy! It's best if her daughter stays where she already has security of building a career. If her husband one day leaves her in the distant future and she quits working to take care of her family, her daughter would have little to no chance begin her career again. The FLs mom know her daughters talents, she has sacrificed a lot to put her in school. Since She's a new hire with little experience, she has little security. This is the reality many women in asia face. This drama is confronting the injustices and struggles women and couples are confronted with. The world has changed and women no longer stay home with the babies, while some are forced to do so. It may seem strange and unlikely but he weighs the value of his love for them both greater than his position. He has already sacrificed one relationship for the company. New love is awakened in his heart. He wants happiness more than his job. He knows he should be able to find a new oppertunity as a man with a successful history unlike the FL. Though it is a drama, It's reality being exposed.
the ML really looks too old next to the FL pairing. chemistry is average so far for this series
It doesn't seem that extreme to me. I had to look up their real ages. The both look younger than they are IMO. He is suppose to be seven years older than her in the story in real life. They are actaually 19 years apart. 27 and 46. I would have guessed 10 to 12.
Seems you've deleted your reply to my comment any way. I completely agree with you. Two couples aren't healthy…
RIGHT! The part where she agrees to be controlled by him, made my stomach turn. There were several scenes after that where she basically hands her power over to him. PLUS the wedding really ticked me off, he never asks her a single thing. He plans every part of it and drags her along. He even gets her mom to agree to get the family book. She's just alone for the ride. It's insane! Side subject but equally strange, I am completely baffled by the night after they get the wedding registered, they "sleep" together, the next morning he pops out of bed fully dressed, while her clothes are across the room. What was that? The second couple had no chemistry. His age in the story didn't make sense. She's going after a teenager, the guy on the rebound??? Not to mention all the other issues her personality had. I guess I am in the granny club. Really, this one was bad.
I don't think so. Choi Jin Hyuk is only a cameo here right? Kim Jung Hyun is the main male lead. I don't know…
Almost all period Korean dramas use the names of real people in some form, however they are often greatly altered to the point of no recognition. It never limits the story to the physical events of the people mentioned.
I did some research and most of the characters really based on real characters and it seemed like late king was…
This is based on a Chinese novel, the story is entirely fiction. Korean dramas typically attach then names of past historic figures to all their period dramas, even if the story has nothing to do with the actual people.

It really not dealt in healthy way but I love how they use his character here. He changed for her but his nature…
It looks like you are on 18, wait until you get to 23. See you how you feel about some of his actions. 24 finished ok but it's lingering there as a part of who is since they never really deal with it.
I am not keen the FL cluelessness, nor the acceptance of the male leads nature to be controlling. It's not dealt with in a healthy way. Unlike other dramas where negative behavior is repented for and the person transforms. Here, . Some of the stuff he says or does to her that is portrayed as romantic, would normally be warning signs escalation of emotional abuse. I was a bit shocked when he asks her permission to accept his, controlling nature as a part of their relationship. There are a few moments of alarm after that. It's subtle. It is a dangerous message when love is shown in this light.
I am still trying to make my mind accept the fact that the soul of a man with man's souvenirs of a man's life…
I just read in a blog..."In the novel, Peng Peng's (FL) soul was actually supposed to be a girl but due to a mistake by a minor god, Peng Peng's soul was sent to a man's body. So to correct the mistake the god had put Peng Peng's soul back to her rightful body. (The old Peng Peng actually went to the modern time and into Peng Peng's old body.)"
On another page it said... " Go Princess Go had gotten into some hot waters with the Chinese government due to some of its content. As it is, I think the drama writer had to change some of the story's basic premise in order for it to be okay for TV. In the novel, there was never an option for Peng Peng to go back to her old body, but due to some government rules the show had to make it into a dream...thus the whole weird ending."

Yeah, It does press the out of the box vibe for some people. I still have mixed feelings about this even after watching the Cdrama version. I will still watch this, I am curious about how much the Korean version will differ.
Out of curiosity as I don't typically watch cdramas, how does one have 3 endings? Do they air all 3?
You can find them under the Chinese title. EP 35, 36 and 37. Only 35 and 36 have subs on Youtube and they have a somewhat sad or strange endings. 37 is more or less happy but still strange IMO...It's on DM. The book ending is explained in the comments o EP 35 ENG subbed version in the comments. I guess it didn't meet the cpc gov't regulations, they had to. make an alternative. The episodes are all identical other than the last minute or two.
Doesn't seem to me it is 2 souls one body, just the current soul has access to a fragments of memory from her(his?)…
The booked ended very different from the 3 c-drama endings. I didn't care for any of them. I am really hoping we see some originality in the korean version.
ending seems to foreshadow season 2. Probably them coming back and story progress from there
IDK...it could be but I think they added the ending was a little slice of CCP national support -propaganda in the mist of the government trying to do image control. There are a few places the leads make comments "for the motherland" in their life purpose. Back when Wuhan virus was surfacing, several doctors and reporters (whistleblowers) came forward, but rather than being taken as credible, they were highly mistreated by the officials. As the word of the truth his social media, the national and international view of the CCP soured and became uncontrollable, for a time. NOW...The government is doing a number of PR moves in film productions showing the heroic side of the epidemic as a way to get people to forget all the injustices against the people.
If they do a sequel I would also be pleased, since it's one of the best C-dramas I have seen to date. At the same time, I would stand on the ending being an intentional effort to refresh the CPC face. It is very subtly woven within the script, though the end is right there.

They both ended today with the same story.
