"Gyora" used to win competitions in other versions, had skills but I guess her constantly hurting the ML or being…
Yeah, I agree with you. Gorya is my favorite character in this version but I also agree that there is nothing "strong" or "girl boss" or appropriate for girl to hurt a guy like that. I think that that is a privilege that women tend to get away with and is not okay. Hopefully, we can see less of this double standards in future works as equality means that both genders should treat and respect each other equally. It is been a while since I saw meteor garden but i believe that there were traits in FL that showed a strong woman and those you mentioned are good examples of that. I also think that it is fairly sexist and limited scope of what encapsulates a strong woman by only defining in the realm of being "physical". There should be more appreciation for femininity as an expression of a strong female character but also consists of nuances in writing of her along with being properly fleshed out so they do not come off as one-dimensional. Gorya is strong when she was standing up to those that were hurting her and balancing school with supporting her family and those examples give off "girlboss". But not when she is beating up Thyme for no reason.
People should really put some respect on Park Min Young´s name, just saying... She is after all a veteran in the industry with excellent acting skills. And for people who are saying she has only done office dramas need to look at her earlier work. And those office dramas are different from each other, one where she was a secretary, second one where she was a curator and now this one. Her Private life which was the drama she did three years ago showcased her bright personality where interestingly enough she played a diehard fangirl who also was a noona fan while maintaining her professional life. Highly recommend because it was not just work showing but she had her own life too and also you´ll see some really good romance between both leads. It was also the first time if I remember from an interview I watched where she played a fun, non-serious character because she didn´t do that before. She then did When the weather is fine which is not for everyone as it is a lot more slow burn and melo but also showcased a different side to her acting.
I personally have enjoyed the drama so far but im not feeling Song Kangs acting as sometimes he comes off as a bit bland but his character comes of as such too. However, I do feel that with most of the characters as well as mentioned below these people have no interesting life outside their workplace. The found family is there but I wish we could see more of it in a more cheerful way to balance the intensity of the forecasting but overall meloness of the show.
I had such a fun time watching the first episode and my girl Sejeong is a treat to watch. She just embodies the character so well and also those outfits on her looked so good. I have yet to come around to Hyo Seops character although I know he is a great actor himself and it has only been an episode so far. I feel that he is a bit stiff but still doing a great job with being the male lead here. But I also find it perpetually amusing dare I say to see him taking on a such role which keeps me curious for what he has to show as a classic kdrama male archetype . However, I find that Kang tae mu is refreshing from previous "tsunderes" because he seems modern and open-minded and I feel that the writers are taking on a different approach to his disposition thus allows for an enjoyable watch. These "ridiculous and comical" flared dramas are a must once in awhile and with modern takes we can hopefully expect more different approaches to previous but also quintessential scope of characters.
Lastly but most importantly in these times of various of events occurring globally across the world these kinds of shows puts you on a nice break and simply hugs your mental health. Furthermore, in a pool of plots that gravitates towards melo, murder and sadness having a business proposal helps to balance those genres out substantially!
Really wish more people took the time to understand Gorya like the way they do for Thyme. She is going through so much in terms of her family and now all of this situation with Thyme and his wealthy background and all of these powerful people such as his mom. It is a lot for a young teenage girl who is probably really scared and exhausted and carrying too much on her plate. Gorya from the first episode has become my favorite and I truly love her as a character. She is so fierce, strong, beautiful but also a young woman with her own insecurities and uncertainties. Instead of quickly invalidating her feelings try to put yourselves in her shoes because I think for most of us we would probably relate to her than Thyme had we been in her position.
Very well written and so on point! Wish more people were understanding of Gorya and her struggles.
Right, omg people write lengths of posts understanding Thyme but is not willing to take the time to do the same for Gorya. Gorya is my favorite in this show and she holds such a special place in my heart so wish for more love and compassion for her character.
You know what’s sad? it’s Thyme trying to fit and understand her world because he love her that much. Even…
But I think that stepping into Thymes world is a lot more exhausting because she is always going to be deemed as inferior to all the rich people there. It will make it more clear the complete difference between her being from a poor background and them. And it does not help that Gorya is hated by Thymes mom who does not want her to have any relation to Thyme. Those that were brought up in the elite such as Thyme and rest of the F4, his sister, Lita for instance have had their lives set and there is no freedom. And there are other aspects that makes that world extremely overwhelming so it would be a lot more exhausting for someone like Gorya who has never been exposed to such environment before. That comfort, peace, normalcy are not things Thyme has ever experienced before but taking in that is doing him good compared to Gorya walking into what is the complete opposite.
