The drama is censored so it's only bromance/soulmates. The original novel the drama is based on is BL, as well as the animated adaption.

It's probably because of the time jump, but don't worry. It makes sense if you keep watching. :)

I can only encourage you to give it a try, because the story is not boring at all. Yes, the novel is long (around 2,000 pages) but it's worth it in my opinion. You can find fan translations for the novel online so if you're unsure you could check them out before you actually purchase the novel.
As for the drama, I watched The Untamed and 50 episodes might look intimidating at first but I ended up wanting more when I completed it. That is, if you enjoy it.
