I must admit that I took some time before I managed to piece the different threads together for about the first half of the first episode, but once things were in place..... I think I quite like this one. The whole thing is really quite cute and tender at times, even a bit nutty with that BL couples shipper in the café, and a bit zany with the second couple, but I have no qualms with the acting and I find the whole thing is sailing along quite smoothly after the initial confusion about who was who and after whom..... I feel this will be quite a sweet fluffly series with a few moments of sadness and drama (both of the main leads lost their mothers...), but I suppose all will work out beautifully.... Anyway, so far, so lovely.....
Hmm, my final conclusion is "what a waste of time"! The whole plot was meandering and wandering and lacked a hell of a lot of continuity between events. And what on earth was this ending....... totally gratuitous! What are we to understand.....? that it is better to forgo the flesh and stand next to each other in platonic brotherhood? Doesn't sound like this series was coming to any serious standpoint vis-à-vis the Catholic church and conserative society that it possibly (?) set out to deal with.... I was willing to be indulgent to the (mediocre) quality of the direction and the acting, in the hope that the story line would at least lead somewhere that you would expect from a BL series.... But no, we got some kind of turgid, nondescript finale with nothing but sirupy music...
Same!! It didn't feel like just 12 minutes to me too- it felt eventful but not too busy, if you catch my drift…
Great, thanks for all these posts which help to clarify all this. I mean, of course I realize that ears can be really sensitive and erogenous, but it took such a weight of meaning here that I imagined there had to be some other contextual significance..... right, can’t wait to see the next episodes.... ?
Does anyone know about a series or film Lay was in called Sea of Lavender? I keep seeing posts about it on tumblr, and it is clearly BL, but there is no information here....
The funny feeling I have is that, even though the first two episodes were only 2 x 10 minutes or so, I felt it…
Ok, thanks to both of you for your responses. So this « bad habit » is part of the whole battery of techniques he employs to flirt with Kang Gook, and not just with Kang Gook as he also tries it on with the guy who socked him on the face in the beginning... I don’t know if there is any reason why Korean men should have more sensitive ears than Westerners ??, but it is probably true then that this is somehow perceived as such... (I don’t think it would be here in Europe, where I am...). Very interesting!
The funny feeling I have is that, even though the first two episodes were only 2 x 10 minutes or so, I felt it was actually quite long. Not in a bad sense, but in the sense that we were eased into the characters and the situation very effectively, and I feel I know them enough to go further with them. And desire to go further...... a very engaging introduction!
Otherwise, can anyone who knows Korean culture explain what the thing is with rubbing another person’s ear and why it is a « bad habit »?
Yalls throw around the word queerbaited but it doesn't actually apply to this show. Just because you're disappointed…
We can agree that there doesn’t need to be skinship or voracious kissing for the romance to come out, but in the last two episodes there was nothing at all: no caring, no real attention, no affection’ nothing left of the soft loving that we saw in the first 9 or so episodes... at least certainly not on Sarawat’s side.
As a gay man, I don’t know if I was cheated or not, that’s not my concern, but as an avid lover of BL stories and drama with real emotions I just feel total and utter disappointment.
Cannot work out how come some people are talking about chemistry between Tine and Sarawat.... for that to be,…
Yes, exactly. It was just same old same old , no evolution in character or acting as things started to develop in the drama and the couple. On the other hand, I feel we got more insight into the intensity of Tine’s emotions in those last episodes.
Your bias for this drama is Showing. It's not fair to compare the viewership ratings for a drama that was backed…
I agree, Win is not a great actor - yet...- but he is engaging and moving , and, as someone said elsewhere here, he seems to connect well with the other characters in the series. He could have a good career ahead of him.
@Mikayuu I don’t hate Bright or put all the blame for everything on him, but I don’t think his acting or his character evolved at all during the series. At the end , it was just same old, same old. Obviously, a lot of that is down to the script, the editing and the directing, but I didn’t see half the energy or spark that I saw in Win in the last few episodes.

Well, thank goodness for that is all I can say! I was pretty open to and accepting of Bright as an actor for most of the way, but after what I have seen in the last few episodes I shall be happy if he never graces my screen again. Win, on the other hand......
