I might of not been paying close attention in the beginning but why do certain characters wear headphones (I suppose…
I think the Ahjussi from the 14th floor - the one in the wheelchair that can build cool weapons out of nothing - explained it to Hyunsoo in episode 2 (if I remember correctly). He said that if you try to make a call near a monster, the phone would start beeping. Why? No logical explanation given.
I was so excited to watch this one, but sadly got disappointed so I dropped it after ep1, couldn't stand their…
I felt similarly while watching episode 1. The poor cgi was cringe and a bit over the top. However, I kept watching because the story intrigued me. By the end of episode 2, I was hooked. I am having a hard time stopping. I usually watch shows slowly (1-2 episodes a day) but I just watched 4 episodes in one sitting.
However, it's understandable if the cgi turns you off completely. If you can't look past it, you might have a harder time fully embracing the story and the characters despite them being extremely compelling.
I would suggest giving episode 2 a try. If the story and acting does not redeem the poor cgi in your eyes, than drop it for good.
don't forget to say the writer made it seem like HJP had to beg NDS to invest in the business of SDM and admit…
I was not really a fan of NJH and yet I really liked Dosan. He was sweet and dorky. He wasn't perfect but his flaws made him interesting. I did not agree with every choice the writer made about his character but overall he was adorable and had a good enough character growth.
I also really liked that this drama had both leads starting out as underdogs. Too often the female lead is poor and struggling in life while the male lead is highly successful, talented and rich . Thus, Dosan and Dalmi's relationship felt more real to me since they were both equals in that sense. Both characters also had strengths and weaknesses that complemented each other well.
Go Joon Pyo was my first SLS in Kdramas but here people are not mad because JP didn't end up with DM, cause most…
Did Jipyung really end up with nothing but money? What else could he have had more aside from a love interest? Jipyung was reunited with his found-family composed of grandma and now Dalmi and her mother. He has people taking care of him (sending him food, inviting him over for the holidays...etc.) Also, he has a great job that he loves and a good relationship with his boss and colleagues. Plus, he is successful and well respected in the industry. He isn't the lonely orphan boy who got kicked out of the orphanage anymore. He has a lot to be grateful now.
I'll unfortunately remember this drama as having one of the most toxic fandom...I really enjoyed watching it but…
By toxic I meant a negative and hostile environment that wasn't a very pleasant place to be. I am really happy that people were passionate about a character. However, the amount of love the character of Jipyung received does not even come close to the amount of hate everything else about this drama received.
This drama will forever be remembered for the beautiful relationship HJP-Grandma shared. It will be remembered…
I'll unfortunately remember this drama as having one of the most toxic fandom...I really enjoyed watching it but the fandom almost made me drop it. I always loved participating in drama discussion. For the first time, I felt like I wasn't welcomed and that I had to stay away from mydramalist, tumblr, youtube, dramabeans.... It spoiled the experience of watching this drama live.
I think when HJP look at his hands one final time. He realizes that SDM is a shallow person. And that physical…
I would have to disagree. I didn't interpret the story as having established a lifetime of solid memories between Jipyung and Dalmi....Dalmi unknowingly corresponded with him for a year when she was kid. Then she met him again as a business mentor. She maintained a completely professional relationship with him. He only recently became a true family friend....that's the extent of their history. Let's not insult Dalmi's character by calling her shallow for choosing Dosan with whom she created many great memories that clearly means a lot to her (for exemple: we finally know why she likes his hands so much --> they remind her of an important memory she has of him)
Probably Nam Do San will think that Dal Mi likes Ji Pyung and that they had something during those years... so…
Proposing as in marriage? Are Dalmi and Jipyung dating now? If not, why would he propose? I really hope this is not an actual plot point. It is pretty dumb to propose to someone with whom you are not in a relationship...
I would have to disagree. The show has given us the back story of NDS in several episodes, explaining why he is…
Very well said thank you! You echoed my thoughts exactly. People that say that we have yet to learn anything about Dosan baffle me.
Also, I believe Dosan and his friends started to dislike Jipyung early on because he wasn't exactly nice to them. Yes they needed a reality check because the way Samsan Tech was going, they were on their way to failure. However, Jipyung was really harsh to them. Instead of giving them advice when they first met, he told them to give up because they were hopeless. Jipyung has always looked down on Dosan. He assumed everyone else (including Dalmi) would look down on him too. That's one of the reason he convinced Dosan to lie about his success and wealth to Dalmi at the beginning. If I was Dosan, I wouldn't enjoy being put down all the time. Although I would recognize that there are some truth in Jipyung's harsh words, I would still dislike being around him (jealousy about love interest or not). No one would want someone who constantly wishes for their failure around them and neither does the Samsan boys.
