Jack :): Joke
Look started with a bang and not going to sugar coat it, it had a ton of weaknesses. A lot of things that didn't work for me personally, the fact that next to YinWar I got so attached to Hope and Save , and there were times when you will be screaming YOU HURT MY BABY PLEASE JUST TAKE ME BACK TO HIM FFS and then you'll get some crumbs at some point that were never quite satisfying but hey, I figured it was because of the length of the season being only 12.The second thing was at times the writing is weak and other times it's good and most side characters , not all but most, if you get attached, the characterization was weak.
Even Carbon's character should have been a lot more frequent because it was chaotic and entertaining like Hope.
Look, who doesn't love yet another iteration of their favorite established couple?
It's YinWar , they have chemistry! And I waited so long after being left with some major proverbial blue balls when that video of them came out that gets you excited holy shit YinWar are going to be in this crime fiction bl! Just to realize it's was merely a promotion for their concert.
And then this happened at long last, and yes it's natural to have high expectations.
I'm a sucker for enemies to lovers, slow burn, crime fiction, all of it!
But my main issue with this particular story was that at the very least one of them should have been proper 'bad' especially Jack, because that whole thing where he's actually trying to help people afflicted by Boss, instead of actually being a loan shark made his character weak because it was just Joke's character then who started fucking up. But even his character for the most part remains the same good vs evil thing.
Another thing that wasn't working for me, the whole school thing. It would have been okay if it was just something they did sparingly but they didn't.
So I m seeing a lot of divided opinions about the special episode, which I'm just going to tell you this: you want something cutesy with YinWar don't watch the special and stay delulu for as long as possible. I didn't and now I'm fucking suffering. Anyway jokes apart for me personally, holy shit, it was damn dark and SO MUCH ANGST! Freaking loved it.
Also I felt bad for Boss's son too even though he was spoiled and awful to Joke and the rest along with Hope, I didn't mind so much, though again his character is weak still I got into it and feel bad about all the bullying he received even from the friends.
I didn't ship him with tattoo. Just again weakly written characters.
What I did like the whole games bit and the loan shark arc because half the time it's a bunch of hot people doing some pretty decent action, getting severely beat up, or crying. Angst and hot people getting bloody. Is my jam.
And the fact that it goes from dark and angst to crack levels of comedy. Love all the cutesy wholesome stuff . These folks even nailed the sound track.
Also the whole arc with Grandma, and even Joke's family and his father, loved it! Angsty but goodie.
And now for my opinion on the special episode which I'm just going to call finale.
I was HEARTBROKEN.
I just had a bad feeling when Nang gave the predictions about them being fated and when Joke said something like no matter what happens and where I end up, I will find my way back to you. I knew that was sus ! I was fucking terrified.
The MOMENT Carbon and the casino folks started beating the shit out of the friends, I knew it. Knew what would follow when Carbon practically pulls joke away and by then I was already crying and then he takes Joke near the water and I knew something was going down and as expected.
I knew it would happen and still a veteran like me I was crying .
Just gets worse from there.
Just watching Jack just suffering was damn so painful to watch and experience.
The way he got so fucking delusional it breaks your heart.
And then even I have no idea what the post credit scene even made me feel tbh.
I just remember screaming and additional tears.
That is all.
End of Rant/review.

I love Santa so much! so I'm definitely not unhappy I watched it but this one is I guess not to my taste.
You know I love Earth too, especially in UWMA and I m following them as a couple on it IG and watching them all the time but this series itself is severely lacking.
I mean I can handle a little bit of cringe lol but showing a grown man act like a teenager, namely Earth in Eiw's role is just cringe on another level as his completely uninteresting character.
I just don't like the whole anti smoking bs either.
it becomes too much.
The thing is putting Earth in this role was just a bad idea. It's not that his acting was bad, but the direction and writing was not great and just didn't make an impact on me apart from a few scenes.

Honestly the ending was just one of the most satisfying for this type of drama.
The whole point of the story wasn't just about schizophrenia or multiple identity disorder so I didn't mind that the science and research were a little dated. The point of the story - and its rather depressing and nihilistic - that people make it impossible to live without using violence. The psychiatrist guy villain, was basically everything in life that forces you to question your faith, hope, love and even devotion.
But while he had to use his other violent self, the protagonist eating an 'apple' only when the dark self comes up, like being kicked out of heaven wouldn't be so bad so long as the apple is tasty - where the Apple is symbolic of desire, anger, evil.
People are saying the ending was ambiguous but it really wasn't, like Strangers in Hell there was no ambivalence about the other self taking over.
Even the mysteries they were solving were very well constructed and fresh .
What got to me the worst prob was Sharp's death. I don't know what it was but there was a devastating sadness in the way it happened.
But why not 10 rating?
Tbh I've said this before, the three characters Li Jia, Chacha, Cheng had great chemistry, ah that scene in the forest where Cheng goes missing and the other two go looking for him, I've not wanted three people to not break up this much since 3 will be free. Like the way all of them kept assuming the other person was in love with one of them, it was just so cute! And holy gay fujoshi Lord that scene where Joseph and Cheng get tazed and tortured by the necro lunatic in the morgue lol just watch it okay , you're welcome XD
But I was soooooo disappointed when they ended up making it a typical het love in the second half I was so frustrated.
And also I feel like the ending and the subject matter deserved less cutesy het love, just my opinion.
Other than that I loved it

