He's not made into a villain, we just don't like him with any of the girls, that's it. It's about preferences
He did lots of wrong things. He kept YR on a leash for 7 years instead of confessing his live - if he has any - or letting her go. Since he was dating and in love with JH and everyone knew that, he had to come out and confess to YR. Instead, JP kept YR as a kind of a "side chick" for SEVEN YEARS. He is brutally closed off and shut down
I don't see how that poor guy is anywhere in the wrong
Bologney!!!! You confess to learn about the others' feelings. Esp since he was in love with JH, he had to come out and confess to YR instead of keeping her on a leash for 7 years.
There has been an anti-Jae Pil sentiment since the beginning of this drama. First because Yeong Rye's feelings…
JP is a shut down closed up zipped up character and that is his character fault. I defended JP in the past when he was a teenager - he was wounded so it was ok to be like that. And sure, YR did not confess, and he was not at fault for falling in love with JH,
However, TODAY I am totally against JP bc he is the only character who has not changed one iota from the past and is still as closed zipped up selfish person, who has used YR for getting attention from her for 7 years, and held her on the leash of hope and unrequited love for 7 years. JP is unfit for a relationship. He does not love anyone. He kept YR as a form of "side chick" for SEVEN YEARS. Nuf already
IF you think he has done nothing wrong then you are really sexist. He used her!!! YR could not say anything for 7 years bc she knew he loved JH. It was JP who had to come out and say to YR - I love you now. BUT HE NEVER DID.
Imo YR was a doormat and a coward to wait that long :) She should have gone out with other guys. She basically consented to the role of ... babysitter mistress kinda, for SEVEN YEARS. That's unhealthy
JP is a spoiled brat and YR made him that way, doting on him for 7 yrs
She is not supposed to be a good person. Have you actually been watching the show, or are you just looking for…
Apparently you did not read my posts for this drama, although I asked you to check, and so you completely missed the mark - I praised this drama in some posts.... Seems like ou were blinded by your desire to pursue FURTHER conflict with that person who irritated you. It is good to learn to be more impartial, dont you think? And when someone bothers us so much, it is good to analyze oneself and figure out WHY we allow that person to push our buttons - do we think we can do that bc there is no consequences? or that person reminds us of something we have or wish to have or are told to hate? Being a human is slippery :) Each user here has the right to form their own opinions on the art we are watching. If some user totally annoys you with their opinions, then just block them :) if you cannot handle seeing their posts. The fact that you are annoyed is a red flag :) a great chance to practice Inner Work
I am gonna repeat myself since some ppl haven't noticed- this drama is refreshing bc it is different. Typical kdrama is for women from 1950, who are doormats and passive and clumzy and then magically get saved. Such FL goes from an indirect villain, i.e. ENABLER of evil, to someone on her feet. Like, in Queen's House This drama is modern, it applies to all working women these days and in fact anyone who does not have the money and power to do whatever they want but has to figure out ways to accomplish what they want :) So this FL is smarter than typical old kdramas because SHE IS ACTIVE, SHE INTENTIONALLY TAKES STEPS TO MOVE ON FORWARD, AND SHE TAKES THE CHANCE WHEN SHE SEES IT But bc this is a story, and all stories are ultimately about the battle between good and evil, the FL starts rather ignorant AND TAKES THE WRONG PATHS AND CHOICES. And creates a mess. So, WHY AND HOW she made those choices, and how can she FIX the mess she created, are **** the **** question of this drama.
===== So imo this is why this drama is so captivating, bc it applies to all of us ordinary people!!!! WHEN ARE PUSHED INTO THE CORNER. WHEN EVERYTHING WE TRIED DID NOT WORK, WHAT DO WE DO? DO WE RESORT TO CHEATING OR WE TRY TO FIGURE OUT A SOLUTION WE DID NOT SEE BEFORE? THat is the key question of this drama. It is about normal people, not high level ppl with money or power, etc.
