This had EVERYTHING going for it - amazing cast (Lee Soo Hyuk!), an interesting premise, a lot of investment and a great OST but sadly the story and script completely failed this drama. It feels like literally NOTHING happened (not figuratively, literally).
I think this show was trying to be wise and questioning and existential, but it was ultimately boring. Usually, I love slow dramas that are all about character but this was not one, the characters were not complex enough to be interesting.
Really liked this show. I have to admit that I skipped a couple of eps in the middle due to what I refer to as a ‘silly blip in the narrative’ but loved it overall.
Genuinely enjoying this drama and absolutely love the cast - it looks beautiful, is well acted and I want PBY’s wardrobe... ...on the downside though, the plot is paper-thin, there is very little genuine conflict and the supernatural elements don’t seem to have a solid foundation.
Is he more like an Angel of Death or a devil like character? Or something different to both? Thank you so much!…
Thank you kindly! I still feel that, lexically, ‘doom’ feels inaccurate but ‘misfortune’ not strong enough! If SIG’s character was only bringing misfortune then he would be more recognisable but the contract dynamic adds another layer. Then you have what I suppose to be the ‘balance’ between SIG and the young girl. None of this affects my enjoyment, it’s simply a way to quantify and understand the characters’ nuances and motivations. Thank you again :)
Hello! I have a question for any Korean speakers scrolling through the comments: The translation to ‘doom’ for SIG’s character feels a bit like a mistranslation - what would be a better way to describe his reason for being? (Elaboration in spoiler)
Started so well but fell victim to tropes (and not the good ones) and the writers not being confident in the direction it was moving in - ultimately the best thing about this was the OST (which is excellent)

Such a missed opportunity *sad face forever*
Side note: The ML reminds me a little of Lee Min Ki :)
(And an absolute tear-fest, I think I ended up dehydrated)
