I don't know why I'm reading this just now.
It's so weird... but I like it.
Tho I gotta say the guy from Save Me wasn't in the Mafia or a gang. The dude just came outta prison after being wrongly accused and he hella broke- that's why his wardrobe is a necessity not fashion. XDD
Great job with the article tho! We need new ideas like these to flood MDL.
I agree about the Teacher/Student relationships. They don't work for me most of the times either. Age gap is also something I'm not too fond of (mostly because the relationship is not properly executed whenever writers use this trope) which must be one of the reasons why Goblin didn't appeal to me as much as it did others.
Good review though!
Kill Me Heal Me really did take a lot of liberties with describing the illness aspect, so much so, that at times not only does it seem unrealistic but also borders on being comical.
While the fact that it was one of my first dramas might have played a role in me rating it so high. Truthfully the reason why it's raved about is not because people don't notice the lack of logical inaccuracies but rather, it is because of the emotional depth that comes with the show. The actors have done an amazing job and as the show progresses, all the things that seem so convulated and messed up in the beginning, straighten out and start to make sense. Every character is given closure and the beautiful soundtrack helps intensify feelings.
But I have to agree with you. This show banks on the watcher's heart rather than the mind. I see that you dropped it on episode 5 and I can relate to when an over-hyped show ends up being a cup of tea you'd rather not try.
Great review!
That Winter The Wind Blows because it frankly, just wasn't for me. Not too much of a fan of hinted incest and dead romance ya know.
Cheese in Trap because its appeal just lost itself to me as the drama progressed.
Boys over flowers because the plot was an utter mess.
Heartstrings well because it was pretty shitty honestly. Lol and because I didn't see the plot move forward.
The Princess Man because honestly it was too friggin boring for me. I heard it gets good but by the time any entertaining scene would come, I'd figured I would be dead by boredom numerous times so I dropped it like a hot pocket.
Relatable piece of writing. Keep it up!
Honestly, I haven't found the kind of show you're looking for yet. I've been planning to see Battle of Changsha for ages but I have the same reservations that you seem to harbor.
Worry not though sistra, as soon as I find something worth your while, I'll send it your way. ^~^
