First 8 episodes were great, this needed to be at most a 12 episode series.
They should have stayed with the case a week format till the last two episodes and then taken down Yoo. The entire sister plot was a huge mistake as it took us too far away from the mail revenge plot, and because it didn’t fit the show it made every character act out of character. I love WDH but he couldn’t carry that level of emotional scenes and so nothing hit. He over-acted so bad, it was just him screaming and sobbing for like 4 episodes straight. They should have kept the show where he shines which is the cocky, playful, sharp attorney (he has brilliant comedic timing and so much charisma).
Disappointed in the writer—they also wrote Queen for Seven Days which remains one of the best written k dramas ever. First half was 10/10 no question, second half was 5/10.
If there is no romance in this drama, I think it would be a great one..In this sometimes romance sucks and sometimes…
I feel like there was great chemistry in the beginning when they were bickering and at odds and plying around as commoners but then once her identity was revealed she completely shut down emotionally, and didn’t even care about being with him anymore, she just cared about being a martyr for his revenge. It was such an odd place to take her character and took all the passion and chemistry out of the romance.
I didn't like the head nurse part , so I rate it 8/10
I agree that was a really weak plot point, but wasn't really the point of the show. Everything else in the story was so well done I'd still give it a 10/10.
Woo Do Hwan and Jung Eun Chae are carrying this drama. I love watching them every week. Looking forward to watching…
This is hilariously spot on.
But I'd add that Kim Kyung Nam is also carrying this drama. He's the only character that I really feel connected to and am rooting for. That final scene last scene between him and Yeong was so good I was like "Oh this is what it's like when two great actors are in a scene together"
So I just found out Woo Do Hwan will be playing a bubbly busan sweetie as his other dual role. I thought I was excited before! I've never seen him do happy and energetic, I cannot wait to see him play such a different character.
I wanna know so much more about the character Woo Doo Hwan will portray because on paper it seems really standard (stoic guard). He usually picks interesting/layered characters so I can't imagine he'd take this unless there was something more to it. A comment from the production company has me intrigued though, they say WDH has "unique facial features that can show both good and evil"--so I'm hoping either his characters have different sides, or his characters in the two worlds are vastly different. Either way cannot wait to see him!
I’m really excited to see kyung nam .. He is such a good actor I hope he becomes more popular after this drama
Oh my gosh, I love him! He's so underrated. Everyone is going on about LMH and WDH but I am also so excited to see him. Judging by the writer and cast, this should be a bit hit, and I hope so so much he gets lead roles after this.
Do the characters have any sort of growth arc? Everyone says they are good characters but I hate stories where they stay the same and don't really evolve.
That trailer got me pumped! Beautiful shots, costumes, scenes-- a great tease at the intrigue and conflict of the story. Liu Haoran seems a little more hardcore and bad-A than his character in NIF2, which only gets me more excited. Can't wait!
I wish I had faith that the female lead would be strong and interesting, but seeing as she's a maidservant there will be a huge power imbalance and she'll probably be another C Drama doormat female. Sigh.
The main actor, Arthur Chen, cannot act to save his live. His performance was just okay to begin with but its…
He pulls off the brashness, charisma and presence of the character extremely well. Plus he is believable in the fighting sequences and has good chemistry with other characters. The subtle emotional range of AC is lacking, but luckily for him, this character is one who bottles emotions, so I find his strengths as an actor match the character's strengths, and I 100% buy him as NQ and find him engaging on screen. That said, I'm actually looking forward to a change in cast for Season 2, so that we can add layers to NQ as he matures. AC did a fine job for this role.
This is the best executed fantasy C Drama I've seen. It wasn't perfect--too many episodes, inconsistent and uneven in plotting and characters, etc. But the overall writing was pretty seamless (emotionally resonant scenes , great sense of conflict and tension, well-crafted overall narrative, nice use of foreshadowing and theme), the characters were well-drawn, the acting was flawless (I can't think of one actor who didn't play their part to a T, the chemistry amongst the characters was no joke), the directing was sure, cinematography was breathtaking, pacing and editing were solid , CGI was impressive. I love the fun beginning , the romantic middle and the devastating last third. The last 12 or so eps (minus the last two, which felt like a letdown) were phenomenal. Sometimes it was just okay, but when it was good, it was SO DAMN GOOD. There were a few scenes I count as some of the best scenes of any show, period. That's why this is now my #1 fantasy C Drama.
"From the start, her heart has only had you, and I'm just an outsider"Thank you Run Yu for saying what was obvious…
Phoenix said it best when he said "It wasn't that you made miscalculations. It was that I made no calculations." Pretty much sums up the whole reason why she never loved the fish.
Idk why but after watching this purely amazing show I tried looking for something similar and I saw many recommendations…
I couldn't get into Eternal Love either. I started skipping so much of the episodes I wondered why I was watching it in the first place. Also Fu Yao was pretty good but really drops in quality halfway through. Couldn't finish.
I keep coming to check back here to see when this is airing and it feels like it's been years even thought it's been like 3 months. This is gonna be a hit.
