Hopefully end of this month/early March . . . but it depends on MangoTV airing schedule. And I'm hopeful they'll do a lot more promo for this show than they did for SF6. The two leads already filmed a variety show (Hi6) a week or so ago, so I'm hopeful this means this will air very soon!

This is more because I love crime/thriller/mystery dramas, and I have no idea if XK would even consider this kind of role - but I'd love to seem him in a dark, gritty thriller drama as like a cop/detective/PI. As far as I can tell, though, that doesn't seem to be a common c-drama genre (probably lots of censorship issues?). Most of the crime/mystery dramas I see tend to be historical, so I'll take that as well, but I'm resigned to getting my crime fix through K-drama and Criminal Minds (one of my fave American shows) haha

I don't see him taking on true villain roles for a while, as those tend to be support/guest roles rather than leading roles - and at this point in his career he's probably focused on getting first/second billing roles. A kind of antihero/dark hero role though, I could and would want to see!

Don’t want you to be completely misled and have you expecting a lighthearted fluff fest the entire time. As someone who has finished the drama, it starts off light-hearted, cute, and light on the plot - but it progresses into much heavier themes with complex characters and a pretty neat plot. I laughed, I cried (a lot), and my heart broke multiple times. It’s different than WoL but still a great drama so I hope you enjoy!

Yeah, it’s receiving hate on multiple fronts for reasons unrelated to the actual quality of the drama, which is a shame. This likely will end up being an underrated gem but hopefully the haters get bored and move on to the next thing to maintain their “misery loves company” life goals 🤷🏼‍♀️

Only a small number of people have been able to finish it so far because Tencent released the final 6 episodes only for those who paid extra money. Regular subscribers and Viki users won’t be able to finish the drama until next week

But even with only a lower number of people finishing, the rating still doesn’t make sense at all

You know, this actually makes me a bit sad for Xu Kai. I've seen interviews with him where he says he's a big fan of the original games, as well as the older drama adaptations and Hu Ge. Like that drama (CP1) was revolutionary to him at the time. XK did his best trying to live up to that drama and Hu Ge's legacy . . . and did a spectacular job. But now he's getting hate from other fans of the same creation he loves so much, because people can't accept when new things seemingly surpass what came before . . .

At the same time, if XK HADN'T portrayed his characters well, those same people would most likely still hate and ridicule him. So there's like no winning :(

I just hope XK takes pride in making CPVI creators and fans happy!

Yeah part of what makes this drama neat and possibly a turn off for fans of more “traditional” story telling is that all of the “villains” here are morally gray in that they’ve done evil things but only to achieve something for a greater good.

Wait so if I’m interpreting this correctly, fans of the older adaptations are rating this low because it’s actually a good adaptation with accurate portrayal of the ML and they’re jealous? Wow, how mature of people who are certainly of an age to be more mature about fictional stories 🤣

A lot of the low ratings are from XK and Esther antis who rated low as soon as the drama started to air, as well as a lot of people who hate Esther’s voice - from what I can tell, most of the people who actually watched the drama like it (myself included), so I hope you enjoy as well! 😊

This is more for people reading this review, but it’s funny. If this person bothered to watch more than 6 episodes (if they even watched it), they’d know how off base they are about Qi. This person not thinking Qi is strong when she’s arguably the strongest member of our hero squad. She’s innocent and naive at first, not dumb nor powerless. God, these rando haters giving low ratings for just a voice.

If you don’t like it, don’t watch it. And if you don’t watch it, certainly don’t give it a rating.

The Yu Clan built their city on her back (she’s the humongous fish beast) so when she woke up from her slumber to ascend into the heavens (or something like that) she almost destroyed the Yu Clan and injured a lot of people. So I think she felt guilty and was trying to heal all the people she hurt, but required lots of energy to heal them AND remain static.

Same! Especially since Moonlit Reunion likely won’t air until like mid 2025!

I could be wrong but I don’t remember them specifying you couldn’t create a new life. It’s a fantasy drama with magic - different rules can apply compared to what other stories have. And YJZ’s life WAS limited. He only lived for 4 years after being created. BLH was weakened but not fatally, so his life force was likely worth a little more than Xuwei who was basically on deaths door. I don’t see a plot hole, but to each their own I suppose 🤷🏼‍♀️

He’s a cat person!! And I didn’t think he could be more perfect 😻

I also cried a lot, which I almost never do with dramas

ABAY is rumored to air end of this month/early March but no confirmed date yet. XK has another modern drama “Best Choice Ever” that is also set to air this year.

We'll probably have to wait until next week for the majority of people currently watching to finish. And I'm sure there will be an influx of new watchers once it's available in full on Tencent and Viki (hopefully)
