She really came from a different parallel world so she ended up poor and homeless in the new world. She does meet QL but QL in the novel was not romantically involved with his world’s JXY at all. They were only Highschool acquaintances. He already knew everything about the time travel and had guided a few time travelers before her. Novel is super different from the drama and there wasn’t really much romance . There really is a virus which is the reason for the time travel. In order to destroy the virus, she ultimately decides to stay in that world.

It’s real time travel. Jiang Xiaoyuan is really a rich girl that lost everything. She doesn’t go back in the end because she found something in that world to keep her there and because it’s impossible for her to go back.

I’m really hoping the drama doesn’t go the route of making JXY 2018 & 2025 the same person. Because if they did, then all that back and forth about distinguishing the difference between ML’s feelings towards both of them would be for nothing. If they were the same person, then it would still feel like ML only likes 2025 JXY because of 2018 JXY. Also I was kinda hoping that they made 2018 JXY evil 😆

The novel is completely different. There’s not really any romance in the novel so there is no ex lover. The novel doesn’t go over the previous JXY at all really

The time travel in the drama is much different. They pretty much revealed everything in the beginning of the novel about the time travel and the reason for it. The drama is taking a different route

Yes I definitely agree. I am enjoying the drama more than the novel for this reason. The suspense and mystery of the time traveling is more intriguing compared to the novel. I can’t wait to see how things play out

I see people here commenting on the focus of FL’s hairdressing/makeup story being unnecessary. I just want to say that the essence of the original novel does have this journey portraying FL’s character growth as she goes from spoiled rich kid to having nothing and finally making accomplishments on her own. The main focal point was never the time travel, but had always been about her finding a place and creating her own self worth in this unfamiliar world. I think the drama is doing a great job showing this.
