Arguably I think the situation involves a misunderstanding. When they initially met many years ago and faced a snowstorm together, XW was genuinely grateful and admired her. However, years later, upon encountering her again, he witnessed her mistreating a maid and heard rumours of her being a mischievous girl, which contrasted with his initial impression. Thus, he is trying to navigate trust issues and to him this feeling of jealousy from love is unfamiliar to him.

The royal family holds a higher status irrespective of their political power, unlike dukes or lords who attain power through positional advancement. The authority within the royal family is inherently tied to their birthright and background. Even a seemingly trivial act of disrespect towards a pet associated with the royal family could lead to consequences. If you get what I mean.

nah her mom is the worst. like in LLTG the mother was strict to her daughter but easy with others but you can see that she cares about her. while ning er's mom just wants her to stay out of site and don't drag her into trouble. every word she says is saying she detests her, its crazy to me. I can't see a bit of care or love towards her own daughter.

honestly I think its the empress's fault, like he knew that the empress got his dad's back and him following his daddy around all the time he got his attitude from him. The crown prince has always said he had no interest in being emperor and he was never someone that used his role as a reason to order people around (which is why I think yan lin gets along with him so well, if he was all serious, yan lin wouldn't be able to be carefree around and joke with him like he does).
