Did anyone felt heartbroken seeing Jeong Bun and Ho Suk ignoring Jong Hui when she came to their house making her feel guilty for Yeong Rye being stabbed. That was harsh honestly but it really showed the strong sense of one-sided support the girls had for Yeong Rye attributed by the painful 7-year time skip. But ofc Jong Hui showed up at the wedding anyway...

Would have enjoyed this drama more if Jong Hui fans weren’t constantly ruining it for everyone else.
Felt the same the other way around but I blame it on the writer for reducing the drama into "who do you stan the most?" drama lmao

😐 At least if they show a mutual longing from both girls, I will understand writer's motive to paint yeongrye…
That´s such a great point. What happened to the bravery and strength of Yeong Rye who even orchestrated a labor rights protest? She became such a weak character post time-skip. Not that having a strong family and friend support system who´s always got your back is a bad thing but it really blunted the resilience she was initially known for. I think back then she was so poor and had to support her family and worked such a stressful job as a bus attendant that there was a sense of hope and a desire and hunger to make meaningful changes, something we often see in depictions of youth from that time but that was all gone later. Also a reason as to why a time skip with no adequate reasoning can lead to lazy and messy writing.

One thing I want to point out that this is a great example of how a time skip can often be a lazy plot device because how do you for instance explain Sang Cheol´s interest for Jeong Bun after liking Yeong Rye initially?

Even till the end the writer is not ashamed to showcase what truly this drama is about which is not about female friendship (how it was set up to be). I underestimated the great impact Jae Pil´s character would have for the girls despite the synopsis laid out but I am left feeling a sense of grief of what could have been a better and an important message in a dramaland that rarely showcase the depths of love that can be seen in a friendship especially between two women. I think the girls needed an honest conversation with each other and a sense of yearning for each other that you often see in a love story.

I was left feeling bamboozled by the persistent scenes with Yeong Rye and Jae Pil continuously and even till the end and Jae Pil´s complete amnesia regarding his initial consistent crush on Jong Hui pre-time skip.

If you´re going to implement a time-skip within the drama it needs to be done with a respect to how the plot was set up in the first place. Choices needs to make sense but here it all just felt so messy and far from how the show started.

You can honestly say that Yong Rye is the actual main gal here, Jae Pil the main love interest and Jong Hui is reduced to a "pitiful" second FL...

Also similarly to Dami´s role in Itaewon Class (which I did not like and also was a great reason as to why I dropped that show) was the sudden interest Seo Joon´s character had for Yi Seo after liking the other woman for a long time which made no sense. So I got a bit flashback from that one...

Seul Ki has grown so much since her SI days! Always so surprised by how versatile she is as an actress compared to when she was a contestant on that show three years ago recalling how stiff and awkward she was there lol. She carries such an elegant and mature presence here while also blending well with the romcom genre!

Yeah, I have to agree. I hope she´s in much better state than she was during LIC time.
She really was. My first drama with her was Her private life and she was so beautiful there despite having some surgery but she still had that heart shape face. yes, then it was the scandal which and some health issues that triggered her significant weight loss. Her reputation was under pressure due that scandal. good thing she got around during MMH but her weight loss there was also really concerning she was so skinny already. Now, I just hope she really takes care of herself and don’t put her body through that stress again, honestly. She was my first kdrama actress love lol so I have a lot of soft spot for her and don’t like when she gets a lot of hate ahah😆

Title Pump Up the Healthy Love Spoiler
Isn't the answer to your question answered by the show towards the end. She lost the bet and danced on tv but…
Yes, you´re right. However, I felt that the message was not as clear, maybe more indirect. Did she stop resisting herself because she realized depriving herself due to such shallow reason is actually a unhealthy mindset, because that was not the message I was getting. But I am glad she returned to her normal self again. I think is more about the underlying societal mindsets that I wish the show could try to push more at the forefront in terms of why these unhealthy fitness mindset are so normalized. I kinda feel that the drama Second shot at love will probably be better at that based on just watching the beginning of episode 1 regarding the underlying reasons for the pervasive alcohol addiction in Korea.

Title Pump Up the Healthy Love Spoiler
This show is so fun but I wish we got to see more scenes with the leads together since that´s what I was waiting for. I just really love their dynamic and their banter. So I hope that besides the different storylines with the different characters we´re getting, we´re also seeing the ML focused on Miran too like in the beginning. However, I love the different workout sidestories with the latest about childcare and last week with the really skinny guy.

I hope that the show also touches on the ML´s unhealthy obsession with working out and his relationship with food. I think because he keeps bringing up him being a small baby and having to make up for that with working out a lot he has probably been on this mental battle game since he was really young. It´s also important that the writer makes the note of his personal development and healthy love with working out as well.

Btw that mean coworker has to go. She is absolutely vile and disgusting but if I were the FL I would just ignore her. She is obviously deeply jealous and insecure which is why she feels the need to be so passive aggressively rude to Miran. I bet she has her own body issues to which I wouldn´t be surprise of with her saying she doesn´t gain weight or probably has her own toxic relationship with food. It is not the people who are content with themselves or focused on their life that you see this kind of HS mean girl behavior and that goes for the director at the other training center too.

I do feel kind of conflicted with this show though because on one hand I love the way the topic of working out is addressed in this show and why it is so important, not for our physical appearances but most importantly for our health and our well-being. However, Miran going on a flour liberation so she can look slim on camera in this latest episode is one of those??? Like why aren´t we trying to separate messages between healthy reasons for going on a diet (and working out) versus the toxic ones that is targeted at (especially) women and (particularly at Korean women)? It doesn´t help that the ML is not saying anything about it because he himself despises the word FAT lol so he is just one good but also questionable influence/enabler to bad mindset to the FL.

Right, that´s so true. I remember watching Birthcare Center and didnt understand why they didn´t let the babies…
Yeah, now that I think about it that was confusing to me.

Eh, I’m not stressing about the “triangle” because IY has made her feelings clear multiple times and this…
Right, that´s so true. I remember watching Birthcare Center and didnt understand why they didn´t let the babies be with their mothers but went on fully taking care of them instead. The whole point of that center was for the moms to bond with their babies, but how could they do that when they´re literally taken to the nursery right after giving birth and spends most of the time there?

Glad to see that she lived such a long life starring in so many dramas including the ones I´ve watched and loved. I remember her in Happiness and how much I felt for her character. Truly a wonderful actress and a halmeoni that will always have a distinct and lovely memory in my heart. I hope she rest well❤️
