It's such a shame they're not promoting the drama on variety shows. I love the chaotic energy surrounding them. This is my first time watching actors casually discuss having meat stuck in their teeth as if it's nothing.

That scene with the orange....I never knew someone could look so enchantingly beautiful while biting into one.

I couldn't finish one episode in two hours because I kept rewinding just to admire Cheng Lei. He looks absolutely ethereal.

the fact equal billing is possible why do others say that two popular actors like for example ZLH and Zlusi can't…
I heard somewhere that ZLH is still with the same agent who was abusive to ZL.
And many popular actors can't work together because of their teams, agents, or companies' big egos. They want to be first-billed and often don't agree to equal billing.

For novel readers, has the drama adapted the novel well? Are there any differences? How is the pacing? If I'm…
I honestly felt like the drama surpassed the book and that says a lot coming from someone who truly loves the book. They made some changes, added some wonderful plot and all of it only enriched the story even more.

After watching episode 30 I realized that NXG is really sometimes out of touch of the real world. All she think…
People hate ZX for how he treated NXG. His background fits the typical male lead in a second-chance love story. If he hadn’t humiliated her, everyone would likely be suffering from second lead syndrome, just like they do for even mildly decent second male leads.
Today’s episode showed him how he has wronged her. All he needed to do was clearly say no to her proposal. When she insisted she would pursue him until his feelings changed, he should have communicated that those feelings wouldn’t change. In the novel, his POV reveals him desperately trying to fight his feelings and maintain distance. He should have expressed that. Clear communication was all that was needed.
As soon as NXG found out about him and Rong she apologized. And the nightmare of rumors she had to endure at college. They painted her as a girl pining for someone already in a committed relationship. As Chris pointed out in today’s episode, that kind of rumor follows women everywhere. If NXG were just a normal middle class girl with difficult coworkers, her work life would have been a nightmare. She’d face slut-shaming and even her career progress would unwarrantedly be linked to dating higher-ups. As you know from the novel, there was a particular situation in the office where a coworker did just that.
ZX had a tough life, but who doesn’t? 90% of the population has to work hard to live. That doesn’t give him the right to treat her poorly. Even when he knew his childhood sweetheart was going around character assassinating NXG, he didn’t step in to stop her. Any decent human being understands what kind of nightmare that is for a girl.

She is so freaking pretty and she looks extra pretty in SOM. In yesterday's karaoke episode I rewound it so many times just to see her beautiful face. She looked gorgeous sitting there. I thought to myself, if I were one of JerkXu's descendants, I would curse him with every breath for fumbling this pretty girl.

Thinking about how she has no more novels left for adaptation and she writes so slowly and is now on a long vacation after finishing her work on Shine On Me, leaves me feeling dejected. No idea if we'll see anything new in the next 10 years. I always look forward to her works.

Care to share please coz I have no idea at all.
In China the heart-shaped, deep red bean signifies enduring love, faithfulness and missing someone. Also Chinese believe that the color red brings happiness, good luck and prosperity. When NXG gives LYS those red beans it's more than just a gesture, it's a form of assurance for him. It represents their love as well as hopes for his career and future, symbolizing her belief in their journey together.

This is my first time watching an ongoing C-drama in my 10 years as a fan and Shine On Me is incredibly special to me. I've always waited for C-dramas to drop all their episodes before starting to watch. But for the first time in a decade, I’ve eagerly tuned in as soon as each episode was released, discussing it with others on MDL after every episode. I’m openly fangirling over Longmai now, even though I’ve been a silent fan of both since 2020!
I've always been a silent watcher, but Shine On Me changed that trajectory for me. It will always hold a special place in my heart and I know this is a show, I'll rewatch multiple times.
Thank you Longlong, Maimai, Gu Man, and Shine On Me team for this unforgettable journey. ❤️❤️

Can someone please explain the significance of Xiguang changing the soybean into a red bean? lol I am at lost…
In China red beans symbolize deep love, longing and fidelity, often serving as a romantic token. When NXG gives LYS those red beans it's more than just a gesture, it's a form of assurance for him. It represents their love as well as hopes for his career and future, symbolizing her belief in their journey together.

Funny how he only feels the weight of his actions now that he's in the same situation. Let him taste how NXG felt back in their university days!

why divorced parents??
Solo fans and CP fans can sometimes become overly toxic, hating on co-stars and fueling fan wars. Co-stars often tend to avoid each other to prevent these conflicts. This has happened with many of my favorite CPs and I really don’t want to see that happen to them.

If you hear his reasoning for returning her the money with interest you will laugh. That man is delusional!! He…
I was rolling my eyes during that chapter. This was his POV:

"Back then, he had exerted every ounce of his willpower to resist the feelings that defied his better judgment, yet he still ended up doing so many inexplicable things.

When repaying her money, he would deliberately return extra, secretly hoping she would ask why—just so he could casually tell her it was his earnings from dabbling in the stock market.

The financial markets were never a sure bet. His initial capital had been a mere thirty thousand yuan. If he had lost it, it would have taken him much longer to repay her. Fortunately, he had made a profit. The excitement and sense of accomplishment in that moment couldn’t be matched, not even by the vast fortunes he later maneuvered in the secondary market with billions at his disposal. At the time, despite being determined to distance himself, he had desperately longed for her surprised, admiring gaze—just like the way she had looked at him when he brought out a plate of fried rice from Jiang Rui’s kitchen."

At least he understood where he went wrong and realized that he was an insecure manchild. He did the bare minimum by saying he was sorry.
