It's also in Iqiyi, but not sure if it's only certain regions
Yeah I'm actually going to watch it on iQiyi from now on so that I can stream on my TV. WeTV doesn't have a Roku app and I'm not a fan of watching stuff on my laptop or tablet . . .

yes cnetz are also discussing how there's definitely something shady going on regarding the handling of hotel…
I was confused about this - so was YZM brought in to expose what's going on? I know he and the hotel lady (Zhang maybe?) are working together to get rid of Dennis - is it because they suspect he's corrupt or just incompetent?

how many Cinderella’s story have been adapted on screen over the history? The storyline (skeleton) has remained,…
At this point in time, nothing is purely new or original. All stories have roots in something that's been told before. C-dramas are even more limited in what they can do because of the strict censorship that restricts entire genres/tropes, so they have a much more limited pool of ideas to chose from than say South Korea which dominates the Asian drama game right now

I agree. The reason I dropped this drama is because everything in this drama was predictable...even the ending....I…
They must also be able to see the future to already know exactly how this drama will end lol

I've gotten the feeling that many c-dramas (modern and costume) utilize the philosophy "it's not the destination, but the journey" that's important. Yeah, an ending may be predictable, but what really matters is how the characters get there - the trials they face and the personal growth they achieve. But maybe I'm just making excuses for the many "WTF" endings I've experienced in c-dramas XD

So I really dislike the current boyfriend. He’s egocentric, spoiled and he’s not listening to her. I hate…
Just to add to his faults a bit, his proposal on top of being just mortifying for her was also completely opposite of the theme of the event that she worked so hard on. It was supposed to be about parental and family love, not focused entirely on romantic love. And then to find out that he was pulling strings from behind the scenes to "help her" (getting her a discount, buying all the event tickets???) when all she wanted was to prove her capabilities to her new boss. That was the lowest blow I think, because to her, the bf is doubting her ability to do her job to the point where he feels he needs to step in and 'fix' something that isn't broken.

Then again, love isn't logical, and I've definitely watched friends stay in relationships like this for much longer than they should have - because they continually make excuses for the other person. We'll see how it ultimately ends though - I doubt it ends well based on the trailer where she gets absolutely plastered at a bar over it lol

The drama doesn't really explain why she likes him or what she sees in him before she knew he was wealthy. There…
My guess is that MCH is a fairly reserved, introverted person and he likely was one of the first guys to really pursue her, she didn’t know anything better, and settled. But now that she knows their entire relationship is built on multiple lies, she’s starting to lose trust in him. The charger deal alone wouldn’t be a big deal really, but he’s continued to lie to her for 3 years and doesn’t understand why her job is so important to her (why would he when he never had to work hard for something in his life?) I don’t know if it will be one major event or the continuation of multiple small things that will eventually lead to their break. Seems like we may find out soon though!

His first language is Cantonese, but all mainland Chinese dramas must be spoken in Mandarin. A lot of actors/actresses…
I think Cantonese is spoken in several regions of southern China outside HK, so I guess he has a regional accent?

I love Xu Kai, but If she doesn't break up with her boyfriend in the next Episodes I Will stop watching this séries,…
I've seen a couple comments saying the breakup will happen in episodes 6-8 based on episode previews. I haven't watched any past ep5 just to avoid too many spoilers, but just in case that helps you decide to keep watching

OMG episode 4 watching Yang Zi dragging XuKai drunk on a cart had me LMAO. I mean just watching XuKai long legs…
The BTS clip from that scene is also pretty cute and funny, if you haven't seen it yet. The link is probably buried by now though ^^'

Not gonna lie, if my significant other pulled a stunt like rich BF pulled at MY WORK, their butt would be in the dog house for a looooooong time, possibly even dumped. MCH is too forgiving man, but I get the sense that her BS gauge is almost full, so an imminent break up seems much more believable than it did in episode 1

he dong and mai cheng huan are such a fun duo i love them 🤣🤣 can't carry yao zhiming? that's alright. we'll…
There's usually at least one support character in each drama that I almost end up liking just as much if not more than the leads, and I'm pretty sure He Dong is it for me lol He's so great XD

Why does it matter when the lead date? The battles they will encounter with each other will be more interesting.
I don't see how this is racist, though I'm sorry you feel that way. It's not like this show is saying ALL Chinese/Asian moms act like this -this is just a fictional representation of one particular family. I also have white American friends who had parents just as bad if not worse than MCH's mom here. One of my coworkers is married with children and she's always telling me how her mom still tries to micromanage her life. Helicopter parents exist everywhere, and are not restricted by geography or race.

Meddling mothers with lack of social graces have also shown up in pop culture many times before (and this is far from the worst example I have seen just in c-dramas to be perfectly frank). A literary example I just thought of while watching episode 4 is Mrs. Bennett (Elizabeth's mother) from Pride and Prejudice (book, TV miniseries, movie - take your pick). Same types of characters - illogical, meddling, embarrassing mother paired with a sensible daughter with high EQ. Same trope, different dressing.

I get people think the mom is annoying, but on the other hand it's exactly what's written on the tin (see: synopsis), so I don't get why so many people seem so bent out of shape about it. I also find the mom annoying at this point, but I was honestly expecting her to be much worse. I'm sure she'll improve and reflect on herself though, because that's one of the main points of this drama. I hope this drama goes in a direction that is less offensive for you, but if it doesn't, I also hope you find another drama to enjoy.

Yall iwant to watch this but hesitating because of the fl boyfriend? Heard he is very annoying and a "manchild"…
I've only seen the first 3 episodes so far, but yes, he's basically a manchild . . . he's not totally a bad guy. Like I think he really does mean well/has good intentions toward MCH, but he needs to grow up. MCH basically acts like his nanny/mother and it is annoying - but they don't stay together long into the show, so I wouldn't let this relationship hinder you from watching the drama if that's the only thing holding you back

How will the relationship end for the ml and fl since the ml will go back abroad after the year is up.
He may ultimately decide to stay - except his grandma, it doesn't seem like there's anything holding him to any particular place right now, but that may change once he's found his place in the Mai family. At least that's what I'm hoping will happen!

Why was XK ever dubbed? His voice is as gorgeous as the rest of him 😂
His first language is Cantonese, but all mainland Chinese dramas must be spoken in Mandarin. A lot of actors/actresses are dubbed because they either speak a different language (there are over 100 spoken in China!) and/or have heavy accents and cannot speak Mandarin up to the standard regulated by the government. So the solution c-ent came up with is to dub over most of their actors with professional voice actors who speak very clear, fluent standard Mandarin.

If you're from the US, it's kind of like how all newscasters/reporters have the same clear stereotypical American accent, regardless of where they live. They receive special training to speak like that, so do actors and voice actors in c-ent. Xu Kai has been working very hard on his pronunciation in order to dub his own roles, which to me, shows just how dedicated he is to acting. A lot of actors remain dubbed for most if not all of their careers it seems.

Someone with more knowledge of this please correct me if I'm wrong though!!

Girl, there are very few characters that literally make me want to crawl through my television screen in order to simultaneously b*tch slap and sucker punch someone like that devil woman. Absolute worst. My bar has been set super high for awful drama moms now XD
