If I had known this would be so good, I’d have waited for all episodes to come out and binge-watched this. But…
Now I'm wondering if I should hold off until all the episodes are out.

Have you watched Search: WWW, or Chicago Typewriter? There’s Noona romance there
Search WWW is less of a romance in general and Chicago Typewriter despite the real ages of the actors and actresses, the dramas really aren't noona drama.

This was a fantastic watch and absolutely loved the old-school anime references such as Gundam and Macross they used in the beginning of the series but those initial outright references were only in the beginning but the show overall was abundantly filled with nostalgia as it's digging through the memories on our main Oji-san trio.

It was such a refreshing watch and when it does come to an end, you kinda left feeling wanting to see more of their adventures together.

Overall, I genuinely loved this show and giving it a strong 9.5 out of 10.

I just saw that the anime was announced for this light novel series. I'm going to watch the J-Drama soon.

I noticed that you can buy this on Amazon Prime but it seems to be only in SD, which is 480p. Thankfully I know a place.

I wouldn't say this type of drama is good for new forays into Cdrama. πŸ˜… Wuxia/xianxia/xuanhuan (which this…
I've seen the Rurouni Kenshin anime and the first 2 live-action movies, I usually don't add movies to my list over here at MDL, as I do want to keep it drama/shows only for the most part. I'll keep notes on all your recommendations, I think Reset, Mobius and Under the Skin interest me the most currently.

I'm not sure if it's K-Drama fatigue but just in general, I've felt that K-Dramas have just been kinda shit for the past 5 years with only a few decent ones along the way, might be to do with that they're pumping out so many mediocre K-Dramas, it's flood the market and diluted the quality of storytelling as well as watering down the uniqueness to appease a Western audience by sticking to a formula that they think will make sure the series gets maximum appeal. It's also the main reason I've been watching a lot of J-Dramas as of late and they've been a breath of fresh air, just wish there was more of them available on the main streaming platforms, Netflix and Prime have embraced them and putting them into their libraries.

I started watching it literally after a few minutes after I posted that, I just couldn't wait for a reply and went headfirst into it. Enjoying it thus far.

I've seen a few costume/period dramas over the year but not that many to be honest, I've watched are Alchemy of Souls (love this show but I hate the second season for just the female lead change....just hated it), Love Game in Eastern Fantasy. I usually try to find a murder mystery, crime detective show.

I was really itching for an Enemies to Lovers romance show, it can be either Japanese, Korean or Chinese. I was just struggling to find one, I find that when recent K-drama try to do the trope, the main leads are only enemies for like a few episodes and I hate it. K-Dramas have just been awful as of late (I mean like at least 5 years tbh), start great and then crumble after a few episodes.

I get what you are saying about Jdramas and Kdramas , I personally would like to watch more Jdramas but japan…
100% agreed and it's because the domestic audience is enough for the J-Drama market to function but K-Drama market needs the international audience. Hence, why there are far more niche and different stories being told in J-Dramas as they don't need to cater to the international audience in general.

They're putting a decent amount of them on Netflix recently (at least for the past 2 years before it felt like all they had was Alice in Borderland) and surprisingly, Amazon Prime has a large collection of J-Dramas, that they just don't market/advertise to their audience. Disney doesn't have much of a collection when it comes to J-Dramas but does have a few brilliant ones like Gannibal. Viki's J-Drama collection might be slightly bigger than Disney's but overall not that much or at least that's how it feels like to me.

I'm not subscribed to Kocowa and also this is from a UK perspective, so the UK version of those streaming services' catalogues. Obviously, there's a lot more J-Dramas out there and are just not on any of those platforms, I would end up using the back alley but for now, I'm content with just using the streaming services I have at hand.

I haven't watched this and looks like I ain't bothering with it. I'll be honest, there just hasn't been a good K-Drama in the past few years, only really a handful. However, the issue has always sort of plagued K-Dramas in general for a very long time with them just starting off really well and then just falling apart after a few episodes, then proceed to follow the same formula used by previous dramas.

I just feel like either the writers aren't good enough or give up after the initial premise or potentially studio constraints where executives demand certain scenarios to be in the show so that streaming services pick up the drama for the global audience. However, in doing so, you're just left with shoddy dramas.

"When the phone rings", the MDL audience in general really liked this show but my god, I couldn't help put think this show was just utter shit the whole time I was watching it, it just felt too dumb. I'm also someone that actually watches the show with no distractions, like I'm not fidgeting on my phone or using my laptop whilst I watch a drama....I'm solely watching the drama.

The K-Drama gems that I have watched from recent years are A Shop for Killers, Flex x Cops, Seoul Busters, Lovely Runner and Black Out. That is simply not enough when you take in account that's meant to cover 2024 to 2026 and you consider how many K-Dramas are pumped out every year.

Despite J-Dramas getting low ratings on MDL, I consistently find them brilliant and feel like I can't put them down with their breathtaking stories and they genuinely keep me engaged the entire time and are just refreshing to watch. Like with K-Dramas you can see way too many similarities between each other, almost makes you feel like you're watching the same again, it just hasn't been the case with the J-Dramas I have watched.

I've only seen 7 episodes because the UK region of VIKI only has it up to those episodes, episode 8 is coming out in 5 days time (at the time of this post).

Overall, I really like it, the synopsis on VIKI was a bit confusing at first because I was like are they twins or something. Then obviously after you start watching it, it becomes clear.

I read a few of the spoilers in this comment section of those who've already watched episode 8 and 9, all I'm gonna say that's interesting. Also, Goroku is a menace.

Why can't a 40+.be in a noona romance?
I want to see it too but I'm pretty sure there has been a noona romance with a young 50+ actress before, a few actually I think.

Is there a reason they shouldn't be?
I haven't watched a drama with him in it bar maybe "Be Melodramatic", which I don't think I have watched past the first episode.

However, I'm curious how this turns out.

"LOOK AT ME!!!", that was pretty much like "Would you Kindly" of BioShock, I thought it would be the case. Obviously, it was way more impactful in BioShock though.

This was a bit of a struggle to get through for me. I think the actual characters of the story are pretty awesome, the music is brooding and helps sets the tone a bit. However, the goals of some characters really made no sense, like at all at times, I was like there is definitely a 100% better way of doing things then what they're actually doing.

Sure, they kinda explain things such as the gimmick but when doing so, you're like "why do that in the first place??". It's like plastering a paper sheet over a massive plot hole and saying it's fixed instead of explaining why on earth did they do that.

At times, when they do the recap at the beginning of the episode, it would include parts that hadn't happened on screen as part of the recap, making you wonder if you missed an episode or something but no, it's just their way of kinda speed-running to the next checkpoint of the story to save time and give you a dose of confusion.

The ending is also shown as part of the credits, where you only hear the ending music like in all the previous episodes.

I'm annoyed with this show but I'm glad I was able to finish it even though it took me a week to do so. I've rated it a 7/10, just feel a little underwhelmed by it,

My favourite character in it is Saimon Kaname played by Iura Arata, his performance was awesome.
