rewatching after i finished my rewatch of penthouse and i think what drags this down sm is that there is almost no characters to truly root for. like why would i care about anyones suffering or pain if theyre ALL horrible people, just different forms of evil? i think by far my least favorite part about this is the lack of continuity tho, its not as bad in s1 but its AWFUL in s2. actions have no weight. everything is a joke. it becomes pathetic lee joon's character is as good as it gets and hes rlly nice eye candy so there is that
Funny how they stopped the streaming for a few days to edit better the episodes. This is the result? Short episode…
Finding out about all the AMAZING deleted scenes is actually hurting my heart. It would've felt so much more complete if they didn't just completely sabotage EP19-24 like that
The warmth that it has given us for two months is simply hard to let go of... Now that it has ended, it feels…
This entire reply thread articulated so perfectly what I've been feeling all day and now the waterworks are happening again. I took a nap with one of the OST songs playing while I slept and woke up to this looming sadness and reminder that it's really over. For better or for worse, this show has changed my life and I can't stop thinking about all that it made me feel.
Fun fact(or may be not) the ending song was sung by the actor of Gu Chengyu, Zhan Xuan And man that voice and…
And Zi Yu sang the intro :') They both did such an impeccable job, the quality of both are fantastic regardless of knowing that Zi Yu or Wang Zhen are behind them
The OST is honestly underrated, I'm listening to the ending song right now and cant stop crying. I'm really gonna miss this series. It made me feel so at home.
My favorite BL ever. A solid 10/10 because my enjoyment, love, and connection for this show has been so beyond empowering, much more than anything I've watched in the last couple of years. This show made me feel so full of love, and it's crazy because from the surface its riddled with cliches. But the performance, character development, genuine love... all of it perfectly encapsulated LOVE and the feelings that come with being same sex male AND the relationship aspect. It was a story about personhood honestly. I think most of my tears were poured during EP19 and EP20 when I couldn't accept how fast it was ending (and Ziyu's phenomenal performance, among other things)
Will say, I had a few complaints with the last batch of episodes. I had a feeling no kiss scenes were coming out beyond EP22(?) which was their first kiss together on set. I think EP24 could have massively used a bit more physical touch, but at the same time this was their arc about being so in love so it's very refreshing to see a progression past and how their love manifests in different ways.
I am also hesitant on recommending the show to my friends. The SA undertones (not even undertones if were being real) of CC were SO fucking useless and unnecessary to the character. I love everything about this show, and will defend the actors endlessly, but I feel anyone who makes that criticism is ultimately right. They provide no greater purpose.
Finale being 33 minutes and cutting the grave scene was such a mistake. I was frustrated with how they bring back the mains together with no communication scene, but have a 5 minute scene including WS and WZ. Like dont get me wrong — it was refreshing. But WZ and WS had no purpose coming back. And god, the finale had a rushed aspect that was really sad to accept. Every fleeting moment was beautiful which is maybe why I feel this way because I refuse to let go 🤧 There were also many awkward cuts between the last batch of EPs (the bodyguard scene, the bathtub scene ending abruptly)
They often suffered from including filler scenes contributing nothing and scenes that would have definitely contributed to the emotional weight being cut (cannot stress the grave scene enough :( )
Learning about the language nuances in this show makes everything 100x special.
Seriously it's pushing me to want to learn Chinese SO badly because I just know everything they're saying is 50x more romantic and not knowing it all is killing me
i think its because they shot the series backwards, last episode (21) was their first kissing scene together on…
Oh so im completely off base here, LOL sorry for my wrong assumptions! I'm curious how did you figure this out? Was it from cfans? Because i really wanna know a source for the timeline for filming, a lot of people are saying diff stuff 😔
I think the episodes were planned to be that long but maybe they cut some parts due to censorship etc.....
See I would've thought the same but if they were worried about NC scenes then would we really have the bathtub scene? Or Chengyu and Doctor NC scene last episode? I don't know maybe theyre trying to protect the actors as much as possible but it seems weird now
im going to die before the chinese government allows it
Yeah it's honestly so heartbreaking, anti fans track these famous celebrities, chase after them, push phones in their face while you can see just how exhausted they were. Ziyu had a blanket over his head and you could tell was just holding back. These people were SCREAMING on the plane and flight attendants were trying to push them back to get out but they just wouldnt. These people are super rich and wealthy so they exploit this and get off to whatever demented hatred they push. As for the smear campaigns, there was a bunch of fake dating/cheating scandals that got debunked but took a hit on Ziyus names. It was quite obvious they were only revealing this because of Ziyu's sudden fame, you may have heard of it here and there. There's a very plausible theory that Ziyu's ex company was paying for controversy to boil in his name, even though he clearly communicated and was in the victim in this case. It was really heartbreaking to watch. He's went through SO much and he deserves success more than ever.
On the bright side of things, Ziyu recently performed at a festival I believe and did an awesome job! He's been releasing music for a while and you can tell is definitely entering a happier phase. I just want the best for the both of them, despite being boosted into stardom overnight. I hate the people ruining it all for them.
P.S if anyone has any corrections to make please do so because this is all from my hazy memory and I could be entirely wrong

The interviews and stuff from RL are from last year, they shot the entire show last year. But in terms of as the show being aired, we havent had any public acknowledgement from either side (but they're obviously hinting how happy they are, recently Ziyus friend posted a picture of him watching the show [illegally since its not accessible in the mainland LMFAO] and today he was spotted in a pic showing off the art installation logo of the fake company CCwei in the show hahaha) Unfortunately the series is almost too popular it's caused them more harm than good , which is why CJD advises people from the mainland not to talk about episodes with NC scenesshfksjfksf but people always end up doing so 😭 It's definitely just a thing among keeping the actors safe at this point, they've been through SO much and its definitely contributed why to the reason we cant see them publicly or have the series rollout like it was before. Even ABO desire with all its connections had some trouble a few weeks ago, I think it got pulled off iqiyi and a few others.

Tian and Ziyu are like, insanely huge now because of RL. I'm pretty sure Tian Xu Ning's post on Weibo is the most liked in August. They havent publicly interacted during any of the airing for RL as far as I'm aware. They have been getting harassed and mobbed (and I don't mean just airport crowding but like people finding Ziyu's flights and hurling homophobic insults and calling him worthless trash), as well as a bunch of smear campaigns in the past couple of weeks. Unfortunately they dont have that much protection
Honestly I wish they were shameless and made the episodes as long as they can be (around 45/46 mins) because a good 5-7 minutes worth of runtime can go soooo far. but at the same time i understand lol it would get too draggy for some people
