I may not be Spanish, but I've consumed enough media from everywhere around the world to be desensitized to any kind of sexual content. My gripes with the original are solely on the fact that a team that spent 5 months undergoing rigorous training was so easily distracted and fazed at the slightest moment of trouble. Childish jealousy from one member while another member is literally trying to do their job like they're not a hardened criminal and one of the hostage school children instead. It's not about the sex, the violence, the cast, or the language. It is simply about bad writing and unlikeable characters.
This is not to say that the writing in the remake is flawless. Far from it. Just that the team here feels more like a group of professionals who are focused on their task despite the misplaced humor and often cringy dialogue exchanges.
Well, by now I've watched the entire first season and my point still stands.
And to answer your question, there are some rudimentary character flaws that are apparent right from the onset. Traits like these are usually only apparent in extremely stressful climactic scenarios usually saved for later in the seasons. Whereas here, the team is acting like they weren't all studying about the heist for the past 5 months (which tbf they weren't, they were too busy being horny with each other despite explicit instructions from the Professor). I could go on and on about the character problems in just the first three episodes but now I have an entire season's worth of crap worth noting xD
I will say this though, the original really got the Professor and Raquel right. Yoo Ji Tae and Kim Yoon Jin couldn't hold a candle to the spark those two had.
I had never watched the original before I finished this one and now I went to watch it. Three episodes in and the team in the original is so much more stupid and reckless than the one here. I don't know what those who keep bashing the remake are going on about. The team here (inside the Mint at least) is much more goal-oriented and not just a bunch of horny dumbasses who literally have no rationality except for a select few.
Just finished episode 11 and oh, how I cried at the scene between the Queen and Prince Bogum. Kim Min Ki is definitely going places after this. He is such a talented young actor.
Even the character of Bogum is such a layered, complex, and righteously flawed one. Definitely the realest out of all the princes.
Can't wait to see more of him and Grand Prince Seong Nam together in future episodes. These two, and the Queen (obviously) are carrying this drama.
Is it just me or does anyone else also find the romance angle for the grand prince unnecessary or forced? Cause…
as much as she is a sweetheart, she feels like a little sister instead of a potential love interest for literally ANYONE. I find myself itching to skip her scenes. I don't want her to be the new crown Princess please she's just not it. Cho Wol is a much better character to be honest, she'd make a great royal too.
Bogum is hands down my favourite prince! So much dimension, depth and charisma. Love this boy and the bond between him and Seong Nam. I want more of these two!
Although I must admit I admire her perseverance, I could never.

CRYING, SHAKING, THROWING UP
But yeah, this will get resolved soon hopefully. Conflicts in this drama rarely stick around for too long.

But I'll be lying if I said that I don't spend every episode wishing they weren't related. I'd kill for literally any BL moments.
