I honestly don’t think this drama should be rated this high, and I feel like the only reason it is, is because we rarely get a serious/mature romance j drama. This was not really good though… it was all over the place. It could have been good but they added so much unnecessary stuff into it… was a very weird watch for me lmao
Reading the comments here, this looks like a good show and I wanna watch it. However, I am not sure if I can handle…
i skipped the scenes i couldnt handle. you kinda can see where thing are going before it happens, although you still get a glimpse of it since its impossible to not see, its bearable. This drama def is not one that makes light of anything, so it will be a depressive watch either way.
I really loved this drama for the episodes i watched. I had to stop at episode 8. Just seeing the title of this drama gives me anxiety, yeah its that serious. I want to give a warning to overly emotional people like me. It's not only the real sad history that made me extremely upset and depressed knowing how it'll most likely end, but the couple's chemistry is like nothing I've ever witnessed, and i honestly wish i never watched it. I will never forget them, or their love. Please watch at your own risk. I heard someone on here say they'd probably have to take anti-depressants if they watched this, and although that's an extra af thing to say, i can't believe that I understood where they were coming from.
i dont get why people always only blame the FL when the ML could have also made things clear a lot sooner and not dragged it out. Hes the one who made her confused from the very beginning idg why yall blaming only her, dw she was dumb too tho i agreee.
a lot of people don't like his acting, but I think he didn't have the character that made him stand out.
mte. ppl judging his acting in one drama that was so badly written, every single person in that drama looked like they couldnt act lbr. but ive seen their other works to know that its the drama and not the actors fault.
people who judge this woman based off of one single drama where she played a character that had low-self esteem and was finding herself... lmao. could never be me. i would at least watch 2/3 of an actors dramas before continuously complaining about them in the comments. Im soo hyang in graceful family gave me goosebumps. I could not believe that was the same person in gangnam ID. Her range is huge, yall judging her range based on one work is peak hilarity
So we're to believed that she never dated anyone all those years until they met again? That was the most unrealistic…
1. yeah i totally agree with you, that it's also her fault. like she wanted an escape and lee joon provided her what her husband could not give her; comfort. she was able to cry in front of him, and complain to him about her life, and since he displayed himself as a strong, more straightforward person, she did would not feel burdened doing those things like she would with heetae.
2. honestly, i wish they had at least slept together lmao. Idk if it's just me loving the two together, or just because the way things blew up, you'd expect that they would have at least been dating/seeing each other for weeks. At the same time, since im rewatching it now, although they only kiss.. their relationship is so much more even without them sleeping together. Like let's say they didn't even kiss, just the fact that she can act so open with him, and went to his house whenever she was feeling lonely etc. is cheating in itself. so i can sort of see why it blew up so much now.
i mentioned before in my review for this drama that this drama was not made to cater to viewers, if it was they would have slept together. i mean the reason why "secret love affair" blew up was because they had a lot of things that catered to the viewer. a rich woman as his teacher, a poor innocent (and hot) man as her student. it was all very commercial imo, and tbh i dropped that drama at episode 13 cause i was just like "whats the point? i can barely feel an emotional attachment even though they are sleeping together". this drama had NONE of this and yet it was 100x more intense for me. the characters all connected with each other. it was more emotional and raw than most affair dramas because it was realistic. and this is also why people ended up skipping this show, the average viewer doesn't like shows this realistic.

not the op but i wanted to also add/ discuss why il ri cheated on him. what people dont realize is that it was lee joon who made the first move. ilri was just trying to be nice to someone who seemed to hate life and plus she basically felt bad for him. her actions really just seemed to stem from being a good person. Lee joon was the person who triggered the whole affair (not saying its only his fault though). another thing, the two barely do anything together. they kissed twice and thats basically it. this drama is not like a typical affair drama where the girl sleeps with the guy, or is even dating/seeing the guy for weeks until her husband finds out. lee joon and ilri were never even dating in the first place. It actually kind of makes me think "did this whole thing have to really blow up this big when they just kissed twice?" but then again im not married so i can't really say much.
On ilri's character, she was someone who married a guy about 15 years older than her and never experienced a normal kind of love and therefore she lets lee joon kiss her, just so she can get a taste for how it feels like. i think this is really the main reason why she had the urge to experience a love with another man in the first place
