As you said rating is about how much you've enjoyed the drama it's not a compulsory thing to do or to stress about.
That's definitely true. I think after a couple of more dramas I won't be really caring about these things too but as of right now, some of us pumpkins just get a bit anal in rating a drama the perfect way. ^^
Love your article! It’s so spot on haha ... You already know my rating habits. I tend to rate too high, but…
Thankyou!! Same. I think the easiest rating I can give out is an 8.5. For me the tens and 9s are also really debatable. xD
Acting is a must honestly. It's one thing I just don't compromise on. Secondly as you can guess, plot and writing matters to me the most. If the writing is tight, consistent and without plot-holes then ofcourse I'm a happy camper. ^~^
The rest of the things I can more or less, compromise a bit on.
Though there are some things I require in particular genres. For example: A mystery has to actually be intelligent and unpredictable. A romance needs to be fleshed out in a love story. You know just those basic things :D
The school grade system where I live in is 0-10 with the minimun passable grade being 7. So it affects a lot on…
That's so interesting! I love that you rate your dramas according to the school plan. A friend of mine had made a very extensive rating chart that she used to refer to. I guess we all have our ways.
Honestly, I feel you. Giving out a 10 is extrememly rare for me too. I do give out 5's and 4's tho when I didn't like some dramas but I thought some aspects were good enough to not be a 2 haha.
The way you are grading a show itself is wrong. You're letting you heart lay ping pong and then randomly deciding…
Hey there :')
You know what they say: when you assume you make an ass of you and me.
Infact I always rate my shows based on a system of evaluation. There are a number of factors that go into it: Acting, Directing, Plot, OST, story flow, pacing and e.t.c but the fact that 'you' think that I'm rating the wrong way even when they are clearly subjective and personal is downright hilarious :'D
However, you don't always watch dramas as a critic and sometimes things that deeply touch you or annoy you particularly can effect your rating.
All the incidents that I've mentioned are things people can relate to in some way. We talk about it normally on MDL and I don't see why there shouldn't be an article about it just because it doesn't apply to you personally.
I wasn't going for analytics here but thanks for your idea. Maybe I'll do it for my next one.
Also, this 'random wall of text' seems far necessary than your unreasonably butthurt comment here.
When you post editorials like this, you're putting yourself out there and it takes courage. I've seen a lot of salty beckys like you so it doesn't matter to me anymore lmfao but I hope you think twice before leaving negativity on other people's work. It doesn't make you look cool. :')
If you think an article sucks ass, you're free to stop reading anytime. We don't get paid to write them love and you don't get paid to read them.
I also encourage you to try your hand at writing articles yourself. So we can all learn better and improve ourselves by your example!
Despite this ...hum... bashing review ^^, I can still totally understand why people would gladly love this show…
Haha, well to be fair maybe I'm not totally honest either considering this was my first ever Dorama and you know how newbie enthusiasm can sometimes make you biased. On a sidenote, I enjoyed FLCL so much for the same explicit reason.
Thankyou that's so great to hear. I really like your reviews too, especially the straightforward bitesized one's!
Haha, aww a bad review for one of my favorite shows. ;_: But it's always so interesting to read conflicting thoughts! I think I definitely get where you're coming from.
Yamaneko is a slapstick comedy and at first glance it definitely seems over the top, extra and try hard which is why it explains it being an acquired taste. This was my first Dorama ever and I was actually pleasantly surprised. I think the reason I liked it so much was because I was like what the fuck is going on that's so cringey but at the same time it felt free-ing in a sense because it was like the cast was having so much fun with it and the writers did whatever they wanted without aiming to please. And ultimately I couldn't help but have a blast both laughing at the edgy bits and getting touched by the deeper undertones and thoughtful dialogues. I think this is definitely a show you need to be in the mood for.
However, objectively I still agree with a lot of what you said. Good review!
Excellent analysis. I've been waiting for this article ever since you posted on the feeds. I've been meaning to watch the drama but was hesitating because like you, sports dramas are really not my thing. But I'm glad to know there's an enjoyable balance here.
Anyway, this is quite possibly one of the best reviews I've read on MDL. Excellent job sis. I think it's finally time to pick this show back up. I've been waiting to find the perfect moment so I can watch it without distractions.
Honestly, it's a drama dear to me too. The first episodes really did blow me away. There was just some stuff I…
Ha Ji Min? x"DDDDD or Ha Ji Won??
but honestly, I'd still recommend Empress Ki over SFD. EK is so full of angst and thrill that it never gets boring whereas SFD drags a bit. Plus women empowerment in EK is no joke whereas SFD mostly lacks that too.

Empress Ki did. But at the time, I was a complete newbie so I'm waiting too for a show to blow away the current nitpicker me! :D
