There are three companies: Sh (owned by ML's maternal family and where SnakeRong works), Y (NXG's father's company), and S (later will be named Guangyu Solar). S is a joint venture between Sh and Y, it's a subsidiary branch. Since LYS is not part of the male lineage, he can’t inherit Sh, just like his father. LYS has three uncles and multiple cousins, all of whom have rights to the company and the 51% share of S. ML has none. On the other hand, FL is the only child of her father, so she would receive the entire 49% and is also the sole heiress of Y.

They did say that their orthopedic department is more developed since that hospital is the nearest one to the tracks. However they don't have many experienced doctors or the latest equipment in the neurosurgery department. The most senior doctor who performed the operation completed his fellowship just last year indicating a lack of experience. So, while there is a neurosurgery department, it is not equipped to handle critical situations. Given that ML is a young prodigy in neurosurgery the doctor asked him to be present in case anything went wrong so he could guide them. He was just outside the OT and didn’t even enter. While this whole scenario was, as you said, meant to glorify the ML, at least they provided an explanation. I found the explanation acceptable as I have seen similar situations in my country. An accident in hilly areas or remote locations often exposes the horrible state of the medical sector.
I think today's episode was really important. LYS now knows that NXG cares for him. If something happens to him, she’ll be worried. One of the wounds that the accident caused him was the lack of concern shown by her, the girl he had fallen for at first sight (though it wasn't her fault). During those hours of despair and depression, he yearned for her care, even the tiniest bit of it. Today, that scar was finally healed.
I find NXG's reaction very human. When we get to know that someone we love has been hurt or is sick we lose our minds. All rationality goes out the window. At this point NXG realizes that she likes LYS. Even before she understands her feelings her heart knows he is important to her. She is someone who scolds her friend for asking about his profession. She knows how much pain he is still in. We have seen her scold people at least two times so when she sees him in scrubs, she understands what he’s going through. But the thought that he might be the one who had the accident makes her lose her rationality. She is afraid and sickened by the thought of losing him. That's why she lashed out at him.
Love the changes in the story, especially Jiang Rui's part. He was already good in the novel but his character in the drama is chef's kiss. In the novel, he didn’t know many things so he once tried to get NXG and JerkXu together "naturally." He was the one who mistakenly let JerkXu know that NXG and LYS were not dating during New Year's.
After reading the novel..... what a waste. This cast and this story deserve so much better. I wish they had been licensed for 40 episodes. The story is so good and the cast was fantastic. Jiang Qiaoxi and Lin Yingtao had so much potential and much to show. The audience never got to see why Yingtao and Qiaoxi have such a deep connection or why they are both obsessed with each other. Their relationship has a lot of depth but none of it was portrayed. Zhang Linghe was excellent in the Hong Kong track but that was also cut short.
Since they have already introduced LYS to NXG's family that means we won't get the scene where NXG constantly stresses her uncle to introduce her to LYS at Grandpa Sheng's birthday party and then leaves her uncle completely dumbfounded by announcing that they are dating.

He was not ill. He was sent to another country where there is a lot of conflict going on. That's why he probably didn’t take his family with him. He was killed there.

Yes, it's the same in the novel. In the side story we actually get some more details. In the business world her mother was getting more recognition. Being the man-child that he is, he took in his ex when she came and fake fainted in his office to make NXG's mom feel low. He brought in his ex to manipulate her. He wanted to make her to place himself above her. NXG's mom really loved him and had a heart-to-heart talk about how his ex was affecting her and creating problems in their marriage. He still didn’t care, so she filed for divorce. He never thought she would do it and even years after the divorce requested reconciliation.

NXG tells him that he has always preferred his ex and her daughter and has never really cared much for her. She gives him a lot of examples that shut him up. She asks him if he ever considered what else his goddaughter has done using her name. Did he ever confront her? She tells him to do whatever he wants with his business and properties. She never took a single penny from him and never wanted his wealth. That was the last conversation between them. After that she ignored him and his messages. The ex actually becomes ill and he dumps her.
NXG's phone case is so cute. It's literally her and LYS. It shows how LYS is taking over her heart. That case definitely made ZX jealous. Love my girl for that!

Because Gu Man started writing this story in 2012/2013, the whole setup is based on that time. China started heavily investing in solar energy around that time and the industry was new. She used that concept to write her story. After taking a long break she finally completed the story in 2023. If they try to change the timeline the whole concept would have to change.

In the novel LYS confessed in chapter 34 and the misunderstanding came to light in chapter 38. Not much happens in between except the whole office gets to know that LYS is pursuing NXG and her father makes a little intervention to try to stop them from dating. What was shown in the two new episodes was not part of the novel. But I am loving this whole pre-dating phase. It's actually showing how NXG gets over her crush and develops feelings for LYS.