I finished this show couple days ago and wow it was such a thrilling experience devouring each episode. Although the plot is not something remarkable or anything fascinating it is all the other external factors and how each episode was set up that kept my eyes attentive. Having a female-dominated series and also where the perpetrator is a female (and young) as well was definitely a factor that kept me hooked along with the phenomenal performances from each of these actresses (and everyone in general). This is indeed a drama soaked in dark comedy paired with this similar-like feeling Koo Kyung Yi had where there is this excitement of cracking cases and unfolding each mystery that comes along with these events. It is the usage of a somewhat ordinary plot but executed in a way that it draws attention from the viewers and bring them along on this curiosity sparked journey. I myself experienced this thoroughly and also lastly greatly reinforced through the outstanding OSTs. All the songs used for Inspector Koo were clearly carefully picked and curated and unquestionably shaped the variety of emotions I sat with watching the series. It shows the power of well-made soundtracks that seamlessly accommodates the contexts surrounding the scenes respectively. Never was I negatively affected by the reoccurring exposure of the OSTs as they were in fact both timely and contextually placed. I personally rated this a ten as it was for all of the reasons above that I nevertheless felt deeply satisfied and content with my overall watching experience!
How's Run on? Many said it's slow and not that good. wanted to watch it too :)
I think is to each their own and its been awhile since I´ve seen it but it is definitely on the slower side. However, I felt that the pacing was great. Its a character driven series where you have to focus a lot on the dialoges but very interesting as well. I think Run on is a good drama as it does not have your stereotypical trope-based plotlines.
Quite refreshing to see a not so trope-like romantic Kdrama and definitely want to see more of that. It does have some elements of cliche such as second ML liking the female lead and the same with second female lead with the male lead. However, is not as annoying as in some other dramas. I really like NJ and she is so mature, reflective and a smart woman who is not your typical second FL in your usual cliche-filled romantic kdrama (Not that this one is like that). I think being an idol, the experiences she has gone through working in the industry and her thought processes makes her far more mature than those two women that were talking trash about her in the restaurant. The chemistry between Woo Shik and Dami is so good and they play of each other extremely well. All the other characters are great too and the overall ambiance of watching our beloved summer has been enjoyable so far. Haven´t felt this way about a romantic Kdrama since Run On so this will definitely be up there along with that series and potentially the one and only as well. All of these shows have great fleshed out characters and great storylines.
The chemistry between two MLs are so interesting but I wanna see more scenes of Ko Seung Tak and Crystal/Oh Soo…
Me too, I was a bit bored in this episode because I wanted to see the various of characters in this series. Definitely want to see more of Crystal as I have been loving Naeuns acting so far. Hopefully, we get to see more interaction between Ko Seung Tak and Oh Soo Jung! But I think from now the plot would be more exciting to watch as Ko Seung Tak is aware of Youngmins excistence.
This plot sounds interesting and very exciting for the return of Kim Woo Bin in the drama scene and thrilled to see Esom as the FL along with Song Seung Heon as well. The thought of a potential future in which pollution has become so severe that people have to stay inside and only get by with having everything delivered is a fascinating take on the discussion surrounding the state of the climate in current times. Pollution is a big issue and there are countries that fall into the extreme side of it so to see it moving to the extent that the series is taking on is an approach that sparks my curiosity. Can`t wait!
Watching this mainly for Park Min Young as I have been waiting for a drama from her since when the weather is fine. I do wish she was paired with another actor as I am a bit skeptical of the male lead. PMY is known for her chemistry with her partners but I hope she is not the only one carrying the romance scenes herself here. I am not fond of actors getting by their acting with charming faces because it feels as if they are not putting effort into conveying whatever character they are acting as. I like to believe Song Kang is able to improve his facial expressions and acting but that means he has to show that he is able to deliver in this series in a pool of great casting lineup.
Acting was perfect. The idea was great. Beautiful even. Aside from the over dramatic bits, the story was mostly…
haha, loved that point because it is so true and especially when the plot was so lackluster that the philosophical ending was almost comical and strange.
Gorya is strong when she was standing up to those that were hurting her and balancing school with supporting her family and those examples give off "girlboss". But not when she is beating up Thyme for no reason.
