I think Rowoon is doing his best work to date in DWY. The plot is all over the place, but he is anchoring the show IMO. Which says good things. But I am also worried about this upcoming show as the writer doesn't have great work. A lot of good actors signed on, though, so maybe the script was impressive? I think Rowoon could be really big if he can have a breakout role.

Yeah I felt that, too! They seemed very stale in the pictures. I'll wait till we see the poster--that usually gives a good hint on the chemistry. He's been working with a lot of noona leads lately, so I'm curious how he does with a younger actress. I haven't seen her in anything.

I only know of him as an actor. Each role I see him in he gets better and better, and quite impressed with him in DFY. Like, this guy has chops. He's gonna go far. I'm glad he can respectfully wrap up his music career for now and has a chance to pursue something he clearly loves and is very talented at. I think that was brave of him. He doesn't owe anyone an explanation or apology.

I think the second half is gonna be full of cool plot revelations and crazy twists. I realized after watching 8 that the writer has been dropping breadcrumbs that seem inconsequential or undeveloped and distracting everyone with the romance love square plot, but there has gotta be a lot more than we realize going on w the whole curse history.

If anyone has seen “The Light in Your Eyes” and that twist I am getting the same feeling from this drama. Like things are not at all what they seem and I think the plot’s about to break wide open.

Yeah we have to remember ML only found out his feelings are real a week or two ago. And the FL is pushing him away at every opportunity but also isn’t quite letting him go. He’s very confused and has been through a lot with this whole ordeal so I can see why he’s struggling with breaking up with her.

I binged all current 8 eps in like 3 days. I find the show super entertaining and for me the eps always seem to fly by. The main actors are great.

The writer is building up to some big reveals in the second half. So there is a lot of mystery and you’re not quite sure why people act the way they do but I really enjoy the sense of mystery. The romance is addicting too.

Ooh right! Remember he got sick but miraculously recovered? Maybe he made a deal with the devil ….

Ok I was frustrated at that too! I wanted the ML to start calling her out on her own contradictions. I think the key line was how she said it’s worse to be the one who cares more, and caring for ML is a huge risk so she’s in deep denial. But is always playing games with the ML while
He is trying to be genuine with her.

Wow I see crazy high chemistry and it’s one of the reasons I like the show so much. Amazing how differently people can see things.

I was thinking this too but I think there’s a lot more going on w the past curse story and that will be the plot of the second half —them uncovering that and figuring out how to break it

He’s in a really weird limbo cause of how it all unfolded. He tried to break up with her but saw how unhappy she was and thought it was a love spell w HJ and so took her back. Then he realized his feelings were real but HJ pushed him away at every given opportunity and he is also trying to deny and get over his feelings and doesn’t want to hurt his GF again and his relationship with his GF is comfortable to him. He’s kinda trapped in a corner. And also remember the entire drama has happened over a month so it’s only been a couple weeks at this point that he realized he really loves HJ, so him freezing and not knowing what to do makes sense.

I agree it feels organic to see him accept and deny his feelings at the same time and struggle to move on either way. I think it’s a realistic and human portrayal

Right it feels like they keep having the same conversation over and over. I love the conversation and it’s fun but I’m ready for them to move to the next phase of the plot.

When I first saw Rowoon in XU I was ~not impressed~ cause his character seemed bland and LJW was just so good and stole the show. I thought RW was another so so idol actor.

How wrong I was! Rowoon is so dynamic here! He hits every emotional beat, his micro-expressions are flawless, and his comedic timing is fantastic. I am really impressed and think he’s hitting it out of the park.

I guess XU didn’t give him much meat in that role so he didn’t have much to work with. So happy to be wrong and enjoying this show.

I thought this at first about her being a cheater. But when I considered it more I realized how lonely she has been in that relationship—she’s staying in it because she wants the perfect life even though she knows deep down he isn’t that interested in her, so I could totally see her giving in to someone who chases her and desires her and makes her feel wanted like she wants her Bf to want her. And the asshole she’s cheating with could very well have pursued her just to get back at the ML. It’s still shitty on her part but it makes sense to me.

It does feel unpleasant a few times but the show openly acknowledges it and the characters point it out quite often.

It’s very clear that the 2FL is living in a fantasy of her own and just wants to be the wife of the handsome and successful man, she wants the perfect life and doesn’t really respect his boundaries when he tries multiple times to break up w her or ask for space, which he does when he realizes how he feels about the FL. —But he’s also told by the FL that she has no interest in him so he ends up trying to do right by his GF when she won’t let him go, but he can’t seem to escape the FL, which is the whole theme of the show.

They do a really good job of showing how the ML isn’t purposely doing any of this, he is trying to do the right thing but he’s put in a really weird situation because of the fantasy element, and his actions make sense in the given moment. He’s in a weird limbo for a while because of the love potion and struggles to be true to himself and not hurt his GF b when he doesn’t really know what’s real or not. Anyway, I don’t like cheating storylines either but this one didn’t bother me except a little here and there and then it was more frustration wishing the ML would just stop denying himself and accept his feelings, not like I felt like he was an immoral jerk.

I’ve never seen the actress but I feel the same about the lead actor. He’s very charismatic and handsome but he has a hard time w showing certain emotions convincingly and it takes the impact out of what should be very moving moments. So now I’m really worried about this drama, even tho the plot sounds awesome.

It was definitely crossing a boundary, but I think we need to look at it from her viewpoint and not ours as the audience. We know how obsessively protective he is of hiding his face for traumatic reasons, but to her he just seems like a celebrity who is trying not to get noticed. And I can understand her being curious as to who he really is since he lives next door and she has to interact with him.

If she had thought, for example, that he was disfigured and hiding his face out of shame, she wouldn't have looked. But she seemed to view it as more like a mischievous thing than something actually harmful to him.

She's obviously delusional, but boundaries go both ways, and the dude also needs to put up better boundaries with her. Since he isn't, she keeps thinking there's some chance between them.