Therefore, I always felt it was evident why Dosan disliked Jipyung.
Do san never lie? He even lie about how he find DalMi the scruchies dude LOL
Why is Dosan getting so much criticism for lying about where he found the scrunchie? Yes, lying is bad but what he did was far less spiteful and mean than what Jipyung tried to do when he gave the scrunchie to Dosan! I’m confused, why is everyone turning a blind eye to that? Is it bias?
Unpopular opinion: I’m starting to dislike Jipyung. I miss the Jipyung from the earlier episodes when he was the prickly fairy godmother to the Samsan boys. I don’t like nosy and jealous Jipyung.
If I had written this drama, I would have never added a love triangle. Jipyung storyline would have been one of growth where he sheds his cold and haughty personality and slowly becomes best friends with Dosan, and co. A true hyung, part of the family.
its the fact that the scene of HJP mixing those pine nut noodles is soooo much more interesting than any scene…
I know. Kdramas are notorious for romanticizing stalking ugh! I was thinking the same thing when Jipyung followed Dalmi in episode 1 and was just watching her at the bus stop...a bit too creepy for my taste. I haven't seen episode 10 yet, but I am disappointed to hear that Dosan also follows Dalmi like that.
BTW since when SDM openly acts that she know about Grandma eyes condition?? I think in the previous episode, she…
I thought she made it pretty clear in the scene where she goes and cries with grandma. Maybe I am remembering it wrong but she says something along the lines "I know you wanted me to be happy but just for today, I will cry with you". I thought it was her way of saying that she knew about the eye condition and, since she was reusing part of what grandma had said to Dosan, she was also telling her grandma how she had found out.
Maybe I misinterpreted the above scene as well as the scene between Dosan and the grandma just before he went and revealed the medical condition to Dalmi. I honestly thought the grandma had "low key" given him the green light to tell Dalmi about her condition. Maybe I dreamed it. Please correct me if I am wrong.
This is CATFISHING. Like some type of reverse catfishing. Not the exact definition of the word, but I would still…
I wouldn't call what Dosan did catfishing (it's more letting someone believe a piece of information that is untrue which is bad but not exactly catfishing). Catfishing is however exactly what Jipyung and Halmoni did to Dalmi though. Dalmi thought she was writing to a boy her age (roughly 10-12) named Dosan. She had no idea she was actually writing to a 18 years old high schooler and her 50+ years old grandmother.... Yes Halmoni and Jipyung's intentions were good, but it does not make what they did 100% right.
I see a lot of comments accusing Dosan of impersonating Jipyung. I am confused about this interpretation. Why only accuse Dosan of it when this whole mess would have never happened if Halmoni and Jipyung had never impersonated him in the first place (as in Dosan)? Also, the only person he has been impersonating is the Dosan of the letters (someone who does not exist; a person created by Halmoni, Jipyung and Dalmi's own fantasy).
Moreover, Dosan's guilt and reason for wanting to tell Dalmi reveals a lot about his true character. Dosan wants to tell Dalmi because he knows that lying to her was a terrible mistake (a wrong turn) and he feels that he doesn't deserve her. He is torn between wanting to keep wandering in the wrong direction (happy in this created fantasy) and owing up to his wrong doings and being honest (disappointing yet again someone he cares about). On the other hand, Jipyung didn't have a problem with lying to Dalmi until he saw how close her and Dosan have become. He wants to tell Dalmi because he wants her for himself...
On a side note, I have a hard time believing that Jipyung has loved Dalmi all this time...I would have believed if he had started to feel attracted to her recently, but from the network party??? I am really disappointed in the writer's choice concerning his character. I really loved Jipyung at the beginning but I am so irritated by his jealousy, greediness and immaturity. To me, his character now feels very inconsistent, even nonsensical.
Why couldn't they keep the "reluctant bromance" between Dosan and Jipyung. It was my favourite part of the first episodes. Why did they have to end up fighting over a girl like she's some baseball card they can trade? That conversation at Dalmi's place really irked me in episode 9. Jipyung asking Dosan to give him "that one thing" (as in Dalmi) in exchange for his appartement and other belongings. WTF?! I was also really disappointed in Dosan for going along with the conversation instead of shutting Jipyung up by telling him that "this one thing" wasn't his to give.
All my issues with this drama stems from the love triangle. I love everything else about it and I am enjoying 90% of the drama. But whenever the love triangle is brought at the forefront , my enjoyment plummets.
I really hope the writer will justify and rectify these plot/character choices.

I see some opinions are unwelcome here.
P.S. Look up generalization.
