I agree the first 10-12 episodes got me hooked then it got boring and picked back up for two episodes. Have somehow managed to get to episode 36 and feel compelled to finish it off as I only have a few episodes left.

Hey, just wondering if during those chapters you have read if Jiang Ni has started learning swordsmanship yet?

I was only hoping they would continue on and finish adapting the full novel into a drama series. I never thought about actors and actresses who may not want to be in it for the entire series, which is a shame because that would ruin the enjoyment of the series if they changed the main leads. I have not come across a series where the drama fared well after a change of main leads.

I am loving and enjoying this series but I am also concerned about the reception and what the audience in China think as this will sway if it will get a season 2 or not. I know Douban is not the sole site for the whole of China but the rating is 5.7 and there is a lot of criticism. It would be great if someone knows how it is doing in China.

I also think a lot of people would enjoy this series more if they stopped making comparisons with JoL.

I did read some past comments but I guess not further enough. I’m so glad to hear that especially since she’s the FL and didn’t want it to turn into saving the damsel in distress for every time they encounter danger. Thank you.

I am on episode 12. Is anyone able to spoil if in the novel or future episodes whether Jiang Ni will also learn and know martial arts as well?

I am on episode 25 so more than half way through. Does Liu Ran get any character development who is not just obessed with Baili or cry/teary eyed in each episode?

I am enjoying this drama so much and currently the only drama I keep up with. I love the comedic moments with Baili. I initially loved the cute romantic scenes here and there between the two couples. I may have found it bearable with Liu Ran because in the beginning she did not have so much screen time. She’s the character I dislike and that is the typical cliche innocent character that always accidentally ruins plans for the main leads. I hope she gets some character development and become less annoying.

I really do ship Gao Bing Zhu and Wu Si Yue but right now it’s turned into an antsy melodrama romance for them. I have found episodes with less focus on romance to be better and more enjoyable.

I agree! In episodes 1 I was a bit skeptical but if you compare episode 1 with the episodes after they both have improved so much and settled into their characters very well.

I am so glad and happy they are using their own voice rather than dubbing it because it means I can full enjoy the drama series.

Yes thankfully historical and xianxia dramas have improved and have a happy ending! From the trailer I’m not going to get my hopes too high. As much as I hate sad endings but I do prefer adaptations to stick to the original source plot line as much as possible.

Ugh :(. Thank you for telling me. I’ll still watch it thinking they will reunite when Bai Jue reincarnates.

I really like the cast so I tried really hard to enjoy the tv series. But I only enjoyed about 10 episodes starting from the beginning of part 2 of the story which is around episode 17/18. A lot of fast forwarding was required.

I think Xu Kai would be very suited to and play well as XJX character.

I’m liking this so far. ML and FL’s interactions are sooo cute. The only thing I’m not understanding is how so many characters are liking one another after knowing each other for barely half a day.

Exactly how I felt as well. Wu Yuan’s story could have been told in a few sentences. I do like the side characters but they get a bit too much screen time

I understand now what ZLY’s burger post on the expectation vs reality is talking about now. The production budget looks low with the awful fake scenery stills. Dubbing is awful but I’ll probably be able to get used to and endure it.

I’m waiting for the series to finish before watching it now and hopefully things will improve.
