He was great in ep 11 and quit commenting on his looks everytime you people want to say something about him
Ignore the user. If you want to say something about his looks, do that. Almost everybody knows that Cha Eun-woo is casted because of his looks, not because of his acting skills. Some people just want to pretend that this wasn't true.
I wouldn't say, though, that Cha Eun-woo couldn't act at all. In the later episoded of his drama, he showed a range of facial expressions which were quite convincing, in my opinion. Compared to other actors in his drama, his acting is not the best but he seems to put effort into at least a few scenes.
This drama is very good at showing human characters. Even the support roles had unique stories. Everybody had his flaws. Unfortunately, this drama felt fairly draggy, so I fast-forwarded a lot. It would have been better if it consisted of 8 or 12 episodes only instead of 16. ML's additonal drama in the last episodes did not add anything to the overall story. Also ML's and FL's past were repeated over and over again without adding any new aspect to the story, which felt repetitive and boring. Last but not least, after the characters had worked on the construction side for so many episodes, I was fairly surprised that there was no real ending in this respect. The story felt rather incomplete to me.
I think I will drop this or just skip through, so can someone briefly just tell me what happened between ep 7-10?
At the end of episode 8, ML kisses FL (dog). We also see the first true kiss between ML and FL (human). As of ep. 8, FL's and ML's story seems to be basically over because there are no real goals anymore regarding their relationship. They are a cute couple now, and that's it.
The rest focusses on SML's tragic story. I haven't dropped this drama (yet) because I found he Joseon(?) story relatively interesting.
If you don't like so-called idols, check the actors's bios, for example, here on MDL. If you don't like how the ML or any other actor in this drama looks, don't watch this drama. Nobody is able to tell you "how bad" this drama is.
Yeah, it's a bit baffling that she adapted to the modern world in no time while Yeon-woo keeps struggling with…
What? Sa-wol is also from Joseon? No way!!!!!! Thanks for pointing this out. It's not like my previous post implied that. Of course, you are absolutely right. Since she's from Joseon and an illiterate maid, we don't need any explanations or scenes that show her struggling or learning in the modern world. As maid from Joseon, she's basically a modern woman. Only highly educated people such as the FL struggle because illiterate people don't have any problems in our modern world let alone in Seoul. Thanks to you, I finally realised that this is what the writers actually wanted to tell us. :)
It depends on what you expect. The last scene in the last episode implies that ML and FL are becoming a couple.
Actually, the happy ending makes no sense at all in the context of the story. Both FL and ML committed a grave "sin" for which they would have been killed. The risk of getting killed was a huge topic in many episodes. However, for whatever reason, this subject suddenly got dropped and forgotten in the last episodes. The ending also felt a bit rushed. Maybe the writers didn't want us to think too much about the "forgotten" details. XD
If you are looking for a happy ending with marriage and happy family scenes, this drama is probably not what you are looking for.
Is the grandfather even a human?!! He knows KTH has heart problem, and till forces him to become the CEO?! Like…
The grandpa is a really ambiguous character. First, he's joking around with FL, then doing shady stuff, then being nice to ML, then being not so nice. I hope we'll get an explanation for his odd behaviour in the remaining episodes.
Also Sa Wol's aegyo is a bit too much for me at this point. She was really funny in the first episodes, when she…
Yeah, it's a bit baffling that she adapted to the modern world in no time while Yeon-woo keeps struggling with the simplest things. Sa-wol seems to know things she could not know and nothing seems to surprise her, not even the technology, which must look like magic for Joseon people.
Jeon So-nee is such a beautiful woman. If she hadn't been so pretty, I would have dropped this drama because her character was so annoying. She knew everything better, whenever somebody said something, she repeated it to make it look as if it had been her idea.
The female characters in this drama were incredibly stupid and unable to keep a secret. What annoyed me most was the fact that they claimed that they wanted to keep their true identity a secret but, in every other scene, they talked about it loudly as if there were no people who could overhear them through those paper walls.
All in all, it was a nice drama, albeit a bit draggy.
