I have a Roku and have both Viki and iQiyi apps on it. WeTV/Tencent does not have an app for TV streaming unfortunately (in the US)

Not sure how far you are but he and the Director Zhang (I think she’s a director) are working together to take down the current leadership at Botticelli hotel so that Zhang can be head honcho. But in order to secure her promotion as well as YZM’s promotion to HQ, they need to sweeten the pot so to speak. YZM is really the only blood-related heir to his grandmas hotel, which is a well known luxury hotel in Shanghai - a city Yueda is trying to expand into more. If he can get rights to the hotel and hand it over to Yueda, they’ll both get major promotions. It needs to happen soon though, because Yueda may appoint a different permanent head of Botticelli, ousting Zhang from her temp position. I’m still not sure how YZM and Zhang are connected except her daughter is somehow involved

I don’t know, I’ll probably be wrong, but I feel like grandma wouldn’t completely snub YZM in the inheritance. She knows he has deep seated trust issues and has been abandoned by every other family member, so it would be really really mean and not really in character for her to leave him completely out. It would just prove to him that family doesn’t have your back.

I think grandma may leave the hotel to both YZM and MCH as 50/50 or slightly more to MCH to prevent YZM selling out to Yueda Group. And/or she may put a stipulation in the will that it cannot be sold for a specified amount of time (thereby giving YZM time to change his mindset about family)

We know they become work partners that don’t see eye to eye at first so I’m assuming they’re forced to work together lol

Good to know for a rewatch! I’m also not very happy with iQiyi’s subs, but they don’t have delayed episodes like Viki so I’ll stick to iQiyi for the first watch

Ehh, more like frenemies at first? They're both fighting against the same villain (the man that killed the emperor), but they initially have different end goals. Li Ni (ML) is one of the last surviving members of the imperial family and wants to reestablish the dynasty, and put his very young cousin (the crown grandson) on the throne. A-ying (FL) and her commanding general basically think the imperial family as a whole are inept, and either a) want to find the crown grandson to groom him into an emperor in their image OR b) establish their own dynasty if the heir is dead (he is missing at the beginning).

haha I wanted to turn around and immediately rewatch it both times I've seen it. It's very much become one of my favorite Asian dramas of all time!

lol no reason? She's literally watched her best friend be in a relationship with a manchild for 3 years. As an outside observer, she saw that MCH was treated like a mother/nanny rather than a mutually respected romantic partner. She then proceeds to witness her best friend get walked all over by bf's family, and have bf do absolutely nothing to defend MCH. As someone who has witnessed her best friend be in a very similar scenario with an ex, I can tell you we had very similar conversations as MCH and Mao have.

Mao also hasn't laid hands on anyone??? Super confused about that comment. She hasn't even flirted with a male this entire series. Right now she sees MCZ (little brother) as a little brother, nothing else . . .

It's legal in China for non-related people to give consent for life-saving/emergency medical treatment if family cannot be there (in time). Multiple people further down in the comments have mentioned it.

It's definitely not for everyone (SEL)! So between fans of the original work hating the changes that were apparently made and other watchers that may not appreciate the more comic-book feel to it, I understand why so many people didn't appreciate it ^^'

There's something special about XK - I can't really put a finger on it. He's incredibly good-looking yes, but I've seen soooo many c-dramas with attractive MLs but XK is the first to just really grab me and keep me XD

Yeah, I think that played a large part in her disdain for MCH in addition to her being "low class"

ALP and Story of Yanxi Palace are the very last XK dramas I have yet to watch. I don't think I'll be watching SOYP anytime soon (I know what happens to XK's character and don't really want that haha), so I've been saving ALP for last. I'll probably watch it after BCE :)

I've seen The Legends! I did really enjoy it . . . except the last 15 or so episodes are such a mess - the production team did it so dirty T___T so for a new fan, I wasn't going to recommend it, although Mo Qing is one of my fave XK roles

As for SEL - I started off in manga/anime waaaay back in the day and it gave me such nostalgia for some of my OG fave stories (Bleach, Naruto). So a lot of the complaints I saw about the story and production are just standard for the genre, so I didn't think too much of it haha They did an excellent job showing a live-action anima/manga (one of the better ones I've seen tbh)

I don't think she likes her husband or in-laws much at all. Her marriage was basically a business deal, so she probably just prefers to stay at her parents most of the time.

For Xu Kai, I definitely recommend Wonderland of Love. Its a costume drama (if you like those), but his acting and chemistry with his co-star are great!

I've pretty much enjoyed all his dramas, but other faves of mine are Falling Into Your Smile, Arsenal Military Academy, She and Her Perfect Husband, and contrary to popular opinion, Snow Eagle Lord.

I'm lowkey looking forward to the drama and MCH finally going off on people. I have to wait until after work to watch, but I think I'll have some popcorn ready XD
