Just read the last few episodes of the novel for fun, and now I feel robbed of so many kiss scenes and even the amazing proposal from the book! I really wish this drama had around 33-ish episodes so we could've gotten more scenes from the book dedicated to their happily ever after.
I think something that comes with Gu Man novels being adapted into dramas is having a VERY satisfying ending. As we now know, she liked to be very active during the production of the drama, making sure that key moments were the same as in the book. I think this is why we got 36 episodes and a fully fleshed-out story, so three cheers for Gu Man!! It also seems like a pattern because Love O2O and You Are My Glory both had a happy ending with marriage for the main CP. I'm not sure if she has any more novels, but I hope that if she does, they will also get turned into dramas and she will stay very active in the production, like for this one.

Have fun finishing SAL! It's so good, just the ending is a little disappointing due to all the scene cuts, but it's still a great show with all of the chemistry between the leads.
On episode 32 right now and oh my god, the scene when they're tending to the fire has me SCREAMING AND SQUEALING AND KICKING MY FEET!!! I never really rewatched Love O2O except for a few episodes near the end of their dating era because the story and production quality weren't that great. That's just a tactic to make their review affect the rating of the drama most of the time, as many people, such as me, wait until the drama is finished airing and we have watched all the episodes before rating it.
