Does Xu Kai have another project after Moonlit Reunion?
Nothing has been announced, and as far as I can tell no rumors either.
I’m sure he’s considering scripts/options but he’s booked until at least May, so unless he goes straight into filming another drama after MR, we may not know for a while. I’m still figuring out how cdrama production works. It seems like some shows announce casts ahead of filming while others wait until like right before filming starts 🤷🏼♀️
only these are the two dramas of xu kai who i have not watched ...1 . court lady - drama is very long and couple…
I’m fine if there isn’t much romance, but if XK is more like a support role in terms of screen time I may hold off on CL until I’m more in the mood for dramatic palace politics with a side bonus of XK haha
A question for anyone who has seen both Royal Feast and Court Lady.
Does XK have more, about the same, or less screen time in Court Lady compared to Royal Feast? I’m debating if I want to watch Court Lady next, but have heard he doesn’t have much screen time. I enjoyed him in RF, but his overall lack of screen time compared to other leads (and support actors) was a bit disappointing
I know both dramas focus more on the FLs, less so romance, and I’ve enjoyed LYT in other dramas, but I’d be more willing to give CL a chance if XK appears often enough 😅
Yes he himself complained to police today..What was his agency doing i don’t know.
Hopefully, if/when he leaves, his new agency will have better PR and actually care about upholding his reputation, and protect him from retaliation. Honestly I’m surprised anyone actually takes that guy seriously given all the shady BS he pulls all the time
I'm on ep 30 and I see why xu Kai is one of the best actors in china the emotions he delivered here is off charts
Yeah anytime I see someone dissing his acting capabilities, I’d like to refer them to this scene in particular. WoL really gave him the script and freedom to really show his abilities
On Here's Marcus, for top Chinese drama last week, SAF6 ranked #2, but in reality, it was #3 since Amidst a Snowstorm…
What exactly constitutes a flop? Like from the business perspective - most of what I’ve seen are just netizens calling dramas flops if they personally don’t like them 🙄
Started my first rewatch today and have been sucked in just as much if not more so than the first time around.…
Also, I just need to applaud Gao Han’s acting here. Now that I know how things will turn out, I can definitely see the twinklings of the psycho cray delulu in early episodes - it’s subtle but it’s there
Started my first rewatch today and have been sucked in just as much if not more so than the first time around. Rather than skipping any scenes, I keep rewinding to watch certain scenes over again 🤣
God this drama is exactly what I need in my life right now
Just found this post: https://twitter.com/ForCdrama/status/1758487844077855137?s=20ABAY is not on the list, but…
I'm very unfamiliar with how c-drama promo works in China - but since the Hi6 episode Seven and XK filmed is set to air March 2, wouldn't it be best if ABAY started airing around that time? Or is it normal to have this kind of promo far in advance of the drama airing?
Like I said, I'm a newbie when it comes to understanding airing schedules/promo for c-dramas, so I'm just curious. I usually just wait for shows to finish airing before watching, so this whole pattern of like air-dropping dramas out of nowhere or only announcing the air date like a week in advance is a brand new concept to me haha ^^'
If this drama is going to air next month then atleast they should post some pictures of seven or new trailer of…
Maybe after the weekend? It was just a major holiday week in China, so they may have been waiting until after. At least I hope an announcement is imminent! 🤞🏻🤞🏻
Started reading the novel...their interactions are too cute 🤭 Mei Zhuyu is a dedicated husband constantly spoiling…
I think the biggest reason they don’t air while filming is censorship. And it seems China just keeps getting stricter with what they censor lately, so it would be a lot harder to navigate if they had a tight deadline for when a particular episode needed to air.
Decent CGI also takes time, and I know a lot of people criticize c-drama CGI but I guess they haven’t been watching too many American fantasy tv shows? Like if you want to see bad CGI go watch a teen fantasy show on the CW or Freeform network - and they air while filming so I’m sure the CGI has to be rushed.
If your episode tracker is accurate (dropped at episode 12), I’d highly recommend trying to stick it out a few more episodes before dropping. The plot and action really start to move forward and get pretty interesting in the latter teens (eps 16-19) and it just keeps unfolding from there. I’m not sure of the reasons you dropped, but the plot closely follows the gameplay from which it was adapted, so like many RPG games, the plot starts off rather slow and focuses mostly on developing characters/relationships and world building in the first stages.
If you typically enjoy XK, I’d really hate for you to miss out on some excellent acting in both his roles, as well as a really good, although fairly untraditional drama! I do understand it’s a hard sell to ask someone to spend even more of their free time on something they may not like, but perhaps you’ll be pleasantly surprised if you give this a few more episodes
If not, I hope his next drama As Beautiful As You has what you’re looking for! 😊
So why rating is 7.8 😂 I am looking forward to this one.. I have only watched ep1 when it started
All I can say is that the overall rating here and other places (Viki/Douban) don’t accurately reflect how people feel about the quality of the drama, at least those that have actually watched it
From day 1 of airing, there have been a lot of people rating very low (1-2) because they are either antis of one or both leads, can’t stand the voice timbre Esther uses for Qi, and/or are fans of other Chinese Paladin drama adaptations that are apparently angry (read: jealous) that this drama has been highly praised by the game creators and it’s fans.
The script also follows the game play fairly well (from what I’ve heard) and isn’t set up like a normal drama. It really feels like you’re on the adventure with our hero group, so lots of things will be confusing/mysterious at first but everything is revealed/resolved by the end. This slow burn plot at the beginning may also have led people to drop this, especially if they didn’t know to expect it or just didn’t want to wait for the action to pick up more
