I do think he'll get a lot more screen time once MCH finally ends it with her current boyfriend. The romance will likely be slow burn, but an important aspect of this show in addition to MCH's growth, is also YZM's character growth and integration into the family. We shall see though! I'm really enjoying this show - a lot more than I was expecting!

I honestly think people are overexaggerating. As a Xu Kai fan myself (he's the major reason I started to watch this drama in the first place), I am not in the least bothered with the amount of screen time he has had so far. It makes sense for the plot right now and what we do see of him is great. I'm biased, but his scenes are some of my favorite so far in the drama, BUT I also really like the FL and where the plot is going. XK's character is mysterious, cunning, and a bit/a lot shady, it's a new look for him and I'm here for it

This isn't a typical idol drama (is it even?) so if you're expecting the Xu Kai show with artistic camera angles highlighting his glorious facial structure at all times, you may be better off skipping this and watching the fan-made MVs and reels focused on his hotness.

Thing is, he is the ML so he'll get plenty of screen time coming up. This drama has 37 episodes. Only 6 have aired. People need to calm down lol

As much as the manchild annoys me, I'm glad that the script writers are taking the time to really develop the dissolution of this relationship. Because based on how they were together in episode 1 and how MCH's character is written, a more rushed breakup would not feel realistic. This slow drag of falling out of love on MCH's part is in part painful to watch, but also necessary for her growth as a character. I also think it'll be an important lesson for her mother that excessive meddling can have the opposite effect of what she wants for her daughter - which is ultimately for her to be happy and live a good life

Haters don't care whether the drama is good or not. They rate low to sabotage ratings for the fun of it. Not much to do about it since MDL admins don't care at all about fake accounts (unless they're spam) or harassment *shrug*

I'm sure he'll get more screen time as the drama progresses - based on the teasers for the next few episodes, it looks like he'll be around a little more. This is a female-centric drama that focuses mostly on MCH and her family dynamic (particularly her mother). XK and their romance story are very fine icing on the cake :)

I do think his grandmother is in charge of a company that he has his sights on though. He's mentioned getting control of it to his assistant. Most of the financial/business stuff in modern Asian dramas honestly goes over my head so I'm not too sure how grandma fits into his plans

What can I say? I'm a bit stressed at work and snapping back at haters is good stress relief and outlet for pent up aggression. I can't yell at my bosses, so rando trolls on the internet are a decent substitute. They amuse me :3

Lol haters seem so pressed about this show. What’s so “disgusting” about imperfect but loving family dynamics and a 21st century girl trying to navigate her modern ideals vs family/societal expectations?

To me, this is interesting on a different level from other modern or costume c-dramas. If you really like Xu Kai and aren’t a troll disguised as a fan, then maybe just pass on this drama and watch the Xu Kai fan MV highlight reels that are sure to come on YouTube, Tik tok and such. There’s no need to word vomit hate in the comment section 🙃

Yeah I normally don’t rate dramas until I’ve watched them in full but I may go ahead and rate what I’ve seen so far to help reduce hater effect. Hopefully they’ll die down after a few days.

The opposite of SAF6 is happening here though - the rating is much higher than the visible stats (haters working overtime from the very start as always), vs SAF6 where the currently watching, completed, and verified rating are all much higher than the official MDL rating. I honestly have no clue how they decide on ratings. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if they just put ratings in a hat and pick one randomly.

I do hope BCE rating goes up though - I know 8.5 is pretty decent for MDL but I'm really enjoying this show so far - I live really far away from my family and good friends, so this gives me some good family feels.

I mean Mao also isn't their biological child or otherwise official member of the family, so her being at the official "meeting of the families" to discuss marriage wouldn't be traditional or very appropriate. Even if she was still married, I think the mom would hesitate to let her come