This is not a chaebol story or assassin or powerful person story. this is a story of an ordinary person with limited resources, limited connections, and limited power. The story of most of us :)
That question is also explored in Walking on Thin Ice, where also an easy cop-out decisions are made by TWO people (who eventually form a team) and their bad decisions lead to major chaos and disasters since they sell drugs so there are really gross things happening. In Graceful Liar, chaos and disasters are less gross but equally significant, ppl are harmed in significant ways, and now we have a team of THREE against Kangs :)
But this drama is really a game where everyone is against everyone else, watching only for their own self interest. So a whole group of ppl making wrong choices and sometimes joining against others. LIFE AS MOST PPL LIVE :)
***** So some of the audience are saying - FL was wronged and she is totally justified to take revenge against everyone. Sure, RealYC and her mother did wrong FL and should be held accountable in some way. But why drag RealYC's brother into this? Why drag the future husband and inlaws into this, when they have never even met RealYC? Why crush the heart of the future husband by deceiving him?
So who says that FakeYC is totally fine in treating her fiance as if he were a toy for her perusal? *****
THIS DRAMA BASICALLY HAS THE SAME PLOT AS THE OLD STORY OF PINNOCHIO - do we take the choice to skip "work and school" and do something easy and appealing? Ha Neul is somewhat equivalent to the Cricket, he is the only voice of sanity of this drama. But Ha Neul is not perfect and fell pray to his own darkness and complacency and did not stop anything on time. If he had said aloud what he was thinking.... then this plot would never happen. The thinking of FL is her inner Cat and Fox lol tricking her into making wrong choices...
So these are some heavy questions that ALL of us face in our daily lives :) That is why the drama is interesting - HOW AND WHY we make the choices we make...... and once we go down the bad path, how do we come back and fix the mess we created.
I think the ideal solution is to somehow peel off from this bad karma and just move on forward without paying any attention to these people and outschine everyone below, that indirect revenge is the best revenge. In other words, FL becomes the world designer on her own and ... shows up on TV as rich and famous :) No drama LOL But geting there would be a lot of drama :) but a different drama. Some ppl say it is a common plot. I have never seen it in any kdrama and I watched zillions of them.
I wont ever blame fl. The world treated her cruelly for decades. She's resentful and honestly if i was in her…
Hm I have never seen that plot (applying for a competition or interview etc and climbing up) and I have seen zilions of kdramas. I havent watched dailies but such a sane plot never happens in dailies :) . PErhaps I have not watched mbc dramas :)
I think @mirmirshasha summarizes my sentiment on this drama: "Nothing justifies their selling drugs. I just hope they can get out of this mess safely and alive, even if it means ending up behind bars."
I also add to this: I hope they have deep inner transformation and start a new happy straight-and-narrow life on a clean slate. James and FL have bad histories of bad choices - seems like James killed someone and had no support, and FL stayed so long in a suffocating marriage that turned her into a clinkety monotone robot - and both of them solved their problems by more bad decisions to go down the bad path.... so now.... .... they are in a tar pit in hell and need to get out asap before it is too late.
Yeah I don't think anyone assumes he will ditch her. I personally don't even want him with JH as an end game anymore.…
i cannot tell what you are replying to, but seems like you think JP is warm and caring, and I think he isnt. He is politely and distantly warm and caring, which is like being caring to your little sister or old adjuma next doo.
Not yet. He is still to cold and reserved and using her for attention . HE needs to step up his game and be a…
yeah, exactly. If JH can get him off his footing then he never had love for YR. I saw that he acted caring and warm to YR but not enough. Emotionally, it is always about HER giving to him, not vice versa
I agree with a lot of what you said and I felt those same things. However, I decided to continue watching and…
ok. If I were you, I would think why.
I watched some really good acting dramas and I can tell, this one does not have such amazing acting. It is pretty good most of the time, and for some parts great.
I think also they didnt put the side stories on the screen enough. 2ML and Chaufer love stories are fun and we should see more
She still likes JP a lot
and apparently he likes her too... bc he never confessed to YR yet
However, TODAY I am totally against JP bc he is the only character who has not changed one iota from the past and is still as closed zipped up selfish person, who has used YR for getting attention from her for 7 years, and held her on the leash of hope and unrequited love for 7 years.
