Why is she only in few dramas? We need more of her!!!
Taeri's selective about scripts and likes to challenge herself, so you won't see her churning out cookie cutter dramas. Her training for JN over the last 3 years was grueling and she definitely deserves a long break to recharge! We need to clone her! 🤩
How is it possible that Jeong Nyeon's singing is fine in the last performance?
To recall JN's mother's comments about the Pansori master with the raspy voice: "To anyone listening, his singing didn't sound broken at all, but in fact, seemed full. So people used to say that he sang with a voice he didn't have. That he sang something out of nothing."
We're therefore seeing the performance from the audience's POV and JN is filling in the gaps of her broken voice with her acting.
I think it would've been better if they just made the first part into a 3 hour movie. This had a lot of fillers…
I think the director had to make a lot of compromises due to the long gap between releases of part 1 and 2. I'd love to see him do a director's cut and release it as a 6 or 8 part drama.
That's it, after 12 episodes. The kdrama "Jeongnyeon, The Star is Born" is over. What did I think, honestly? I…
After MOG abandoned Maeran and YJN, there's no way she would've dared showed her face again at the theatre and she probably didn't care anyway. In the epilogue there's a clip of her being successful in movies, but apparently this wasn't the case in the webtoon (I haven't read it).
I don't think there needed to be a conversation between YJN and her mother, as they had already reconciled. It was enough that her mother was in the audience.
Can someone tell me if it's really worth to watch cause i wanna give it a try but i'm a little bit reluctant that…
IMO Mr Sunshine is one of the all-time greats and definitely worth watching, but everyone has different tastes. I suggest that you watch at least four episodes and see if you like it. The first episode might be a little confusing with lots of characters introduced and the timelines aren't clear, so you can Google a character relationship chart to help.
Once you start watching, the age gap isn't really an issue because the leads have great chemistry. The romance is handled beautifully and definitely doesn't show too much.
If you don't like the romance between the main couple, then there are other shipping options!
I feel like Kim Tae Ri found her character in a stage production of Peter Pan and Peter.
The manwha (comic/webtoon) has been partially translated into English and is available online. Maybe you should check it out to see whether Taeri's interpretation of Jeongnyeon is accurate.
Curious about the plot.Would it have been better if it was set in modern times?
No, the 1950s setting is crucial because that's when women's traditional theatre was the most popular. There aren't many dramas set in this period, so it's a nice change.
And another award! Kim Taeri will receive a Special Award in the first Yang Hye Sook Korean Theatre Awards for helping to introduce Gukgeuk to the public through Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born.
Jeongnyeon: TSIB hasn't even finished screening yet, but Kim Taeri is already earning accolades. She was named as the drama category MVP of the Year by the K-Culture Trend Forum.
There's literally no one who can match the level of kim taeri. She's an all rounder performer and she proved it…
I totally agree! KTR can take on any role/genre and do it so naturally. I love Meryl Streep, but you can sometimes see her "acting", which is never the case with KTR. She works so hard and totally deserves all her successes! 🥰
the drama started off good in korea. problem is with international viewers, they are looking for oppas😂
I don't think you can generalise like that. I'm sure there are many viewers like me who prefer a unique story with stellar acting and top-class production values over a paint by numbers drama with a pretty-boy oppa. 😊
