Title Start-Up
But Do San is the only person benefitting from the lies to get Dal Mi feelings
I would have to disagree.
Yes, Dosan is benefitting from the lie because he got a chance to get closer to Dalmi. However, you have to ask yourself...if he is the only one benefitting from the lie, why are Jipyung and Grandmother the ones that are the most desperate to keep the lie going?

It can only mean that Jipyung and grandmother also benefit from the lie no matter how they try to rationalize their intentions.

The grandmother is benefitting because she doesn't have to face the consequence of having lied to Dalmi all those years ago. She is still hopping that the issue will be resolved on its own. That's why she hasn't come clean all these years. It's a lot easier for her to uphold the lie than to deal with its consequences.

Jipyung benefits because he gets to let go periodically of the overwhelming feeling of indebted he has had towards the grandmother for all these years. He also does not have to face the consequences of the lie. He fears Dalmi's confrontation because it would put him in a uncomfortable situation. But most important of all, if he can maintain the lie, he does not have to live with the fact that he might have disappointed two people he cares about: grandmother and Dalmi.

Title Start-Up
But Do San is the only person benefitting from the lies to get Dal Mi feelings
Can we just all agree that most of the characters in this drama are flawed and have not made the best choices so far. That's what makes the story interesting. They are not terrible people (they are actually all very likeable), but they are human.

Dosan, Jipyung and the grandmother are all lying to Dalmi and they are all benefitting from the lie in one way or the other. It's not fair to hold them to different standards when they are all guilty of the same thing.

Arguably the grandmother is the only one who has not shown that she has learned from her mistakes. She is still lying and keeping things from Dalmi and convincing others to do the same. I hope her growth as a character will be to learn to be honest and stop treating Dalmi as a young child in need of constant emotional protection.

As for Dalmi, I hope that her story will be one of letting go. She has been held back in many ways by the resentment she holds against her sister and her mother. She has also been held back by the romantic fantasy she created with the letters. It's unhealthy. She needs to learn to let go of both and grow as a person.

Yes, but at the beginning their jobs place them on opposite sides of an important political issue.

Title Stranger Season 2 Spoiler
I watched 2 episodes of this and got worried because Simok and Yeojin are in opposite sides. My favorite thing…
Their partnership isn't official in this season (so far) but there are still moments of them bonding/investigating together. Of course the fact that they are on opposite sides adds a bit of a distance in their relationship (being force to keep info from each other), but you still have moments that show how they truly value one another,

Title It's Okay to Not Be Okay Spoiler
The mom in the flashbacks is definitely not nurse Park. I'm not sure if they'll go the plastic surgery route or…
Thank you! Part of the confusion also lies with the fact that they made a big deal about the reveal of the mother's face - as if we should have seen her before.
Also, if they are indeed going for the plastic surgery (hope not, a bit too makjang for my taste), why hide the mother's face for so long? Was it just to contribute to the viewers' suspicion of the patient/actress who was obsessed with the mother's books?

I hope this drama has a satisfying and cohesive ending.

Title It's Okay to Not Be Okay Spoiler
Everyone is talking about the head nurse being Moonyoung's mother... but when they finally revealed the mother's face, I didn't recognize the head nurse at all - at least not until the final scene when she was driving and dressed up as Moonyoung's mother. I am confused. Are they really the same person? Should I go back and check when I am not so sleepy?

Title It's Okay to Not Be Okay Spoiler
Kangtae being the dad coming home to find his two children fighting over a toy was so funny lol

On a serious note, Kangtae needs to be taken care of for once. He's been looking after his older brother for years and he works as a caregiver. He needs a break. I am glad he is finally getting one. Too bad it is in the form of an unpaid suspension.

Don't know what the praise is about but its not comedic at all. I suppose this comedy should have started in the…
I use to think the exact same thing as you during the first few episodes. I was having headaches trying to understand the point behind whatever was happening on screen.

It turns out that the story and the characterization don't hit their stride until episode 9. Afterwards, I enjoyed the drama a lot more although there were still a few issues here and there. Most importantly, I could finally follow the FL's logic and the plot was no longer erratic and inconsequent. It flowed a lot better.

Honestly, I would give the first 8 episodes a rating of 7 (watchable but forgettable). The rest of the drama however I would give a 8.5 (Highly enjoyable with a few issues).

Why do you think kang tae went to help her in the end?For me I think it's because he realized he's her "dinosaur"…
The way I saw it was that after he read the story, he realized that he had been wrong in saying that Moonyoung would never understand how he felt. The ending of the story was "What do you think the boy wanted more? To not be hungry or to feel his mother's warmth." Kangtae had always craved the kind of love and care his mother only ever gave to Sangtae.
If Moonyoung wrote the story, she must understand or have had felt the same pain and feeling he had felt as a child. She wasn't as empty and cold as he had assumed and he felt compelled (maybe out of guilt) to go comfort her.

Well, I guess we will have to wait until the next episode to find out his true intentions in going to her.

Title It's Okay to Not Be Okay Spoiler
I am not so sure that story made Kang Tae realized that his mother was just protecting his older brother. He cried…
I think the story was about emotional neglect and its affect on mental health. In Zombie Boy, the mother made sure the boy had his essential needs (food + safety) but in the end, it is revealed that all the boy ever wanted was his mother's warmth (her love, her care, her attention...etc.).

Kang Tae told the assemblyman: "Do children have to be useful to their parents?" At first, you interpret it as a critic of parents neglecting their "useless" child and emotionally abusing them.
But then you realize that for Kang Tae, it was being the "useful" child that lead to his emotional neglect. His mother straight up told him that his only purpose in life was to take care of his brother, and that everything he did (e.g. self-defence class) should be first and foremost for the benefit of his brother. His mother was so focus on taking care of Sang Tae that she often completely neglected Kang Tae (e.g. the scene under the umbrella) even though he did everything she asked of him.

Therefore, I believe it is a critique of the "Filial piety" concept. (correct me if I'm wrong)

(very mild spoiler warning if you haven't seen ep7)

Could someone please explain to me about that mine explosion storyline in episode 7...the more I think about it, the less it makes sense.

As I understand, Xiao Quian is trying to live through the story she wrote in order to reach the end and go home. However, she barely ever question why things that she never wrote about are happening. The mine explosion was not part of her original story. No one in the mine was essential to the plot's original progression...why was she so hellbent on saving them? Especially since she believes everyone and everything around her is fiction. Now that Han Shuo doesn't want to kill her, she should be more focus on setting the original plot back in motion...but in this episode, she seemed more concerned about regaining the respect of the civilians... What was the point of the mine? Why does it seem like she is not aware of the essential plot points of her own story?