Honestly, Phun and Noh are now officially on the Knock and Korn level for me now. They are relatable, with faults and shortcomings but never shallow. And only Captain can get away with being ridiculously beautiful in that shitty hair lol but seriously they have chemistry but also the relationship itself feels organic and the dialog just devastatingly beautiful.
Ahhhhh I'm glad there's a new season coming up! I can't wait.

everything you could see a mile away as far as story is concerned
The one dimensional characters interact in a plot less film with more one dimensional character.s
It's just very forgettable
Even gore wise it's nothing extraordinary
I don't know what most people see in this one but maybe it's more famous in people who don't usually watch horror movies because it's a very basic plot and execution
Sometimes I guess simple things make sense to people personallyI don’t get the hype

They even somehow added a flimsy plot about the swim team going to manila and encountering the most ridiculously hilarious European bullies who could not have been more corny. And an even more flimsy plot about both ljs and sig falling for some chick who was more lame than the cardboard cut out supporting characters, when it's pretty obvious they're only into each other, ffs at one point SIG even introduces LJS to HIS DEAD FATHER instead of the girl like wtf!
Anyway, I gotta say I felt bad for SIG and LJS. They deserve better.

At no point did I get bored or feel like it should have been something else. The mystery will keep you guessing till the end and what a perfect ending!
I don't think I can rant about Woo Do Hwan or Taecyeon enough but they're both gorgeous and acted so well they and Seo Ye Ji made me go through all kinds of emotion.
Seriously credit goes to all the cast who made this fantasy come alive, especially Jo Sung Ha who always delivers a memorable performance. As the influential cult leader he made his character come to life.
Another great thing about the show was the Bromance! Taecyeon and Do Hwan were so good! Perfect mix of angst and love. But pretty much everyone else in the group of four school friends, and even Woo Do Hwans prison Hyung, they all showed that they could rely on each other.
I love how their friends never questioned Taecyeon or Woo Do Hwans ideas and actually were so courageous always! It was so heartbreaking to see them get hurt. I also really got invested in Dae Shiks story, I'm glad for the way it turned out.
*Minor spoiler ahead* I know it's more of a bittersweet ending in some ways, but I think it was the perfect fit for the show *end of spoiler*
So I'm happy I watched this definitely one of the best dramas out there.

that whole part about the anti gun PSA rhetoric really did not work for me, and the finale , well it could have been better but the ride that got me there was just so entertaining and exciting it works for me, all of it. People getting bullied and the only savior is some guy with a gun.
I like how chaotic things get toward the end, but I mean personally I don't like that whole ml saving the kid and then suddenly everything just gets resolved, that makes no sense because when you get a weapon in your hands you don't care who gets hit but for me it bugged me not so much because it is unrealistic but because the whole lame goody cop who saves lives is just damn boring! There's very little nuance to this character. He never once actually struggled with anything at all, that might work for an antagonist, but for a main lead it gets boring fast when you can literally just know what he's going to do, namely: save people and not agree to the antagonists plans.
There are plenty of similar issues because the ml is just waaay too much of the good guy with a gun character that really doesn't work for me. Did I still enjoy the two ml and their dynamic, yes I did! Very much so!
Also by now it should not be a surprise to anyone else that I love a hot sociopath ! And Kim Yong Kwang's visuals and acting all pretty much on point. That whole thing with his past how he was abandoned by the mother and then the turn of events, I could write a whole thesis lol but I will not.
Just wanted to say all of it was genuinely my favorite, despite the fact that yes*spoiler alert* as a guy with TERMINAL cancer, his character I mean looking this hot is one thing, but that entire action all of it he is able to do, pretty sure it's not something an actual person with a terminal illness does but thatx said they did kind of show him taking drugs, morphine or whatever, so I suppose they did kind of retcon this and it's fiction! Don't need it to be realistic for me personally tbh. But at the very least his character keeps you on your toes even if you are not on his side, because at least all the chaos he wanted to bring, he pretty much did make it happen! My guy really went out with a bang!
So yes, these are my honest feelings for the show.
Thank you for coming to my Ted talk <3

Was trying to get into pit babe because they have a new season coming which despite having Pavel and so much promise plot and production value wise could not get into it after trying it again and again multiple times I just don't like the character Babe is with he's just SO FUCKING BORING YE GODS And this came in my feed and is a fun to watch but then I started to get just as bored as I do with any gmmtv show or even pit babe.
The story is pretty much the same one night stand with the guy being the doctor like one of the LM side couples but they took the whole boxing part and made that the main plot and then the whole smut/spice is pretty lacking too. Mostly because they don't go as far idk the actors choice but that doesn't bug me if that was the only issue with this one because there's barely any plot. The side couple was actually decent enough but most of it was so full on cringe I honestly couldn't tell you what the Boxer guy was actually studying.
It's more geared towards people who want something cute and with these particular actor/actors.
Just not for me personally.
