genuinely what even is chan's personality outside of dnx? he does not act like he's a successful actor or business owner in the slightest. instead he acts like those disney channel/nickelodeon stars who keep reheating their teenage nachos by doing podcasts or fan stuff about the show they did decades ago
just started episode 7 and I'm shocked at how well adjusted yu jing xiu seems to be despite his helicopter parent upbringing, I thought he would be a pathetic, spoiled little mama's boy with no backbone lol.

I find chan's character deeply intriguing but it also seems too heavy for the kind of drama this is. I haven't read the webtoon so I don't know how it goes, and whether they will do it justice but it's very clear that something is deeply off with him. he's very clearly stuck in the past and seems to be suffering from some vague kind of peter pan syndrome. I didn't find any of his interactions with dareum endearing in episode 4. first it felt a little like love bombing, now it feels like he's trauma dumping on her, and there's an unspoken burden of the role of a comfort giver on her end, especially with the whole “everyone leaves me” thing.
we often acknowledge power dynamics in boss employee relationships but I think a fan celebrity dynamic has similar if not worse implications. I don't think chan will do anything to harm her, but their dynamic is sometimes uncomfortable to watch.
I'm very curious to know exactly what happened in the past because he's exhibiting clear signs of depression and needs help lol. idk if he'll end up getting it though I really do hope so.
I don't think anyone but kim hye jun could've made nam da reum so damn likeable, it takes serious talent to not come across as complete cringe in this type of role, I am in awe!