Gotta love makjang logic lol.. I'm shocked you think I left your mother, here I just so happen to have this letter…
Yeah, I was surprised that he believed some magical letter a few minutes after his father told him the truth which he didn't believe. Everybody could forge such a letter.
Also, it is fairly unrealistic that the father kept this a secret for years and never corrected his son in all those decades. It was a fairly underwhelming secret.
BTW, about Yoo Ra, I've a little confusion. Nobody knows that she isnβt the real daughter of Ji Woong. Nobody…
In one of the episodes, the stepfather said to her mother that she brought Yoo-ra into the marriage, so we can assume that he knew that Yoo-ra wasn't his. Apparently, Yoo-ra and FL were the only ones who didn't know that.
But you are right. We don't know if the stepfather dropped her or if she's just too ashamed to reappear in front of him.
Childhood trauma and abuse causes something called Complex ptsd and a major symptom of Complex PTSD is apathy.…
Maybe it is because FL was treated in a different way than you. There was a lot of subtle mental manipulation going on in her life. See, for example, the poisoning of her food. All those years, she believed that it was the housekeeper who tried to kill her.
In the other episodes, we see that her adoptive mother didn't treat her badly at first but rather ignored her. Later, when the mother learnt who she really is, she tried to get rid of FL but not in an obvious way. She's good at manipulating and gaslighting people. Otherwise, it would not have made any sense for the mother to ask FL if she could cover up for her in episode 1.
FL learnt about her mother's true thoughts and feelings at the end of episode 1.
This drama is for entertainment, not a biography. If we are honest, nobody likes violent people even if we understand their reasons. Nobody likes mental health issues even if we understand that those people are not necessarily "bad people". It is difficult to make a successful drama by copying the real life. And by successful, I mean that a significant number of people watch it, so the creators of a drama earn money. People often think that their life was so interesting and relevant that somebody should write a book or make a film about them but, actually, most people's lives are just boring.
By the way, I know maaaany people who put their parents or other people on a pedestral even though they are treated badly by those people on their pedestral. It's not like they are completely dumb but when it comes to their pedestrals, they are very willing to throw their brains out of the window and ignore everything that might destroy their illusion.
She lost the weight in order to look sick and terrible. If you read the webtoon, she has cancer so she has to…
Being concerned about somebody's health isn't body shaming even though certain morbidly obese people try to make us believe that. PMY was slim in her past dramas but, at least, she looked healthy and pretty there. Knowing how toxic the film industry is, I am very concerned that people in power and "fans" encourage PMY to lose even more weight claiming that she would remain relevant then. They are liars. In my opinion, PMY should be popular for her acting skills, good choice of dramas and maybe also for her pretty face but definitely not for the mere ability to lose (or gain) an unhealthy amount of weight. If we are honest, all those dramas are not worth it to ruin anybody's health. Most people watch them and forget them almost immediately.
I have watched till Episode 10. Can't wait for new episode tomorrow. Honestly, the Storyline is abit weak in this,…
Lee Jung-hye is not FL's biological mother in this drama. She is Han Yoo-ra's and looks old enough to be her mom. Also, she looks like one of those plastic surgery addicted moms who are in a constant competition with their daughter to get compliments like "you could be sisters". I think she is old enough and has got the right face for this role.
I've just watched episode 1. The FL fighting against multiple men was sooooo ridiculous. Everybody was waiting for her doing her slow moves. I hope this will get better because everything else looked quite promising.
I doubt that the rating on MDL will affect the careers of the actors and writers. Watching the drama on legal…
Ah, yes, what you wrote makes sense. I forgot that some potential viewers might get affected by MDL but I still doubt that "we" matter so much. On Viki, basically all dramas have at least a rating of 9. Only the reeeeeally bad ones have a rating of less than 9.
People follow everybody on social media who appeared on screen. See, for instance, Netflix actors. Nobodys become famous overnight (and quickly become irrelevant again). Also, Cha Eun-woo is an idol with a whole marketing team behind him. They'll ensure that his dramas get watched.
For this reason, I am comfortable believing that my personal opinion and rating on this platform does not affect any actor's career. Otherwise, I would not rate anything because it would be too much responsibility for my taste.
