The argument that Tine is still uncomfortable with touching Sarawat confuses me because why would he agree to live with him and and share a bed if he wasn't comfortable around him???? If he agreed to do those things and he's still not okay with Sarawat touching him then he must realllly enjoy suffering because he is getting /no/ sleep.
Oh definitely! There's only 1 person in my life Im fully okay touching me and initiating touch in return and the entire reason for that is that I feel close to them and want to show them affection, even if it makes me a little uncomfortable sometimes.
I've not seen TharnType but I know what you mean. WRU had a few scenes like that as well and they honestly spoke more about the leads relationship with each other than the sex scenes.
You know, I hadn't even made the connection with 'I'll have you beheaded' and Alice in Wonderland! I think he said it so often those first few episodes I was just like 'weird, but I guess it's just something he says because why not?'

It's definitely scenes like that which make me pause. It feels like it would be normal in those situations to seek physical contact, either to just show affection or even to offer comfort. Another scene where it really struck me was when they were playing the drinking game at the start, they're celebrating moving in together yet they're sitting on opposite sides of the bed. You'd think they'd at least snuggle up to each other or show some form of physical affection.....
I know, what happened to the bracelet? They made such a fuss about it and then seemed to just drop the subject.…
I thought the exact same thing. (Although if he managed that he must be the best pickpocket in the whole universe because at no point during that scene was his hand anywhere near Tine's wrist)
I have to say, I do love Sarawat and Tine's relationship to bits but their lack of physical intimacy (and I'm talking about simple hugs and touches, not kisses or sex) a little strange. I feel it sometimes makes their relationship come off more as a bromance than a romance because they so rarely touch each other or share each others' space. And this is coming from someone who has a genuine aversion to other people touching them so I get how intimate (is that the right word? I don't think it is but idk what else to put) the simple act of holding hands or cuddling can feel.
If you characterise criticism as hate then the issue is on your side, not theirs. Likewise, if you characterise praise as stupidity, the issue is on your side, not theirs.
People are allowed to like what they like and dislike what they dislike. Making people feel ashamed for expressing either of those things is never acceptable and I honestly can't believe I'm having to say this in the comments section of a Kdrama.
I must be simple-minded because I actually enjoy this a lot. It may not become the greatest drama of all-time,…
Haha, nothing simple-minded about enjoying a drama other people have criticisms of. Just a matter of personal taste and expectation! I'm glad you're enjoying it!
I find lee min ho's acting a bit stiff in other dramas.. how is he in this one? and how's the acting of the drama…
I think his acting is pretty similar to his performances in other dramas, from what I've seen at least. And the acting overall is good, the only dodgy acting so far has been from the child actors which is (sort of) to be expected given how young they are.
So what the hell is wrong with MDL?? Other places aren't this hateful, it's JUST MDL lol....even places with some…
I'm not quite sure why anyone would be jealous of the success any drama receives.... That seems like a deeply unhealthy way to enjoy media and especially fiction.
Furthermore, this is a site specifically for the discussion of East Asian dramas and, as far as I am aware, it's the most popular place that offers that service. It has an extremely specialised audience with a wide variety of tastes so I think it only natural that there would more disparity amongst the view points on here than elsewhere, where the audience for things like kdramas tend to be smaller. I would never want MyDramalist to become an echo chamber and I, for one, am glad that I can here be assured that I will find a mix of opinions, both good and bad.
And finally, people are allowed to dislike and like whatever they want and express their feelings accordingly. Most of the criticisms on here have been far from hate-filled rants and many have merely pointed out what they believe to be flaws in the drama. That's not and never will be hate.
I think what would make the romance better is if they never had that “fated to be” connection. No Id picture…
Omg yes, I said the same thing! Fated connections are not a good look for a lot of romances because we're expected to buy into this supposedly deep and emotional connection that we've not really seen develop.
We need to see a connection develop for it to be believable, being told about it doesn't have the same effect.
I'm not a child psychologist but my job means I have training on the subject and that I come into contact with (and work with) children who are going through or who have been through a range of different traumatic situations pretty regularly.
I enjoyed this drama! It wasn't a masterpiece and it accidentally tied itself up in knots sometimes but, you know what? It was fun! And sometimes that's exactly what you want.
I also really liked the two leads. Of all the things in the drama, I'm saddest to say goodbye to them.
Whoever wrote Joon Young's character clearly knows their child psychology. Like wow, his character is so difficult for me to watch because he feels so darn realistic and it hurts me to see any child (real or fictional) go through this kind of stuff.
Can someone just real talk with the son? Oh my god. Imagine how stupid he would feel when he is grown up and someone…
Honestly I'm actually really impressed with how he's written. I come into contact with a lot of kid going through similar issues and many of them (not all, but a pretty big sample size) display the same habits and problems as he does. Whoever wrote him really brushed up on their child psychology and that makes his character even more difficult for me to watch because it feels so real.
I know that there might be an ulterior motive behind Yoon Gi's suggestion but I honestly believe that it would be the best choice for Sun Woo and Joon Young. They need time and space to heal their relationship and with everything going on neither of them have had that chance.
I don't think anyone is saying they want super cheesy lines (in fact I've seen that as a criticism against /this/…
True, certain criticism are a bit baffling to me (as you said, we really shouldn't be able to see all the writers card for the plot this early in the drama) and some are certainly in bad faith (the ones calling the actors ugly are unnecessary) but others are pretty well thought out and reasoned so lumping all criticism together as premature and simple minded doesn't really do much.
As for liking stuff that other people dislike and disliking stuff that people like, well, personal taste is a beautiful thing and ultimately is all that matters.

Because people tend use the first 2-6 episodes to gauge whether or not they continue. Also, because of its serial nature, each episode of a drama, whilst certainly an important part of a whole, needs to work by its own merits as well and can also be considered as an individual piece. Yes, certain criticism can and probably will be proven wrong as the drama progresses so if you want a comprehensive review, wait until it's done, but discussing and critiquing a drama as it progresses is also fine and perfectly normal, given the nature of how we consume media now a days.

I shall await the final kiss with baited breath!
