It's kind of up to individual watchers if it's a happy ending? I saw it as open, a little bittersweet, but ultimately happy. If you'd still like some mystery don't read my next reply with a mega spoiler!
Do they write the book/ novel in English? The story sounds interesting
No official English version. A fan has started to translate the novel (see Discussion board above), but they're doing it during their own free time out of the goodness of their heart - so they warned that updates will likely be slow. You can check out the first 4 chapters now though!
Why do people think they know better than Xu Kai what roles he should or should not take on? Xu Kai only turned…
I think there are rumors that XK was forced to do this drama by his agency (he was star power to basically attract viewers in order to hype/advertise other supporting cast members) and that he wasn’t particularly happy with the script.
BUT that’s just a rumor and could just be fans making excuses since a lot of “critics” (*coughhaterscough*) blasted XK for his “lackluster” acting in this. For a character that’s written very stoic and serious, I personally think XK did a good job (especially since he’s so expressive in real life) but I’m also on the “SEL deserves better” bandwagon and don’t get the hate this has gotten 🤷🏼♀️
I agree that the FL is rather plain. I’ve noticed that he’s been paired with a lot of older actresses recently.…
That’s actually quite common in cdramas. Most of the time, one of the leads is at least a couple years older if not more . . . this allows younger less experienced actors to gain experience and have mentorship. Also more exposure as older actors/actresses tend to be more well known.
XK also works with actresses his age and younger. His FL in currently filming Moonlit Reunion is 3 yrs younger. So I don’t think it has anything to do with XK being bullied - lol like working with a well-respected and popular actress like Seven would be a “punishment?” I truly don’t understand your logic here 🙃
anyone know if this would be available on wetv as well?
WeTV announced it would be available in certain regions (ASEAN, Macau, Hong Kong, and Taiwan). It's still unclear if it'll be available outside those regions though
I think you misunderstand her and the situation a bit. 1. Li Ni was not ambious and just wanted to be ordinary…
THIS (thanks for saying it too)
I think it’s equal parts hilarious and sad that I really only see harsh critiques on female characters. If there’s criticism of male characters, it’s usually framed in a way the pits most of the blame on an involved female.
If a FL is physically weak, not very smart, and/or perceived as childish and annoying - people complain to high heaven
When we get well-written, developed FLs with their own motivations, conviction and the wherewithal to actually stand by their views despite their romantic partners opposition they become despicable, manipulative, and too demanding.
All in all, it’s just a too accurate reflection of society’s unrealistic and paradoxical expectations of women 🤷🏼♀️
So sad Best Choice Ever is coming out before this one. Sigh.
This is just hearsay, but I’ve gotten the impression that Legend of Shenli basically cut in line last minute, taking the TV slot initially reserved for ABAY so now ABAY either got shifted to the end of the line or they have to find another less buzzy drama to postpone in favor of ABAY. It makes sense given the timeline of promos they were doing and Hi6 before Shenli was announced. It’ll come when it comes I suppose 🤷🏼♀️
The official WeTV instagram just posted a promo video for BCE about 3 hrs ago. So I’m assuming it’ll be available…
Tencent is airing another Chinese Paladin drama starting tomorrow and it also has no presence on WeTV. I wonder if they just got rid of “coming soon” and reservations for most global platforms? We’ll see tomorrow if this newest Sword and Fairy is available on WeTV 🤷🏼♀️
If it does appear on WeTV, then BCE will hopefully follow the same pattern
The official WeTV instagram just posted a promo video for BCE about 3 hrs ago. So I’m assuming it’ll be available globally. . . Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think Sword and Fairy even showed up on WeTV until it aired. My app has a “coming soon” section but it’s literally only had the same 3 dramas, one of which is Shenli (which has aired already) so it doesn’t look like it gets updated at all
Where I watch all this episode please can anyone tell me
It depends on your region, but in the US at least, it’s available on WeTV/Tencent and Viki with subscription.
If you’d like to watch for free (legally), I think all episodes are now available on the Tencent channel on YouTube. You’ll just have ads if you don’t pay for ad-free YouTube

Not that i had any interest in watching it to begin with but I’ve also low key boycotted for that reason. 🙃
