I never thought I would be the one to defend this drama, but since so many people are rather negative about it,…
I agree that it's a bit strange to me that people find it difficult to differentiate between the two worlds but I think that may in part be because I've had a lot of exposure to fantasy over they years so I know how these things work at this point. I have to say someone made a lovely suggestion a while ago about using different camera filters to represent the different worlds and I think that would have been a beautiful visual touch and could have helped some of the people who are a bit more confused.
I just feel sad. Are you people crazy? I am proud to officially anounce: I like this drama! And with every next…
I don't think anyone is saying they want super cheesy lines (in fact I've seen that as a criticism against /this/ drama), dumb characters, or indeed a romance without any build up (again, lots of criticism about the romance subplot state the exact opposite). I'm glad you're enjoying the drama, that's great and I hope each episode continues to surprise and delight you, but please don't dismiss other people's criticisms of the drama as essentially being stupid and lacking in taste.
I do wonder if Lee Gon is aware of the other famous ruler who made his horse an official 'cause, well, he's not really someone you'd want to remind people of hahaha
1) The 2 parallel universes merge. Would 100% not recommend this one, it would break the world. Let's not do that.2)…
Personally I think they'll go with 4 rather than 5 for a number of reasons:
1)It's implied Lee Gon doesn't really want to be King. Sure, he plays his role and fulfils his duties to the minimum requirement BUT he also keeps running away and makes it clear he'd rather be doing other things. I'm sure he'll grow more as a king over the course of the drama but I feel this works to set up him being able to live a life outside the Palace.
2) Rather than him leaving his world to be with Tae Eul, I think this ending would be spun as Lee Gon having to sacrifice himself for his people by faking his death. I think this would have the strongest emotional impact (especially if we're lead to believe he's actually dead for a while) without having to go for an outright sad ending.
3) Given that the central conflict of this drama is set to be the line of Royal succession, I can see this drama ending with the abolition of the mon archy in Lee Gon's world and the establishment of a true democracy. SK hasn't had a good history with leaders with absolute power so it would make sense that this history would be reflected in the drama.
I hope that makes sense? I could be totally wrong, but from what I've seen so far this makes the most narrative sense.
That being said, I wish they went with 5 because it is my favourite, haha.

Haha, the ending for Mr Sunshine gives me hope, the ending for Goblin fills me with dread.... I guess we're just going to have to see which mood she was in when she wrote this one.
I got bored and wrote down all the ways this could end vis-a-vis the parallel universe side of things. I've put…

2) The portal remains open permanently and people are able to pass through it whenever. Again, wouldn't recommend this one, the implications it would have regarding 2 worlds meeting would making things very messy and difficult to write well.
3) The portal opens once every year/every few years (so Tae Eul and Lee Gon can still meet) but is mostly closed. This one wouldn't be too bad but would run the risk of being accused of copying CLOY so should probably be avoided.
4) The portal closes with Tae Eul and Lee Gon on one side of it. I think this is the most likely, tbh, probably with Lee Gon staying on 'our' side of the portal. We already know Lee Gon has a mother over here so that could give the move some emotional clout (aside from just staying with Tae Eul). All that would need to happen is a situation where he needs to fake his death in his old world and voilà, he can make the jump no problem.
5) The portal closes and they're both on different sides. Oh how I wish we got this ending, I love me some bittersweet endings and this is the most bittersweet of all. They could go all His Dark Materials and set a time and place to go to each month, just so they're together even if they're separated by a whole reality....
I got bored and wrote down all the ways this could end vis-a-vis the parallel universe side of things. I've put it as a spoiler cause I'm sure some people don't want to see even my speculations :P
I do understand why Tae Eul doesn't believe Lee Gon until he literally shows her. If a man came to me saying he was from another dimension I too would think he'd lost the plot, no matter how much proof he presented me with. I think it would take a /lot/ to actually convince anyone of the existence of a parallel world, it goes against the foundations of our perceived reality after all.
Definitely agree about the PM scenes. I could see I was supposed to be tense but I just wasn't getting it.
As for the editing, I think it sometimes sacrifices what's better for the story for what's better visually which is a shame because, at the end of the day, the visuals are a bonus, not the reason I'm watching the drama.
When i saw first episode i noticed young prince get hurt towards his left side of neck but they badge him on his…
Yeah I'm really not sure what happened with the neck wound. It seems like a pretty big continuity error and I'm surprised no one on the team noticed it. Still, they seem to have decided to stick with the wound being on the right hand side so I guess we're just going to have to pretend all the flashback scenes are mirrored for some reason :P
On the one hand, I liked this episode more than the last 3, mainly because the plot actually got going and it's still an interesting enough concept to make me want to see how they pull it off.
On the other hand, I realised the other thing I liked about this episode is that the two leads weren't together for most of it (and became more interesting characters as a result) and that their scenes together were the only ones that really lost my interest.
It seems like a bit too much to hope that they spend most of this drama apart but I'm not sure how else I'm going to balance wanting to put my head through a wall whilst they stare at each other and wondering what's going on with Do Hwan's two characters and the PM's plot.

Please writer-nim, prove me wrong, go with the ending I don't think you'll do. I'm literally begging you.
