No one has completed this drama (it’s still airing) so a good number of those that somehow were able to mark this as completed likely rated low from the beginning without watching much if anything
This drama doesn’t have a typical layout. It very much feels like you’re watching a video game play (which was their intention I think) I find it enjoyable, most of the characters are great, and our leads have excellent chemistry (they’re not actually siblings). I’d say try it out at least!

Haha I usually wait for dramas to finish airing because I have no patience and like to binge watch. This is the first time I’ve watched most of a show while it’s airing.
I only have Viki too, so I have to wait longer for new episodes🥲

This is gonna sound weird, but I actually didn’t think he was that attractive based on still photos (at first). It wasn’t until I watched him in action that I realized how attractive he is 😅 I watched the trailer for WoL because the synopsis looked like the exact drama I needed in my life and instantly was like “Well hello who are you???” And then watched FIYS while waiting for WoL to be fully out. I think his acting (his eyes for real) really brings out his handsomeness for me. It’s been a deep dive down the Xu Kai hole ever since 🤣

Same as above ^ But also, it seems to be a common trope in C-drama historical and fantasy (wuxia/xianxia) dramas, and usually signifies a highly traumatic event (e.g., death of a soul mate, other great loss), and in fantasy dramas, can represent loss of power/cultivation. It usually appears to happen overnight.

If you want to continue watching (legally) for free, you'll have to wait for Tencent to release episodes for free. Otherwise, you'll have to subscribe to WeTV/Tencent, or it's also available on Viki (in the US at least)
Any good drama similar to this or just slice of life with lots of romance?
Not sure if it counts as slice of life since the FL is a celebrity, but I just finished rewatching You Are My Glory for like the 5th time. It’s one of my go-to dramas if I want fluffy sweet, relatively angst-free romance haha

I do have to argue that for the many people who worked on this drama for months, not just lead actors, an incredibly bad rating isn’t a trivial thing. I think it’s fair that fans of this drama are upset that antis have enough power to significantly affect ratings of shows that have nothing to do with content. I’m more invested in this than I usually am, because I love XK and want his dramas to do well, especially if they warrant a much better rating.
Sure some of those low ratings may be people upset about certain things being cut, but I bet you a larger proportion are haters of one or both lead actors. Which is completely unfair to everyone who was involved in production. Bad ratings probably negatively affect other people’s careers and future project options, not just XK. I’m sure it’s more than just a subjective rating on frivolous entertainment for them.

Putting this under a spoiler tag since it's just really long haha Except the three dramas discussed here, I've seen every drama in which XK has played a lead role . . . and I've watched almost all of them since WoL aired - I have like no chill when it comes to XK apparently ^^'
I really love AMA! It's earned a place as one of my top favorite dramas! I also really enjoyed The Legends, but that drama has some issues toward the end that keep it from being a top drama for me. The cast is excellent but in the last 10-15 episodes, there were some significant continuity issues and weird, abrupt cut scenes that were very confusing and honestly gave me a bit of whiplash. It almost seemed like I was thrust into a parallel drama world to check out how an alternate storyline was progressing, before being thrust back into the main story. I'll probably still rewatch it sometime though!

It helped that it was around the holidays too. I work at a university so I had a lot of time off and January is a bit slow haha
I liked RF, but wouldn’t consider it one of my fave XK dramas, I just wish they’d given him a little more screen time 🤷🏼♀️

I’ve heard variable things about Court Lady which is why I haven’t watched it yet. I was saving ALP for last because I’m sure Ill love it haha
