I am definitely rooting for the ML and the FL in this series, because together they make a truly powerful couple, full of understanding and maturity.

The closure talk between him and the FL was beautifully written. For the first time, I understood why she still holds a special place for him in her heart. It's not romantic love. It's recognition. Two people that similar, carrying that much pain? They'd burn each other down. She told him he is special to her... but they can only be friends.
My heart really goes out to Ye Xian. Juggling heartache and the strong political powers at play that are trying to take down his family and have all his lineage executed. When push comes to shove, he still chooses to do the right thing to save his family.
And now we're looking at an incurable illness, limited time left, and Ren Mi herself hinting that not everyone will make it out alive. I don't think Ye Xian survives this drama. In fact, I believe she alluded to that—her wish was that all the characters that have to leave... she wishes they would still come back.
You can love a flawed character without excusing their worst moments. You can feel for Ye Xian while still being glad the FL chose the ML. You can root for the main couple and grieve for the second lead. Both things can be true.
So please, no hate. I'm just here with my heart in pieces, rooting for everyone to find some version of peace. That wedding episode made me cry. For the beauty. And for the tragedy. All in one episode.
