I agree! Except for 2-3 exceptions, I’ve always felt XK has great chemistry with his leading ladies, but with the last 3 in particular (Jing Tian in WoL, Esther Yu in Sword and Fairy, and now YZ in this) he’s had excellent chemistry and I’d love to see any of them together again in another drama 🥰

I think Ziyu may act out like she does because her mother doesn’t care. She’s attention seeking - I feel bad for her so far 😥

If anything it seems like there’s less of it in this one compared to most others I’ve seen, or at least less blatant advertising 🤣

I really like how the writers and XK handled his transition/development. It definitely seems more organic/down to earth than a lot of other modern c-dramas. In most of those, it's like a switch is flipped in the ML and he suddenly changes overnight. They've done a good job showing a more gradual growth and multiple factors playing into it, not just the FL. Meeting his grandma again and losing her also had a major impact on his outlook I think

YZM is likely going to be one of my fave XK characters if this trend continues <3

More like step cousins, and because they're not blood related nor were they raised together like siblings/family I don't see any reason why they can't date.

I'm lowkey hoping that if the rumors are true about XK's next drama (modern with only 24ish episodes) it may not take as long to film/post production and may come out before Moonlit Reunion . . . *fingers crossed*

I think him erasing his whiteboard with his plans for Xin'an li was him letting go of his plans to acquire it for Yueda. He's been working so hard lately in order to make other gains for Botticelli and Yueda to make up for Xin'an li - that's how I see it at least

YZM who owns the house also want them to stay. At first it was likely to get closer to MCH since he has a crush on her, but I think he came to like the feeling of being around family too. He was sad when he found out they were starting to look at houses

I feel bad for the aunt tbh. She seems pretty mild and likely gets walked over at home by her husband and son . . . but seeing the dynamic of the aunt's family from their hometown does give some perspective on how MCH's mom was likely raised, in my opinion

To be honest, I've never understood this concept about skipping and/or FFing scenes that seems so common in c-drama fandom . . . and then people complain about plot holes, things not making sense, grossly misunderstanding characters and motivations and I'm like "yeah, because you haven't actually watched the whole show" ^^'

If you don't like a show so much that you're skipping parts of it, just drop it? Like, I've been really confused about this . . .

No, ML has had past relationships. His ex gfs are mentioned sometime later by his assistant

It’s how “mom” is said in Mandarin. Like “Baba” means dad. They wouldn’t use formal addresses with each other

You can always try submitting an edit to MDL, but it looks like the synopsis comes straight from Tencent (the main streaming platform for this show) so they likely won't change it ^^'

I also started watching only for Xu Kai and to be perfectly honest, BCE is one of the best c-dramas I've watched recently. Although XK does get relatively less screen time in the beginning, it makes sense for his character, but his development is handled very well and very realistically in my opinion. XK's acting is also *chef's kiss*

The mother doesn't detract from the drama for me, and overall I think she's very grossly misunderstood (probably because people make up their mind very early on that she's selfish/evil and keep skipping/FFing her scenes and miss a lot of context) - I've honestly seen worse in other c- and k-dramas. So I think leaving it up to your own judgement is best :)

YZM and MCH are not related by blood, but will be romantically involved in the latter half of the show though!

lol i've started skipping any comments that are just hate rants about the mom, and it's improved my experience here greatly. I legit dreaded the comments section here before, but now I basically just swipe left on negativity XD

His face with the stinky fish though . . . priceless XD

I think he can handle a bottle or two of beer and some Western wines, but not hard liquor (as we saw lol). Most beers are less than 10% ABV whereas baiju and Western hard liquors are much higher (30-60% ABV).
They were drinking light beer I think while fishing, and those generally have the lowest alcohol content, maybe 5% ABV at most. We've also seen him drinking Rio, which are also lower in alcohol content I think

I've gotten a lot of Pride and Prejudice vibes from this. It's obviously not a 'remake' at all, but it's got the same overall tone with the family dynamic and also YZM and MCH's relationship (thus far at least)

But also, I just pictured Xu Kai as Darcy - cravat and all - and now I can't unsee it XD
