I think it's much more than being rich and poor, in the breakup scene, fl said she was tired i don't think is…
Based on the synopsis and trailers, it seems like they both either inherit grandma's hotel, or she signs over managerial rights to both of them equally? And I think in the process of working together to run the hotel, they form a bond that eventually transitions into romance. At least that's what I think(?) will happen, so I imagine at least several months will pass. But we shall see! I'm looking forward to seeing them together more often though!
Actually this cp discussion got heated up yesterday due to confrontation between YZM and MCH after the tender…
Lol I've been meaning to ask what drama that's from - it's one of the last XK dramas I haven't seen yet. Probably next on my list after BCE is finished!
It is! It's quite interesting. It showcase the different dynamics between family (an overbearing mother who wants…
It's definitely been a very dividing topic here, and a cause for some people to likely drop/rate low. I've honestly seen worse moms in Asian dramas, so she doesn't bother me or ruin the entire show to the same extent as most here haha
So I am not defending her mom (based on the previews she's about to go full cray cray), BUT I do think there's…
Oh haha good! It's hard to gauge a person's tone with just text, and I often worry I come off more preachy, pushy or defensive than I actually mean ^^'
I agree that this issue isn't really addressed well by modern c-dramas . . . but I think/hope that the reason they portray the mother like this is in order to show that this behavior isn't appropriate, needed, or appreciated by younger generations. I think MCH and mom's relationship really needs to hit rock bottom before they can rebuild and form a more balanced dynamic - and I think this engagement banquet will be that final straw on the camel's back, so to speak

haha yeah, based on the preview for an upcoming episode she does something really bad and indefensible. But it's necessary to finally allow the FL to break free and grow into her true self
When the bf left the red umbrella siting on the ground, what did that symbolize? Does it mean he agree it is over…
To me it symbolized that he truly never appreciated how she cared for him. She sacrificed her own comfort even after breaking up with him, and he just tossed her care aside like trash.
So I am not defending her mom (based on the previews she's about to go full cray cray), BUT I do think there's…
There's a difference between defending someone and trying to understand them, which was the point I'm trying to make and failing to do so it seems.
Mom is wrong in pretty much every aspect of how she's handled the situation - I 100% agree. But I think the motives behind her actions are a lot more complex than simple greed. But then again that's my interpretation - I don't want to start any conflicts when we all agree with the final conclusion (mom = bad), so I'll leave it be from here

Which is why in that aspect she reminds me so much of a Boomer. No one but herself can convince her that she's wrong. She definitely has blinders on and has convinced herself that XJL is the perfect match because he is generically a 'nice boy' and has $$$$. MCH leaving the house because of mom's actions is probably the only thing that will make her see sense and reevaluate her thinking
We know that her mother does eventually change and they're able to repair their relationship, but it needs to break first so they can rebuild with a fresh start. I am equal parts looking forward to this engagement banquet for the drama but also dreading the secondhand embarrassment I will also feel ^^'
I'm sorry, but I can't, in any way or form, defend MCH's mom. Even by Asian parents' standards, she can't be defended…
So I am not defending her mom (based on the previews she's about to go full cray cray), BUT I do think there's a huge generation gap in values and mindset here that explains her behavior. Her mom is from the last generation in which marriage wasn't about love - but security, filial piety, etc. To her, MCH breaking off the engagement is unthinkable because XJL can offer MCH financial security. Personal happiness/love isn't as important when considering marriage - which is completely opposite to modern views
If the older generation in China is anything like the one in my country (Boomers we call them), most are very set in their ways and generally don't handle it well when they are challenged. It's like yelling at a wall honestly and very similar to what it must feel like to try to talk sense into MCH's mom
Seems ur only purpose here is for the rating to decrease. U still being on this page just to see the rating is…
Honestly this person is one more uncalled for comment away from being blocked. I got no time for this negativity in my life right now - and I already got out my pent up aggression a few days ago interacting with trolls 🤣
I had to look it up, but a kickback is a form of bribery. So I'm guessing in exchange for giving Deshan preferential…
I wouldn’t say that so much - YZM has ulterior/selfish motives for ousting Dennis. It helped the company yes, but it would also help himself. At first, he really didn’t care about MCH and was just going to use her and drop her I think. But then he found out about her relationship with his grandma (and also got to know her better) and tried to change his plan a bit to keep MCH from taking the fall. But dumb dumb XJL exposed her anyway
How's the story so far. I plan to binge this later
Getting better episode by episode in my opinion! Its a female centric, family driven drama, so the main romance (Yang Zi and Xu Kai's characters) will be slow burn. It's also not so much plot driven in my opinion, but focused most heavily on characters and their relationships with each other.
I thought the beginning episodes were really good, but they definitely had a polarizing effect with international viewers here on MDL, so approach the beginning with caution I guess. If the first boyfriend's story line, Xu Kai have relatively less screen time, and mother's character are annoying to you, I recommend you to stick with it for the first 10-11 episodes before deciding to drop or not.
Grandma divorced and married FL's grandpa. However Grandma and FL have no blood relations as grandpa had FL's…
They aren't blood related and they weren't raised together as siblings, so I don't think it's awkward or taboo. They didn't even know the other existed until YZM came back to China. I also think the grandma is going to play matchmaker with them.
In China, close non-blood related friends/acquaintances etc commonly refer to each other as brother (gege, didi) or sister (jiejie or meimei), so I think that was probably the connotation grandma meant

I held on for Yang Yang. Say what you want about him but he’s just so pretty to look at 😅
