So after the first episode, I don't think that Chenghuan's mom is that bad? She's overbearing and nags a lot sure, but I've seen a lot worse from Asian drama moms - just go watch FL's mom in Fireworks of my Heart. Now THAT woman was a piece of work I tell you what XD
Also, YZM is giving me petty b*tch vibes and I'm absolutely here for it. His expressions on the subway are golden XD
They all used their own voices. The FL’s mom speaks Shanghai dialect
Xu Kai was dubbed in FIYS, so that's why he sounds different. I think the only drama he hasn't been dubbed over prior to BCE (and upcoming ABAY) is SAHPH.
I absolutely adore Xu Kai but have to drop this one. Not even 5 minutes in and the screeching mother did me in.…
I also wouldn’t be quick to judge another culture because it’s not what you expect from yours. Daughters (and sons) often live with their families until marriage in China (and many other places honestly) for a variety of reasons. One being how $$$ cost of living is nowadays. I think this takes places in Shanghai(?) so hella expensive place to live. Don’t knock a poor millennial for wanting to cut wasted spending 🤷🏼♀️
Everyone complaining over huan's mother behaviours 😭 like girl did you not even read the synopsis before starting…
Dude I’m white and American and had several white high school and college friends with overbearing and controlling parents. Helicopter parents are not restricted by geography or race
The haters are just really crawling out of their holes for this one it looks like *sigh*
There's a dog without leash running around the comment section and maybe Yang Zi's other dramas ( the person just…
Honestly this sounds like an account that needs to be reported and hopefully MDL will terminate their account - I’m pretty sure cyber bullying is against policy here
I thought maybe Viki could have it but I couldn't find it. Is it because they just want to air it in China?
Viki may still have it eventually - I've noticed lately that some of their c-dramas aren't available until they're almost completely done airing/fully released (e.g., In Blossom, Blossoms in Adversity), so maybe BCE will follow the same pattern
I'm just hoping it'll be available in the US on WeTV tomorrow. I kept my VIP subscription purely to watch BCE as it airs . . .
my opinion may be different from others but I want xukai in a thriller or action drama. even I don't want him…
I really want to see him play a detective - maybe alongside a more veteran actor/actress. Kind of like how a lot of crime/mystery/suspense K-dramas are cast.
Hopefully it’ll be available internationally on WeTV but no official announcements have been made for regions…
I think international WeTV got rid of all upcoming drama features but they’ve still been available for streaming once aired. For example, Sword and Fairy 1 could not be found on WeTV at all until its first episodes aired. Hopefully BCE will be the same and will just magically appear tomorrow haha
Hopefully it’ll be available internationally on WeTV but no official announcements have been made for regions other than ASEAN, Macau, Hong Kong and Taiwan
I hope this drama be will be a complete success...otherwise, they'll be blaming the failure to Xu Kai. So, praying…
To be fair to her, I myself have seen A LOT of comments around the internet (blogs, reddit, etc) in which people call XK a "ratings bomb," "flop," "pretty face but can't act" and basically bad luck to whatever drama he's in. I know them for the haters that they are, but I as a fan do get upset when I see others saying such hateful things about him all the time.
C-ent fandom is, overall, very toxic. And this is coming from someone who has been entrenched in k-pop fandom (also fairly toxic) for years. C-ent makes k-pop look like rainbows and unicorn farts in comparison sometimes, to be perfectly honest . . .
writers - lets write a story about a powerful general duo from different camps falling in love while brillianty…
Lol it’s called flirting and they both knew they were basically fighting for the same cause so Li Ni knew she wouldn’t ask for something truly disadvantageous to him if he lost. Li Ni one ups A-Ying in other ways too many times. It’s their love language and part of their cat-and-mouse relationship. Part of the reason I love this drama so much is because it doesn’t take itself seriously all the time and incorporates good humor. Not everyone appreciates it obviously 🙃
This will be my first Yang Zi drama, and although I'm here right now mostly for Xu Kai, I have a feeling I'll probably fall for her as well. I just love her so far from the previews! *girl crush mode activated*
I filled out a request form for BCE on Viki and I keep checking to see if it'll pop up in their "Coming Soon" list, but no luck so far :(
I've noticed with several recent c-dramas that Viki doesn't start streaming them until about halfway through their air time or after they're done airing, so we may not get BCE on Viki for a while
XK didn't just deliver the lines with the same gaze and body language, he gave Yanghua unique body language, everything…
I totally agree with this. For some reason, I've been seeing a lot of criticism about XK's acting in this lately, and it's mostly been people whining that he "doesn't look comfortable" "is wooden/boring/lacks expression," or my favorite one "lacks confidence"
And my only reaction is - Yes, exactly. Because that's the character he's playing. That's Yanghua - introverted, depressed, lacks confidence in almost all respects because he encountered a traumatizing pitfall that set his life and career on fire. So people expect him to act confident? Heroic? Happy? Yanghua, at least in the beginning, comes across as a very boring person because he's freaking depressed and just wants to avoid society altogether. In that respect, I do think XK nailed him as a character. And you can see he changed throughout the show - in the beginning he lacks most if any affect at all (an actual sign of clinical depression not to mention the flashbacks of him literally unable to get out of bed), but he gradually gets much more expressive and confident as the show progresses and he starts to heal and finds new things to strive toward (e.g., his romantic relationship, new job opportunities, etc).
As someone who suffers from depressive spells myself, I appreciated Yanghua as a character, as well as XK's interpretation of him. Yanghua has layers, and in my opinion XK did a good job portraying that. I think a lot of people expected a character more similar to his others (extroverted, confident, the typical strong ML) and misconstrued his accurate portrayal of a depressed, introverted character as 'bad acting'
Oh I had thought they were erased because when JZ is listening to the storyteller at the end, JZ and Qi were replaced by Shifeng and the others as saving the world/taking down Zhu Yu. I thought Mingxiu was thinking about Shifeng since she bumped into the kid that resembled a younger version of him. It’s been awhile so I may be wrong, but I distinctly remember feeling sad that no one remembered JZ or Qi at the end
Jin Zhao dies, but between sacrifices made by both Qi and Xu Wei (white-haired sect leader) at the Dragon Pool, JZ and Qi are both able to live but both have lost their memories, and the rest of the world has forgotten them as well. They literally bump into each other on the street one day and it ends with them stopping to look back at one another, almost like they recognize each other. So it's up to you how it ends - do they go their separate ways, or do they "meet" each other again and adventure together from then on? I choose to believe the latter :)

If not, I may also investigate using a VPN . . .
