How is this drama ...cause i watched till 4 ep but it didn't catch the vibe yaar....like how other drama of Xu…
This drama isn’t organized like most other dramas and is a slow burn in terms of plot. It’s adapted from a video game, of which they pretty faithfully restored the gameplay. So think of it more like you’re watching or playing an RPG game. The audience is treated like another character/player in that you basically only know what the mains know . . . which at the beginning is nothing haha
The first third of the show is a lot of character development, world building, and set up for the plot later on (like you would expect in a video game). Things really start to pick up in the teens and then it’s just kinda a rollercoaster from then on - the tone of the show also drastically shifts from light hearted and cutesy to serious and heartbreaking.
I really enjoyed this drama, and not just because Xu Kai is in it. The plot is pretty neat in my opinion and it’s kind of a shame that so many people aren’t willing to give this drama a chance past the first few episodes because it’s built different from typical c-dramas.
There isn't a sequel to the game that this drama is adapted from, so I doubt they would make a drama sequel (unfortunately).
The ending is kinda up to you on how you interpret it. Based on the comments I've seen here, a lot of people see it as a happy ending, but others see it as completely open, and even fewer thought it wasn't happy.
I personally see it as an open ending, but a hopeful/happy one, particularly for the main couple. Others may and have disagreed with me on that, but that just shows how the ending is open for interpretation.
They announced 500,000 reservations, but that was about a month ago. As far as I know, there have been no updated…
I'm not sure . . . I'm relatively new to paying attention to such things. I usually wait until dramas are done airing so I can binge them, but I have not patience when it comes to Xu Kai so now I am following his dramas before and as they air XD
If SML didn't exist, this drama would be even better. His character just dragged down the drama.
That's how I felt after watching the first time, but I actually kind of enjoyed him the second time around (probably because I knew he minimally redeems himself in the end AND karma gets him). That level of psycho crazy delulu was kinda fun, and after seeing Gao Han in other roles since then, I was able to appreciate his acting here more
But yeah, one of my least favorite tropes in both C- and K-dramas is the super toxic second lead
I finally am able to binge thus drama. It is very good, love the story. Don't know why this rating is so slow.…
Unfortunately, this show just seemed to get a lot of hate for the sake of being hated from multiple fronts:
1. Xu Kai antis 2. Esther antis 3. People (Westerners mostly from what I can tell) that think Esther using a "baby voice" is an affront to all things good in the universe 4. Fans of other Chinese Paladin drama adaptations because it seems they got butt hurt that the OG game developers LOVE the SF6 adaptation, and some have even outright stated it's their favorite and the most faithful adaptation. Both Esther and Xu Kai have been praised by game creators and CP6 fans for their depictions of Qi and Jin Zhao.
So a lot of low ratings are from people who never even bothered to watch a trailer, let alone give this drama a chance, I bet.
so they make me more anticipated about this drama after today 's hello saturday episode 😍😍😍
I normally don't pay attention to variety shows (C or K drama), but this looks so cute from the promos, even without subtitles so I may have to watch once available with English subs
I rewatched SOXP one of XuKai first roles FUHENG I have to say that last episode where FUHENG dies after sending…
Can you tell me in which episode he dies? Just so I can mentally and emotionally prepare myself should I ever decide to watch this?
I've heard XK's acting is great in this . . . I just don't know if I can handle watching him fictionally die. At least in SF6, one of his characters is brought back T___T
It's always hard to get into these dramas right from the first one or two episodes. Only a few manage to catch…
This drama has a slow burn plot in the beginning. It follows the video game plot very well, so it’s set up differently compared to other dramas - you as an audience member are kinda treated like a fellow character/adventurer in an RPG game.
This starts off cute and playful with an unknown plot - it’s very much intentional and not a failure on the production/writers. The audience starts with the same lack of knowledge the main characters do. So it can be weird and feel directionless if you’re not expecting it and I expect is a reason a lot of people seem to drop this after less than 4 episodes. The plot really starts to gain momentum in the early teens from what I remember - this is very much a back heavy show in terms of plot and it drastically switches in tone.
If you don’t enjoy the cuteness, humor and character development/world building in the beginning and don’t have the patience to wait for the stellar plot later on (in my opinion at least), this likely isn’t a drama for you 🤷🏼♀️
Qi is mentally/socially 3 years old, so the naivety is realistic. She woke up as a blank slate pretty much. Her character matures throughout the drama, especially after *spoiler* she gets her memory back
Just finished my fist rewatch. How can I feel such a massive show hole after watching a drama I’ve already seen? I could probably turn around and just watch it again immediately 🤣
Ahhh how I wish to see XK and JT in another drama together. They’re chemistry is 🔥🔥🔥
Finally giving this drama another go. I made it a little more than halfway before losing access to Netflix (flashback to the great shared password purge), but I got Tencent VIP for another drama and discovered this is on there!
I’m starting over since it’s been so long, but I forgot how enjoyable it is! Here’s to finishing this time! 🤣
You should definitely check out the Court Lady, XK was brilliant in that drama.
Thanks! It’s next on my list after Who Rules the World (I need to cancel Tencent and only recently found out that drama is available there, I got kicked off Netflix while I was halfway through 😭)

It’s a mini/short film (5min). Am I the only one who would watch an entire 40-episode drama of this? I wish this were a full drama 🥲

And I always ask myself "Why would this rich, pampered, pretty boy ever need to learn how to cook his own food?" XD
