because there is not equivalent prefix in English. BLH’s siblings called him “Lao “ Three/Thỉd. He called…
To emphasize what H19279 said, there isn't really a close equivalent in English that wouldn't read super awkward or likely confuse most Western watchers. In most western countries, we refer to people we're close to by their first name, maybe a nickname, but we don't have familiar terms (first brother, younger sister, etc), nor do we call our older friends "older sis" like "jiejie or unnie/noona"
Yeah, we sometimes refer to our friends casually as 'bro' and less often 'sis' but not often enough for most Western watchers to easily understand that when a character calls their older friend/colleague "Ge/hyung/oppa/older bro" that they're not blood related. We also don't place as much importance on age/seniority, so a lot of people wouldn't easily understand what is meant by referring to people by number/rank
I think most people who watch enough K-dramas and C-dramas will catch on eventually (I have, but it took some googling and sifting through reddit threads), but the goal of translation, especially for tv where you're reading subtitles and trying to pay attention to the action, is ease of comprehension rather than a precise translation of meaning.
Unfortunately, this is an issue all over the world, and not just relating to pop culture A lot of people seem to think that if it’s written on the internet it must be true. Which is an incredibly stupid (and sometimes dangerous) belief to have.
I just hope XK is doing okay - he seems to be in good spirits in the Reuters for MR at least
Based on what I’ve seen in the comments, people see the ending differently
For many, they see it as a happy ending. Open, but happy.
A smaller number have not considered it happy, though, just so that you’re aware
To me, I saw it as an open, but hopeful ending with an implied happily ever after. And honestly, it was the best possible ending that would have still fit with the plot and overall theme in my opinion.
Haha very true - I guess I’m more used to the kpop industry where even unfounded rumors are considered a “scandal” purely because it causes some commotion that affects an idol or entire group’s image.
Entire careers have been ruined because of unfounded accusations because once the public thinks an idol is guilty, they are, even if the rumor is proven false. Kpop is stressful - and it seems that c-ent isn’t very different ☹️
Wait, I still don't know Bian Luohuan's and Yue Jin Zhao's connection. Like are they just the same person, but…
Jin Zhao was created from Luohuan’s remaining life force and his wish for someone to resonate strong enough with Qi to defeat Zhu Yu. As for whether Jin Zhao is an entirely separate person or perhaps an altered/improved (at least in terms of resonating with Qi) version of Luohan, I’m still unsure. But even if Jin Zhao is technically Luohuan, without his memories and everyone else’s memories of him, can he really still be considered to be Luohuan? Isn’t that what makes us who we are? Our own memories and experiences as well as those of the people who know us?
I get myself all caught up in philosophical quandaries over this from time to time haha
You can probably skip most scenes with her and either of the leads . . . but I do think it's helpful to watch…
Haha I don't want to spoil anything - but being an important character doesn't always mean lots of screen time. Yes, compared to the leads and the main support actors, his screen time is much less - but in my opinion, most of his screen time is important for the plot and although he doesn't get a lot of scenes, he does show up more often in the later episodes
I don't think so. If the producer aims to broadcast this drama on web and satelite station, it requires available…
Does Mango TV only air one drama at a time? I've tried looking at broadcast schedules but it's confusing for someone like me who doesn't understand Mandarin ^^'

He becomes a more prominent character in the later half of the show, so his scenes increase as you go on. Not all of his scenes include her, though most of his earlier scenes do.
the reason for "spreading" is to incite fear for platform that if the driving of public opinion on this issue…
I've seen a bit about him and he's a big reason I hope Xu Kai leaves as soon as he can. No one should put up with that type of behavior. I just hope XK's contract doesn't have much more time left on it . . .
Yall is it fine to skip that annoying gu wan niang scenes cause i want to start this but been hesitating cause…
You can probably skip most scenes with her and either of the leads . . . but I do think it's helpful to watch any scenes that include her father, mostly because they talk about and kind of explain some of the politics and war strategies being used. So if you skip those, you may lose some exposition that helps in understanding other character's actions later on
She doesn't bother me much honestly. She's technically the second FL but Li Ni (XK) has absolutely no romantic feelings for her, and is very up front about it. So she never poses an actual threat to the main couple.

I don’t see the logic in his agency sabotaging him in order to make him stay? Like, how and why do they think that would work? I’m not doubting you - I just think it’s off-the-rails that XKs agency is so horrible.
I really really hope he leaves once his contract is up. He deserves much better 😔
Would this “scandal” potentially affect ABAY’s air date? Was or is this a really big deal? I hope not, especially since its really stupid and completely unfounded.
Nothing has been announced, and as far as I can tell no rumors either. I’m sure he’s considering scripts/options…
I hadn’t thought of that - I can’t speak for how the economy will affect future cdrama productions, but I’ve read around that although dramas aren’t doing as well in China anymore (as a whole), they’re doing relatively well internationally still. XK seems to be popular internationally, so hopefully he won’t have trouble getting roles 🤞🏻🤞🏻

It's more rom-com feeling than WoL (with some more serious moments) and the production isn't at the same level, but I found it overall enjoyable!
