They changed my cute pouty lips boy with this huge charismatic actor ,,, not complaining but I see them totally…
Cheng Yi (Pouty Lips) is great in this one, he plays the teenage role of Zhu Di so well, but as we know he can't carry on playing the role of the ruthless Fourth Prince / Emperor, you need someone more mature and stronger. Yes they are different as chalk and cheese.
It's tag as a historical fiction. So don't get your knickers twisted and upperty about it with your history books spread out in front of you . It's a drama and not a documentary. As I am only into my episode 11, I am certainly chasing to catch up with the drama as I have started the drama rather late. So far It can easily be one of the best dramas this year. The acting on all fronts are great, I love Cheng Yi in this one and also Feng ShaoFeng is excellent as well. I can literally think and feel in this drama, as most of the scenes' background music are kept to the bare essentials, devoid of distraction. I hope the drama keeps up with the pace and consistency.
There is some romance in the drama as it is not the main focus. It's a drama a man can also watch without cringing, and definitely not for silly individuals.
I always like Ethan Juan acting, he is not afraid of the camera and he does not intimidate. I have just started watching this drama and found out a lot of negative reviews, and Iet's see how bad it is...
Its a case of good storyline potential but failed in the script! Director also have problem with interpreting the script. The combination has made the FL character rather weak and irritating in more ways than one. The ending F everything up nicely.
I can't remember if I had post a comment in here after the first time I watched it and what was my impression of it. After just over year I decided to revisit it, and I must say I found it even more appealing the first time round. I feel for the Empress and I feel for the Emperor, the depiction of their love forlorn was kept inside themselves and was never revealed or expressed made it the more heart-wrenching to watch the couple grappling with their feeling for each other hidden. The drama is beautifully made, and all the nuances are just spot on, and how they ignorant of each others' feelings towards one another, made it frustratingly sad and yet beautiful. If we set our mind to the Song Dynasty of that period, we can feel the conservatism and reservation that governs every one from the Emperor right down the citizens. So magnificent and so regal. I can watch it again and again.. If I have four thumbs they will al be pointing up..
DON'T take this comment seriously, its just a tongue-in-cheek rant!
Came across this small romantic drama purely by accident. I like the lead and saw him in a few period dramas, and thought I should watch this modern drama. The lead actress is very pretty too, so it would be good.
The story is small in many ways, sweet and with the right pacing, and I like it! nothing overly dramatic. BUT by Episode 12 I am completely exhausted! The acting of the ML and FL is quite quite good, it was the script that repetitive and relentless little misunderstandings mainly on the female part was irritating! I have heard of 'There's a million ways to skin a cat' and ' There are 101 violent acts in 30 minutes of Road Runner Show", if there is an award for Most Misunderstandings in a Drama, Love At Night will win hands down, averaging 3 in a single episode, and there are 30, my horrendous maths serve me well, that would be 90 misunderstandings in the entire drama. Not a good sign for a courtship to begin with. She is trouble, RUUUUUUNNNNNN man RUUUUNNNNNNNN
8.9 rating.. really?? I know it's a comedy, but its verging on ridiculously stupid. I can't even call it slap stick! The FL, you can be funny but you don't have to be vulgar! The acting I have to admit is very good! But the funny plot is not funny in fact very low brow and rather crude, not as in manners but in writing style. I would rate it 7 not 8.9... I am watching it because when they are not stupid and crude, it's quite good. Yes I do sound contradictory, but that's what this romcom is. I never once broke out in laughter, strange, because I would normally laugh at anything vaguely funny or humorous... Having said that, I have yet to finish a single episode of a Chinese comedy drama. After all that negative rant, I am hooked and can't wait to see what happened in the next episode! hahahaha
I would skip from 30 and watch 34 for the ending which is all of 10 minutes .. anything before is such a waste of time.. Such a shame though .. so strong characters development spoilt by script writing and pacing... one villain with a master behind him not reveal until last few episodes. Its like they are writing for a 2 hours movie instead of a 34 episodes drama. No excuse that they have a team of writers, what was the team leader doing? Sleeping?? Opps sorry.. more ranting..n
I started watching it because I saw the FL in The Sleepless Princess and thought I will give it a go. ok its a comedy and its quirky and I can handle that... then in Episode 7 or 8 and saw how she attacked the bowl of noodle her maid brought in... my coffee came spewing out of my mouth in disbelieve! I had to wipe every thing that was in the way..... Bluddy hell! Is that even allowed? One of the worst table manners I have ever come across in my life!!! If she is holding a stick, then its excusable.. a pair of chopsticks? Really! And what? 50s evening gowns with beadings Really? Did they raid a local wedding store? Oh the amount of white foundation they put on the ML face (but not his neck) is enough to pollute the entire South China Sea with just one dip.
I agree!! He has a unique and QUITE a sexy voice... He is in Be My Princess, which is looking good by the way, but they dubbed his voice, not happy with that. I rather they keep his real voice,
