you know after 4 episodes i'm starting to think that they're bascially going through what Qinglang and the rat went through when they were young promising actors, so the director is drawing a parallel between them and the main couple.

first of all you're not dense. the difference is that now they're shooting in other countries and the productions are also officially not chinese. so the gouvernment can't stop them from airing. thet did however, banned everyone involved from working in the chinese entertainment.

that was the problem, following the stellar success of the Untamed and Word of Honor, danmei adaptations cought the eye of the gouvernment. it looks like that if something can fly off radar gouvernment can choose to ignore it untill it becomes viral, then they have to mingle/censor/regulate

never say never of course. bans can be lifted and politics can change but i can't see it in the foreseable future

it's true the old shelved drama, maybe problematic, have been released maybe with heavy cuts, but bl (any lgbtq+ themed show) is banned by law, so it's impossible for them to air. the actors involved in these project are all stars now, this would make it even more difficult for them to release them in mainland, the actors themselves and their agencies, given the strict regulations, might not be willing to be associated with them. remember these drama were shot following the success of The Untamed, and got bannes following the viral success of Word of Honor-

maybe they don't sell it to international platoforms because of legal issues, they would have done it by now if it was possible.

i'd love to see them, really, but as for now i don't think there's hope. on the other end the adaption are heavily censored, so i also hope the reshoot them so we can finally get the original work

all cbls are shot and produced outsite of China to get around the ban, probably producers saw this goldmine and found a way to mine it. the gouvernment still gets in the way, all the actors involved in bls are banned (Xixi got faceswapped in a drama)

why what? the rights? there's no hope for the shelved dramas, they're never going to air. the only hope to see them is if somebody buys the rights of the novels and makes a new adaptation. all three of the shelved dramas are big budget historicals, so they need investors and lot of money. no one is willing to invest huge sums in a niche genre that won't bring them money

i cought up with all the episodes, despite some confusion for the sudden change of scenes and mood i'm enjoying it, i'm also enjoying the mains healthy love story. but black clouds are gathering over the peaceful tea mountains and troubles are coming in the shape of a resentful manipulative a*shole and the toxic entertainment fandom.
